Guitar Heroes appear on "Some Assembly Required" to benefit the Jason Becker Special Needs Trust. Additionally, all of us can help by donating at www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted...
All the money raised goes directly to assisting Jason and his family in their ongoing battle against ALS.
Nita Strauss and fiancé Josh Villalta have assembled an all-star cast of musicians to play on a new track, “Some Assembly Required.” The song is based on one of Jason's original demo tracks that was pitched to David Lee Roth but never got used.
Jason says, "So, I wrote this song in early 1990, hoping that David Lee Roth would want to use it. I went to Matt and Gregg Bissonette's place and recorded it with them. It was a lot of fun. Dave passed on it. Cool, because now all these fantastic players get to jam on it. A few years ago, Nita and Josh came over to go through some of my unreleased music to see if they wanted to do some kind of collaboration. This Christmas, they surprised me with this beautiful video. Man, what a gift! Not only from them, but from everyone involved. I am such a big fan of you all! Thank you all so very much."
Nita says, "From the moment we went up to Jason’s house for the first time in 2015, we felt an amazing connection with Jason and his team. When we had the chance to help out in some way, we jumped at the opportunity. The original idea was to do a song for my own album, but we quickly realized this could be a much bigger project and, more importantly, have a bigger impact to help Jason raise awareness and funds. We took Jason’s rough demo, set it to a click, Josh re-tracked the drums, and I replayed the rhythm guitars. The incredible Billy Sheehan came down to the studio and played bass. From there, we reached out to tons of Jason’s friends and peers, from all genres and eras, and amassed an army of friends to trade solos on this track. We left Jason’s original demo solo where it was, where it shines to this day alongside so many of the players that love and look up to him. We were able to send this video to Jason on Christmas Day and bring some holiday cheer to him and his family! Jason loved it and christened the new song 'Some Assembly Required.'"
Now, we are reaching out to you, the rock community, to be an ally to Jason and his family. The ongoing struggle to find caregiver help seems to be an endless challenge. This brings stress and worry for Jason because of the out-of-pocket funds he pays, not to mention the daily pressure of just staying alive against all odds. This stress makes it difficult for any creative activity, which is what keeps him going.
Jason is actively writing and creating music, and we all have the chance to support this track on all platforms with all funds going directly to Jason, or by donating directly at www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted...

youtube ecelebs were the worst part by far, Jason Becker is too kind
that coil switch mid-solo was smooooth
Dude you were unreal!
At the beginning of of your solo I get big Eric Johnson vibes and it's just incredible! That's a tone to be proud of!
Damn, when Jason Becker calls, everyone answers the phone. So cool. Glad Marty participated.
Even Lukather didn't hold the line.
when jason says jump, you say how high.
Seen Marty twice , he loves playing that guitar 🎸 and we love to hear him. God bless you all and Jason☮️

