  • I would actually strongly propose usage of the whistle in MMA. So that judge can signal stopage at the moment when he wants. Few very important seconds before he can fisically stop the fighter from inflcting unnecessary damage.

  • Not allowed to punch someone directly in the back the head but you can mash them onto the back of their head on the canvas with such force AND all of their body and the other fighters body weight with zero consequence. Dumb.

    • That’s the result of the politicians who supported making UFC a reality in the 90s. Same as the rule prohibiting the 12-6 elbow. It doesn’t make any sense but it’s what was necessary to bring the sport into existence.

  • I love slam finishes, I used to be a wrestler in high school and have done sparring with kickboxing and MMA and all that. There is just nothing that takes the fight out of another person as much as a perfect slam, other than like a liver shot or a knockout. And come on, when they sit there and hold them for a sec to set up the slam that is crazy hype anticipation, gets me off the couch usually 😅

  • I started boxing for 6 years and wrestling 3 years three championships in boxing 2 in wrestling just remember those I started when I was 6 years and my hands were registered as lethal and deadly weapons so can’t fight anyone unless to defend myself i feel I need to go back in the ring you know umm 14 now I miss being but I don’t what go juvenile again so nice video

  • Just crossed my mind. Why are punches, kicks, etc to the back of the head so protected against. But, slams where literally the only outcome is the back of your opponents head being driven into the ground with both of your weights behind it allowed? Not saying outlaw them entirely. Side dumps etc still seem ok. But the perfectly vertical, up down with their back to the canvas seems like an easy thing to protect against.

  • as much as I like this kind of stuff... there really should be negative points for mindlessly punching a guy who is clearly out... you are fighting, yes, but to win, not to kill... if you have lost all awareness and are just an attacking machine, you do not have full control of your skill and aren't much more than an animal.

    • You'd think MMA would have a higher fatality rate than boxing since more potentially fatal moves are allowed, but it's actually the other way around. All I can figure is that boxers focus 100% on striking and tend to punch harder since that's their entire offense, so their punches have more potential to kill someone. Also, I think MMA refs tend to shut the match down quicker than boxing refs do when it's clear that one fighter isn't holding up.

  • Penalties for hitting a defenseless opponent might help, but it would likely create a new set of issues. The officials are already hesitant to do stoppages because of complaints that they were done too early.
