I installed it last week and really enjoy it. More consistent quality than CTGP. Hopefully the online playerbase builds up over time.
This is what mkw needed and i think if they continue like this, they'll fully replace ctgp as the "supreme" mod for the game, imo they've already done so with how behind ctgp is on basically everything still looking like a 2010 mod 💀 they just need the publicity

Small thing I noticed: In regular MK or CTGP, the lap three music always starts from the same spot whenever you enter lap 3, but in retro rewind the music just speeds up / pitches up from where its currently playing. So sick.
Getting GP's done in 20-25 minutes is such a lifesaver! One interesting factor about this mode is that pulling Blue Shells feels like the Vanilla Thundercloud if your teammate is in first. On Shroom Ridge I had slowed down so that you'd have enough of a lead to tank the blue shell and still finish first. Adds a lot of depth to the game.

40:35 this happens to me too, in both video games and art. i think we can sometimes get stuck on something unconsciously. like if i’m playing a game everyday, im going to be thinking about it whether i want to or not, so when i step away from game, i’m able to come back with a fresh mind that isn’t cluttered with “no i should do this instead” and allow my instincts to take the wheel instead.

I mean you gotta have a vs race with NMeade now. To make it more fun: you can choose teams based on a draft system/ do that with vehicles as well since so many vehicles are viable. Everyone on a different vehicle.
40:34 I'm not an expert, but I think it has to do with learning, breaks, and maybe motivation. Even when we stop playing a game, the brain "keeps the momentum" for a certain period of time and continues processesing information experienced during the previous activity. When we take breaks and take sleep, we consolidate that info and get overall better performance. That's one reason because sleep is important for studying, learning, etc. . After a long break it is also easier to reengage with that activity, because it is more desirable and fun than keep playing over and over again non stop until burning focus. I think this also applies with other things too, but take this comment with a grain of salt, there is always more to know on topics like this and of course, it's more complex than that

THIS IS SO AWESOME! I love 6v6 clan wars in mario kart, IMO it's the only real competitive mode and is super fun to play. This feature completely simplifies the experience, hopefully this leads to more clan wars happening

This is why I want to mod my Wii that I have at my mother's house. The mods for this game specifically are mind-blowing, on a 15 year old game! This is probably the best update to a mod that I've seen lol. Like how do you have this many tracks without risking overheating your Wii (I do know that you can use emulator)?

hey troy, hopefully you can answer this, but im wondering why in order to get these mkwii mods like custom tracks etc, why does itr require a physical wii to play them? I heard maybe you can somehow, but online playability isnt possible on a pc emulator? thanks :)
Troy usually doesn't respond to these kinds of comments so I guess I'll give you the answers as I understand them No one wants to be caught dead promoting piracy because it is both against the law and way more likely to put the MKWii community in trouble with Nintendo. Allowing emulation, while not "explicitly" the same thing as piracy... Does enable piracy to become easier. That in addition to the fact that it is harder to make servers that are compatible and safe with both emulation and real hardware. That all said, I'm pretty sure you can connect to wiimfi on dolphin (without CTGP) and Retro Rewind's developers seem more open to allowing their mod to run on Dolphin (although I have no idea if they have any plans to support online play)
Idea for chaos: have the thundercloud and megacloud available with the same icon. So no one knows what it is and if it’s worth it to steal

For the QOL features, absolutely. For the tracks, no. I personally prefer originally designed custom tracks, but if you're a casual that doesn't want to deal with the five or so uber jank tracks in CTGP, then Retro Rewind is perfect.
@@issamkw I can respect that. I like OG tracks too, but every good OG track from the past or so is now gone and the newer OG's don't have the same feel as the previous ones, which is also why I like retros more than OG's now mostly.
@@LiamDeege at least we still have canyon run, cod, dcr, disco, halogen, lost fortress, rcr, and uo. All of which haven't received a major update since before 2016

Seeing this comment makes me relate because I still have the bad memory of losing my original Wii, and that loss has really affected my feelings towards new consoles and games as I have the fear of losing something like the Wii again. Nothing can compare.