Just a friendly comment. It’s Nita Strauss and not Nina. 🤘🙂🤘
Jared Dines? WTF Marty should have closed out the talent not SL And this dines amateur shouldn’t even be in the roster, Very confused But, hey it’s for Jason so it’s all good Thanks to all the well known and established talent that donated their cuts Loved it. Love Jason Becker and Cacophony
Man… was hoping Andy James would have joined in!!!
Com certeza é o Vai kkkkkkk
This will go down in history! Nita and Josh are such legends for putting this together! Amazing work from everyone involved. Love it! - Herman Li
Hi Herman!
For us fans old enough to know all of these players and Beckers story, this was extremely moving and a wonderful gift to Jason. Thank you for being part of the coolest thing I think I've ever seen in metal!
This "shred comp" is the best I've seen .
Herman you killed it!
Can’t wait for the new album! 🎸🔥
Jason Becker lives and breathes all over the world.
Inspires me everyday down in Oz!
#ElonForJason
and he is smiling!
He may outlast Us!!! One can hope.
Chris?
Big thank you to Josh and Nita for having me part of this legendary collaboration!! Jason has always been a hero of mine!! Thank you everybody!! This rocks!!🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Congrats, Bro
Thank you big time Marc! I absolutely loved your solo. I am so grateful to you.
@@JasonBeckerOfficial thank you jason!!! Thank you for all the inspiration!!
@@JasonBeckerOfficial thanks jason you’re a huge inspiration!!
I'm Surprise for your tecnique.Great job,man🤘🤘
I got something in my eye when straight after Jason's bit Marty came up
Damn. Having "Jason Becker Himself" followed by Marty Friedman hit me right in the feels
I cried at that moment
I wasn't crying, it was the ghosts cutting invisible onions under my eyes!
Me too
Totally
Same here! I was just about to comment this but you beat me to it. 😆 That was just too perfect of them to do
It's impossible not to get emotional when you see so many amazing guitar players united for Jason Becker.
His smile at the end got le teared up!
Got really emotional seeing how Jason and Marty played right next to each other in the order of this song
Yeah, that was a nice touch.@@Jay-D049
The girls nailed it!!! Marty played with his heart
100%❤
To see the greatest guitar players on the planet come together for Jason shows you his influence!!
Amazing undertaking by Nita & Josh, a huge honor to participate and Jason continues to inspire. Thanks for having me 🙏🏼🎸🙌😎
Excellent job Alex, not even looking at the fretboard ❤
@@markgandol5994go watch again. He did
Congrats. Best solo of gig.
Me a encantado tu solo, gran trabajo! 👏👏👏🤘🤘🤘
Alex just wanted to say hello,I’m a big testament fan, great work, say hey to chuck and the boys keep rockin my friend!!!!!
Literally brought tears to my eyes. The best quote about Jason I ever heard was when I asked Marty Friedman to share a thought. “Jason isn’t the reason I play guitar. He’s the inspiration for getting up in the morning”.
Thatss the most badass comment. Got the article?
@@drums5050 it was an online press conference I attended for Jackson guitars about a year ago, when they released the USA made SL3. It really hit me right in the feels.
Same here - At first I was like "aw that's cute." But I choked up when Nita got out the yo yo. Then when Marty came in, the tears started....
I don't know what it is about Marty showing up but that was the moment
@@joeydego2 that’s so EPICLY mad dude. 👌🏾🤟🏾🤛🏾
Wow, this so so amazing to see and hear... I almost teared up when it said Jason himself.. He's always been and continues to be such an inspiration for me and for so many around the world. Love ya Jason... You're incredible... ❤ 👍 🙏 🎸
So are you, Alex. 🏆
Jennifer Batten! She's still killing it! Love seeing her! Love you Jason!!!
Shed a tear when Marty came on screen. Absolutely beautiful
I did too...
Marty hogging Jason’s spotlight again. 🤪 Kidding of course.😂
Me too
i did
Same
Jennifer Batten what a surprise and sweet solo!!
Hers was easily among the best and most tastefully phrased, she killed it.
@@K707OR30totally agree
She is a Legend!
She's really awesome, definitely a very cool addition to the lineup
She slayed
Nita Strauss - very nice touch with the yo-yo. I’m sure I’m not the only one that got a big smile and a tear at the same time over that. Thank you so much for putting this together. Everybody that views this should share it with a minimum of 10 people.
My Favorite segment is Angel V !!!!!
Nita pulling out the yoyo for Jason. Wow. Magic.
Marty entrance gave me chills, seriously. Marty is absolutely perfect
My favorite solo of the bunch. He plays with so much feeling!
the most melodic I think, then comes Herman Li
Yes, it brought me to tears!!!
Yup, Marty nailed it, listened the most.
Really beautiful melody by Friedman
Absolutely incredible work by everyone involved! Love you Jason! Thanks for the inspiration! Sincerely, ~Yui Mizuno aka Yui Metal and BABYMETAL
