1) DECIDE YOUR VISUAL MEDIUM, THEN PUT IN THE HOURS TO LEARN IT
- If you aren't using your own photos, you can use animation or graphics softwares like Photoshop, Canva, Snapseed, etc. to help you, Otherwise, don't use your phone unless you don't want people to not take you seriously, get at least a good quality point-and-shoot like the Sony RX series, you can purchase a Sony RX-100 (has zoom lens, large crop sensor for details, High Video Quality) for about $200 and that can take killer video and photo, you could seriously have 10/10 content just with that alone. There's isn't need to have a thousand dollar equipment if the difference is so minimal that users won't notice.
2) DECIDE WHAT YOUR NICHE IS
Have a niche, I mean a specific niche that's different from everything else.
- There's literally thousands upon thousands of fashion influencers, fitness influencers, travel influencers. If you are going to go into those niches, make sure you do it with a twist. Bring some other interest into it that's different that makes you unique and provides value in a demanding void from the public.
For example food blogger/fashion blogger, travel influencer/comedian, fitness influencer/beauty. combine two popular niches and give it that unique twist that only you can because you know and love these two niches. Bringing two or more things together that people normally don't associate together is literally what creativity is.
3) Don't GET CAUGHT IN NUMBERS, WHY?
Because there are loads of accounts that have over 500k followers and they don't make hardly any money because they don't get sponsorships and have a hard time monetizing their account. Generally, as I've seen, accounts that gain followers the easiest often have the hardest time monetizing i.e. niches like Thirst, NSFW, memes, UGC(Fashion, Travel) accounts, because either these accounts generally aren't in a monetizable niche and/or they also generally don't have a strong personal brand or connection to their audience.
Even if you do have a good personal brand monetizing is hard, But it's a lot easier, There are accounts that only have 3k that I know that use it as their main source client acquisition and basically work as a freelancer using IG as their free marketing tool to make a living.
In short the Numbers don't mean a thing, your effectiveness does, and only you can define that.
