This is the Mercedes-Maybach GLS!
It’s the ultra-luxurious (& ultra-expensive!) version of Mercedes’ largest SUV, and Mat’s here to see if it’s really worth the eye-watering £160,000 starting price!
Now, of course, the GLS may be powerful, but you don’t pick a Maybach for performance… You choose it for the incredible interior! And trust us, this GLS doesn’t disappoint. Name an in-car mod-con, and you can guarantee it’s got it. From super-reclinable back seats to a fridge and built-in champagne flutes, the Maybach GLS is built so passengers can travel in pure comfort.
Of course, the luxury doesn’t end with the back seats! Although the dash and features up-front may mirror the standard GLS, this version has been elevated, with Maybach badging and leather found throughout… Even the door bins are lined with it! What’s more, you’ll find a load of styling upgrades on the outside too, from the bespoke Maybach grille up front to the chrome rear bumper at the back.
Peer under the bonnet and the Maybach can still pack a punch, with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 & a small electric motor combining to produce 558hp & 730Nm of torque. But then again, it needs that power when it weighs in at 2.8 tonnes!

@@carwow Matt needs to check interior build quality too, which is not very good on new Benzes. Maybe Mercedes-Benz would eventually deal with it. it's all cracky sounds inside. (Not in the S-Class but C,GLC,GLE etc)

The cars Mercedes (and Maybach) do. So it really is appalling that they can't make an effort and even think up any NAMES for their models! Try explaining to your friends which one you have! This of course applies to other makes, but RENAULT did manage this! No more Renault 4's, 5's, 6, R8, R10, 12,14,16 19,21,,25, etc.! Just CLIOS , MEGANES, TWINGOS, CAPTURES, KOLIOS models, etc.

My issue with this car is that the interior (in the front) is basically just a nicely trimmed GLE interior. The GLS needed an S-Class style interior to then warrant the GLS-Maybach version. Not like i can afford one ever though lol

Most people will never own a Rolls-Royce or Bentley, they make no apologies for their exclusivity. Mercedes-Benz is a far more accessible brand.

@@modfus I think the Maybach is the better car for being chauffeured around in since it seems to have the most space in the back, but quality/luxurywise the RR and Bentley are still miles ahead. And if the jetset wants a car to be chauffeured in they'll just get a Phantom or (used to get a) Mulsanne instead of these SUV's

Cant even fold the back seats, weighs the same as the moon, has white leather, shit range etc. Nothing utility about it, nor does it have much sporty about it because its tall, heavy with soft suspension. So, out of the SUV name, its shit at the S and the U bits. 🤷♂️ Its a limo on stilts. At that, its great, but its a terrible SUV.

Definitely the best looking luxury SUV in my opinion. It looks elegant, especially with the silver/black two tone but more sporty and athletic than the Bentayga and Cullinan. It's also more modern which might not help long term reliability but definitely everyday usability.

This is a beautiful, luxurious, and fast Mercedes Maybach GLS. I prefer the Maybach sedan because a sedan car is more luxurious then an SUV.
Very nice but I wish they would have used brushed chrome itself of the bright chrome. They really need to tone it down with the chrome and maybe have a carbon fiber finish option for the lower pieces!

Jordan: I think the triangular ART DECO Launch logo is the classiest logo EVER, and EVEN classier than such classy cars! But this logo DOES appear on this car, and the way they have so neatly spellt out Mensch is nice too!

The "Derestricted" comment from Mat at the end where he gets up to 166km/h was on a dual carriageway rather than a motorway. The yellow "Ausfahrt" sign is the giveaway. On the Autobahn they're blue :)

Despite the maybach badge and all those added luxuriousness, you can't deny there is a depreciation for everything. Maybaches of the past are known for depreciating quite a lot.
If you can afford to buy one of these then you probably won't worry about depreciation
