Alvaro Recoba is in no way a forgotten man of Italian football history, and he left his mark on Calcio and Football Italia viewers all over the world, with his endless flair and hammer of a left peg. But his story is one of 'what might have been'. when we reflect on his frustrating, stop-start Inter career.
In his first game in the league, Recoba scored both goals in a 2:1 win over Brescia. The first a bonafide ‘thunderbastard’ from nearly 40 yards out, the second a free-kick that defied the laws of physics. A stunning debut from the mop-topped starlet at the imposing San Siro, even managing to overshadow Ronaldo.
Although Álvaro Recoba’s story is not a tragic one, it is a disheartening one. A footballer of such sublime talent faded into obscurity so dramatically. He almost transformed his natural genius into footballing gold.
Such amazing player , the real football fans never forget him
And all younger fans should know how good he was.
Used to score with him from anywhere on PES. What a player he was
That Inter side in PES 2006 is absolute cheat code it the game.
@@overthinkingfootball. haha 100%. Recoba, Zlatan , Adriano, Figo and Vieira were unstoppable.
I'm truly grateful to you for making a video about this phenomenon. I'm a Milan fan, and remember him torturing us so many times.
His two debut goals against Brescia was Phenomenal!.. Upstaging Ronaldo in the process!
One of my favorite players all time. His goals were just pure talent!!!!
Yeah, and it's such a shame that he didn't achieve more
Imagine Recoba's talent with Forlan's discipline and professionality...
Recoba orgullo del País del Club Nacional de fútbol ❤️🤍💙🇺🇾
Possibly the most talented player of all time
That quite possibly might be true
Posibly no, is real
It was pure entertainment to watch him at his best, he always created sth out of nothing. My favourite footballer!
One of the greatest or if not the greatest Uruguayan player of all times.
Well it-s hard to tell because there is Diego Forlan and Edison Cavani but in my opinion he definitely had the potential to become the greatest Uruguayan player of all times
@@overthinkingfootball.Love how you ignored Luis Suarez xD
@@pandaman1331 I'm sorry he is definitely the best and somehow I manage to forgot him. Thanks for the reminder.
@@overthinkingfootball. Forlan and Cavani are definitely contendors though.
Enzo Francescoli is the greatest Uruguayan player of all times.
Could've easily been the best player of his generation if he had actually tried and was consistent. He had really terrible games and then he had amazing games that would make you think he was a football God. His talent was out of this world, when he actually used it.
I was waiting for a long time for a video on him. He was my favorite player when i was a kid
I hope you enjoyed it.
I watched him play in the mid 2000s the guy looked like a kid but seemed to Garner so much respect and adulation...the man's an icon.. Football is not just about being a "g.o.a.t" 🙄 Recoba was beautiful to watch... everybody who watched him felt like they could touch the sky
Yeah, and it's too bad that he didn't make more out of his career.
I remember watching Football Italia as a kid when he was on loan at Venezia. What a player he was
Amazing player!!!!!!
Absolute genius but it's shame that he didn't do more with his career
Easily the best and still my favorite player in the world that i watched.
This guy was magic.
I remember watching him as a kid 🦨
Si en el fútbol no existieran títulos, en sería el más amado, es como si el hiciera el fútbol y como no los golazos
I remember playing fm2021 with a 2001/02 database. Playing him with Pablo Aimar. 37 goals in all comps and 20 assists in his seconds season. But when I added Luca Toni my Valencia team was unstoppable.
That's an amazing attack you built.
Genuinely my favourite player of all time. First time I saw him play after using him on pes I was obsessed. If he had suarezs drive and hunger(not literally) he'd have won a ballon d'or. Shame about the bans as well. I'll always bring him up in drunk football debates and nobody seems to know him and I find it outrageous
People who saw him play know he had the talent to be the level of Messi or Maradona, but lacked the drive to be even an Sunday league player, when he was in Danubio his teammates had to wake him up to go training.
yessss messi always tries olympic goals. but recoba actually has done it more than once
Great video! Congratulations 👏👏👏
Thanks, I really appreciate it
I remember when him and Ronaldo played together during the debut in inter and he upstaged R9.
Yeah, and it's such a shame that he didn't had better career
Idol
He was so good on winning eleven 8
Yeah, he was absolute monster and it was such a joy playing with him
Damn im glad i found your channel
I'm also glad you found it.
ALVARO RECOBA!!!!!! PES LEGEND!!!! BETTER LEFT FOOT THAN MESSI!!!!!
Please shut up thx.
He could win the Ballon d'Or if he wanted to, he had football for that. If he had consistency, he could have won a season, just like Shevchenko, Nedved or Kaká... If he had consistency, he could remain as Inter's starter for many years and have won the 2010 Champions League, and led that Uruguay campaign in the 2010 Cup, which had Suarez, Cavani and Forlan, assuming he still played well at that time ( despite his advanced age), would pass from the Netherlands and play the final against Spain. Honestly, he had football to do far beyond these hypotheses.
Alvaro el Chino Recoba icono de EA sport y tenía que ganar el balón de oro por ser el mejor jugador de su tiempo y no lo eligieron por no vender mucho marquetin
My brother's name is the same
Lazy but good ..
