Handgun 101: How to Safely Load and Unload a Semi-Auto Pistol and Magazine
This is the first video in a new series of tutorials for new shooters and gun owners. Today we will cover how to safely load and unload a semi-auto pistol with just your hands, as well as loading with a loading assistant/speed loader. The instructor in this video is an Army vet with multiple professional firearms training certifications, over 35-years of experience with guns, and has been a professional firearms instructor in both military and civilian fields for over 7-years.
ALWAYS PLACE SAFETY FIRST DURING TRAINING!
1. Treat every gun as if it were loaded.
2. Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction at all times.
3. Do not point a gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.
4. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to fire.
5. Always positively identify your target before firing.
6. Be aware of what is in front, behind and to the sides of your target.
7. Use a holster when carrying a “loaded” handgun.
8. Keep firearms out of the reach of small children.
9. Always use the correct ammunition for your gun.
10. Train hard, stay safe and have fun!

Hi all. We hope this helps you in learning how to use a pistol safely and effectively. What other types of intro/101-level videos would you like to see?
Adiga Armory grip, stance and how to deal with jams and misfires. Great video!

Clear and concise, video editing was perfect matching what was being said, and very comprehendible. I would like to see one with Mossberg and Maverick etc...

who knows the white dude about 50 years old sounds like a car garage show narrator. he has big hands hell no im gonna troll this one. he sounds like a suburban historian

He wears gloves and long sleeves (because of tattoos?) so I guess he doesn't want to be recognized. Thus I'm sure he pitched down his voice.

As a firearms instructor, charged with training individuals in the safe handling of weapons, thanks for your video. Although basic in nature, the information presented is very important for everyone handling weapons to know. THANKS FOR EDUCATING...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I don’t know that how I appreciate you doing is showing us how to do this safety unload and load THANK YOU SO MUCH❤❤❤❤❤
I liked it very clear for ppl new old learning or just dumb and trust everyone. Always got check.
I’ve never picked up a gun in my life, but when I do, I’ll know just a little better how to stay safe with it. Thanks
Same, I found if there was a safety situation I would at least know how or stay safe!
Everyone should know the basics, at least those covered in the video. If you are assaulted with a gun and have a chance to counter the attacker by pointing the gun towards his face, it would be highly unfortunate to hurt yourself (or unintentionally the attacker, after all, noone needs to end up hurt if he yield after the tables turned...)
Most excellent 👌
Have you had your 8 liters today, Water?
@noucement if someone pulls a gun on me they better be prepared to shoot me, because if I grab it out of their hands I'm def putting one in them...
I just bought a 9mm today for home defense. It is my first handgun. I am thankful for your video as it gives me a basic knowledge on how to handle it. Thank you!
If you haven’t already I recommend taking a beginners handgun class available at most gun stores.
Shotgun in the Home Handgun for Outside the Home especially if you have Wife and Kids
This is the best video I've seen with things broken down to newbie level
Awesome... thank you!
Like many others, I'm just entering the world of firearms so I'm trying to educate myself on all the basics. I've watched a bunch of videos but yours might be the best because it's extremely straightforward and you don't make newbies feel stupid about seemingly simple steps like how to press down the rounds into the magazine. Thank you!
;😅😊
Exac. I really liked it slow and its important to see each detail
This was absolutely the best beginner crash course in how to properly load and unload a gun
I’ve watched several times. I love this tutorial
I recently acquired my Concealed Carry License in Florida, and although I am fairly proficient in the safe use of firearms, it’s always nice to get a professional refresher course in gun safety.
@SuperHuscarl 1066, Firearms training is a perishable skillset , and should be continuous. Refresher at the minimum every 6 months
You sounding real sus with the no fingerprints on your bullets “Incase they are found at a crime scene” lol
Red sus
Gun you can swap parts on, intend to use it too. Guys out her shooting first no questions later, no joke.
@@deandrehenderson9214 yeah but the guns registered in your name anyways lmao
Lol I’m curious too, like where do you live that things happen fast. My man is always ready for action.

