This time’s project was made with a great, constructive interest as its construction required a lot of imagination, concurrency and accuracy.

  • Love it! That fire rate made me laugh. Mwah hah hah hah! Spray and spray! Be sure to pack plenty of ammo. If in an airsoft war, may develop a slim backpack feeding the gun. I'm sure you'd win!

    • In a self defense setting it would hurl a lot of painfull balls in couple foot wide area, perfect for a dark hallway for example. Definitely better than a tazer or pepper spray.

  • imagine a much faster version of this and with iron pellets, it would be noisy but it would basically be a short range electrical machinegun that wouldn't even need gunpowder, might need magnetic bearings to spin at those speeds though, but it would be awesome, imagine a backpack full of iron balls, you can even make a bigger version to mount on a tripod like a turret.

    • When I was a teenager I built a full auto BB gun that was leaps and bounds better than this one (in performance), it shot .177" steel BB's at around 500 FPS with a fire rate of about 90-100 rounds per _second,_ and it held a little over *5000* BB's in the hopper. It had to be run off a 100 gallon air compressor with 3/8" ID hose at 150 PSI to get those numbers so it wasn't exactly portable though. It was made of PVC pipe, a few compressed air fittings and blowgun, a four foot long steel BB barrel made from seamless steel automotive brake line, and a very carefully crafted block of Bondo that held the barrel at the right spot inside a vortex cylinder and a port that leads into the hopper of BB's. The BB's pour into the chamber from the above hopper into the 3/4" diameter vortex chamber and are spun around inside by an air port inside the vortex cylinder until they reach the barrel port, which is located in a tangent to the BB's direction of rotation in the vortex, and since the hopper and vortex chamber are sealed airtight the air can only exit through barrel which slings the BB's on their merry way at a good bit over the firerate of the BRRRRRT gun on an A10 Warthog. I could cut things in half with it like branches, pop cans, thin wood, cardboard, anything a .177 BB at 500 FPS could penetrate lol. Only downside though was it ran through 5000 BB's in under a minute of constant firing. I didn't have much of a budget at the time so I didn't get to shoot it nearly as much as I wanted, 5000 BB's wasn't cheap to me back then lol. The Airsoft version fires at 150 rounds per second, it just makes a buzzing sound🤣. There's a forum on a website (Spudtech dot com) that has all the info on construction, from finding the right materials to building the vortex block with very simple tools, they are really very easy to build if anyone is interested. They're called Vortex BB guns, there is a forum thread dedicated to them. You might have to do some digging to find everything but it's all there. You don't need to register an account to view all the material but we do appreciate new members😉, and you can ask for advice as well.