I was Blessed to have met and taken a handful of lessons from Jason. Truly a beautiful person and incredibly gifted guitarist. After joining DLR he even came back up to the Bay Area to do a guitar clinic at DVC that I helped set up. THANK YOU for all your contributions Jason \m/.
Friedman’s solo is just something special
I thought Alex's was the best .
He have that distinctive sound over all that even if it's your first time listening to this with no video, you'd recognize that that part was Marty's.
Marty is a top 3 all time to me. Steve Stevens was awesome!
yeah I teared up at Marty's, all things considered and all. it's more of a verse though.. gives me that cacophony feel.. Alex's part was probably my favorite standalone
Marty is amazing, Mr Friedman the Honored equal half of Cacophony He is unique both in approach and practice it is a lesson many need to learn Take apart “Dragons Kiss” He has a intention to his compositions beyond just shred The thinking mans artist Subliminal, microtonal, experimental, seems to be in its own sub genres He and Jason are the perfect Yin to the others Yang
This was the best collab jam ever❤ the Yo-yo, all the players, Marty, the footage of Jason - I’m in tears, this makes me so happy ❤
You and me both!
Marty shines with melody over speed.
To be given the gift of high level playing and then to have it taken away, along with all of his other capabilities is incredibly sad. It's great that his colleagues continue to support him.
Bonamassa rocking a metal song is amazing
Seriously
Never thought I’d see it. But you’re damn right!
Joey B let it rip and it was great! Let the fucking man live!
This solo is not very different from what he has done on Black Country Communion. He does have a hard rock side. If you are not aware of the band I mentioned you should check it out.
@@TheAntropusChannelbloodline buddy
Billy Sheehan on bass just makes this cooler 👺🤘🔥
There isn't anyone except the 4 string master to have!
Definitely!
another way to support this channel is to NOT skip the ads...
Even Steve Lukather! Awesome! Everyone put in their best efforts and of course, always do. ❤
Wow... Just wow..... And it's so cool that Alex Skolnick played an EVH. Ed was definitely there in spirit.
EVH was Becker's # 1 influence .
He should be in the hall rock of fame …to be recognized while his still kicking …
He's already in my hall of fame. That other one is just a scam, don't take it seriously.
He doesn't need to be Kate Bush is in there so that shows it means nothing
@@PHILPOP2 stupid comment, Kate is there in her own right, just because you don't like her doesn't mean a thing.....
@@PHILPOP2 perfectly said
Got Goosebumps as soon as I saw Marty
Goosebumps all over my body the second Jason’s track commenced. Jesus, the man is a genius.
Nita with the yo-yo got me!
Me too
agreed perfect touch
Yep! Classy touch! I'm sure Jason liked it!
I was like WTF?!?! There's showboating, there's showing off, then there's just straight taking the piss! 🤣
@@rkgaustin9043she's "quoting" Jason. Later on in the video he does the same
I just became so flooded with emotions, I almost cried when Marty showed up on the screen. I got "Welcome back old friend" vibes.
I did cry. I couldn’t even talk explaining to my 7 year olds.
I listen to Martin and Lari ‘ solos on that song everyday ! It’s just so remarkable.
Every single player is incredibly amazing. Also Mr. Friedman proves that every single note means a lot.
Thank you Alex Skolnick for playing the Frankie relic, because Edward Van Halen should have been a part of this. Had he survived. What a beautiful tribute to Jason. What an amazing collaboration between an incredible collection of artists. Mr Becker, your music and your influence will outlive every last one of us.
Someone should have played a Dean ML, too! Wylde, for example
@@pitthefrit6292 ... Agreed. Or even the Black Label Society custom Razorback that Dime had made for him.
Damn right!!!
Good catch....saw that and felt the same
Nita playing Yoyo is a big homage for Jason, almost brought me to tears .. and then enter Marty solo
instant tears.
Marty sticking with a very humble contribution was a really powerful gesture.
❤
Really impressed but I mean….. Nita where is your crazy left hand legato on yoyo part😂
What do you mean by almost? Cried my eyes out here😂
6:12 good god that note selection, so simple yet so perfectly melodic
And this is why rock and roll will never die
I'm glad marty went right after the clips of Jason. It seems like the way it should be. What a great show of unity from the guitar shredding community. I love it.
I literally began crying when I saw Marty Friedman.
Same
Can i ask why? Is there a story behind it?
@@redmed10 they were buddies and had a speed metal band called Cacophony in the late 80's
I get so emotional whenever I see Marty in Jason's videos. Marty is a true friend.
God bless all of you

And Steve Vai !! 🤘🤘
Don't forget about Paul!🤘🤘

Beautiful and incredible. My father acquired ALS and you have been my inspiration in caring for him. God bless you Jason!

My favourite is Marty..he always has unique sound and scale. Joe also rocks!
It's impossible not to get emotional watching Jason's live scenes, and the sequence when Marty enters makes you cry. Thank you for this song and this amazing video!
I really cried
It brought a tear to my eye dude
My Goodness! This was like the Justice League of Guitar Heroes. Excellent!
I love to see the Marty´s love for Jason in every collaboration o musical project.. what a duo!! My eye´s were full of tears to see them in these old videos and then Marty´s solo
love it when steve plays the neighbors get to enjoy it
This is like the We Are The World of guitarist. Amazing work and I'm sure if Dimebag and Eddie were still with us they would be right their with you guys! Thank you, Jason.
It’s worth checking out some of the shred collaboration videos online as well. Some of these people like Jared are on them and pretty fun.
Jason Becker is a living miracle, not in the obvious sense. How else could we have something like this happen if it wasn't for the love this incredible human being breeds in all of us?❤❤❤
Jason, I thank God for you. Your bravery and never say die attitude really inspires me. May God bless you always.
I watched this like an angel from heaven descended incarnate through these great guitarists to comfort their sick child, I couldn't help but shed tears, it was so amazing
A lesson: Even if you cannot move more than your eyes, you van inspire others.
Jason moves more than his eyes; he moves our hearts! 😉
He's still an active composer.
And his mouth..look at that winning Kool aid man smile at the end😀
Yes he does!
Most would say I was "a shredder" back in the day (though I hate the term itself because it's nothing like that). Last year my hands suddenly froze up and were so swollen and stiff I could barely play 2 notes in a row. Players like Tony Iommi, Django Reinhardt, and especially Jason Becker helped keep me inspired and refusing to give up. Now I can play a lot again, and though I may never play like I used to, I am still progressing as a musician.😊
JASON BECKER = MOZART of the guitar ! Thank you Jason for hanging in there for the World to experience. \m/\m/ 1969 was a great year ;-)
He is indeed the Mozart of the guitar.
I will not cry! At least I tried. Only Jason Becker can unite so many legends.
Your in our hearts your in our soul Our inspiration as we grow old you are our brother and our best friend Your in our soul Jason!! Nita nice YO-YO
LOVE how so many legends unite around Jason Becker . . .
Marty's section always is the most emotional
How fabulously stupendous that when he had control over the guitar he had power over people's hearts and minds - now that he has no control over anything, he has been granted the power to influence people's very soul & spirit! this is what an open heart born of intense humility can achieve. imo this is TRUE spirituality.
Thou art in the Music and the Music's in thee. God bless you and God bless.............. We who hear you!
Marty’s playing always gives me goosebumps
Closest we have to Jason’s style
Gilbert is always such a blast to watch!
Wow... Just wow Jason's solo was just top-notch. Also liked Lari Basílio and Gus G a lot.
Dear Jason you are the best guitar player in the hole world, you inspire me all day, cheers from Brazil.

Not only is Jason still going, in his wisdom he's never allowed himself to devolve into bitterness and is still excited to feature other great players. 😊 I'm so proud to have been a fan since my mom bought me my first Cacophony album in the late 80's.🥰😍🤩 Love Ya Jason, keep being you !!

Jason Becker is a legend and I have been a huge fan since the Cacaphony days. Still my favorite guitar player ever. This song is fantastic with so many great players on it.. Thank you Nita for the great music.
dang... the yoyo practically brought a tear to my eye. I think it's because I reminds me of how bionic Jason was and would've been on guitar... and what's the deal with only 80k subscribers people? I'm sure Jason easily has a million fans, so shred that subscribe button!!!!
I second that.
Brings tears to my eyes - tears of joy - love it!
Nita, Marty, and Herman li really drive home the emotional impact. Unreal solo composition