I have been around firearms for a while, and I have to admit that I like how you are so precise and consistent in instructing the basics. I find the concept of protecting your fingerprints from your shells reasonable to me.
I totally agree
Yup me too. Better safe than sorry
Wtf
My loaded firearms at home are Always fingerprint free and for more reasons than explained here...😏
I used to flush tissues down the toilet after blowing my nose instead of putting them in the trash, for this reason. All a crook has to do is drop some of your trash at the crime scene, and that might frame you, as though any criminal would dump their own there.
Even as a seasoned shooter with my glock, I still watch this just to keep myself brushed up. Complacency kills❤️
As someone who is doing as much research as I can about exercising my 2nd amendment right, you give So much helpful advice and don't make me feel bad about Not knowing these things BUT I AM TRYING!!!
Welcome to the club... and glad to have you with us! Don't ever feel bad. None of us were born knowing anything about this stuff. You will get there... just keep going! 💪🤘
Journeyman plumber here, that's exactly what I tell all of my apprentices: None of us were born knowing this stuff! And - never feel ashamed of learning. Great video!
Amen
💯%! SAME!! 😁 xxx
"about exercising my 2nd amendment right" Typical American bullshit talk.
I never used a semiautomatic and hadn’t been shooting for 15 years. So this was exactly what I was looking for. The other 20 beginner videos I sifted through were all about “how to point and shoot”. 🙄
Thank you for your thorough review. I haven't used my gun for 2 yrs due to Cancer treatments. I am now cancer free & finally able to rebuild my strength. I feel like a new owner & I am reviewing the basics before going to the range or carrying. Again, this was a great reintroduction that will help me to reaquaint myself with my 9MM Smith & Wesson M&P Shield
Congrats 👏 on beating cancer.
congratulations on "cancer free"! That is awesome
Thank you.
@@Rich-yj4ub Thank you
I've never fired a gun in my life but I was curious about how a semi-auto functions. This was a very clear and detailed explanation that should be mandatory viewing for all new gun owners.
Who else (in western europe) watching this after too many American videos on youtube? 😀
Looking forward to seeing more videos! Great breakdown 👍Purchased your CLP and hands down best CLP I have ever used.
Thank you for taking the time to break things down for us ‘newbies’. It is certainly appreciated!
Watched this for self awareness incase of the worst scenario, thank you for this!
Sir, thank you a lot for the video!
Excellent presentation. It's been a while since I've been to the range. This was a great refresher. Safety first. 👍🏼
that was fantastic, thank you so much! very helpful and clear with nothing to question
This was very very helpful !! Thank you
Im an experienced shooter, but havent been able to get out an shoot in awhile. Just bought a new handgun for my wife and was great to be able to sit down with her and watch this video together. It was great info for her and great refresher for me, things you don't even think to refresh. Anyway, thanks, very helpful!
Thank you and congrats to your wife on the new hardware! May it serve her well for years to come!

I'm a first time gun owner & this was a big help, bc of how clearly it was explained. Thank you!
Thank you sir! You answered my questions where other videos failed to share. New owner now more confident in handling my fire arm! 👍
Great video thank you, just wish you opened up about the rubber gloves in the beginning because it made a whole lot good points
I like the way you taken your time with the practical
I've started working at a gun range and this was really helpful. Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video. Showing me the magazine release and safety lever and how to carry it when around ppl was very helpful.
Going to the shooting range tomorrow for CWP with a gun I’ve never fired. This was truly helpful and I’ve gotten a lot of info. Been practicing for a week all the safety measures. This video was awesome.
Thanks for posting. I am a newbie thinking about purchasing my first pistol and this helped a lot.
Awesome... welcome, and get some!
I purchased my 1st.. G2c
What pistol did you end up buying I have a springfield xd9
@@aaronmadethat3734 haven’t purchased one yet but leaning towards a 9 too.
@Jason Hernadez gotta start somewhere, what do you think this video is for? Why are you watching it?
Thank You! This video cover some of the basics that many other videos take for granted.
Gun owner for 4 months. Learning on the fly. After pinching my finger again today when I had it over the ejector while pushing in the mag, I decided to watch your video again. The finger will go straight out from now on, and nowhere near the top of the slide. This is like golf, so many things to remember. 😊
Much respect on the professionalism, insight, and overall approach. This video was incredibly helpful and enjoyable, thank you for providing this.
Thank you! I am a new gun owner and although I know much of what you taught, it was great to refresh the memory. So many great points you brought out. I appreciate you taking the time in a non condescending manner and just straight thru taught what needed to be taught. Again, thank you.
Thank you! This video cover some of the basics that other videos take for granted
One of those new gun owners here! Thanks so much for the very informative video.
Thank you so much for that last bit about the internal safety features! I've been concealed to carry (before our law changed) but have been terrified to carry with one in the chamber because I didn't want it to fire somehow on its own. Even though I know the firing pin has to hit that round. I appreciate that! 😊
No problem... glad it helped. A good holster is critical for carrying with a hot one in the pipe. As long as the trigger is protected, and your gun is designed to be carried loaded [as are most modern pistols and revolvers], you should be good to go.
Very helpful and informative. Great job introducing a new gun owner on how to safely load and unload a semi-automatic handgun. Thank you.
Thank you... glad it was helpful!
Excellent video.
Why is this channel so professional? Got my first gun after getting out of the military, loving this channel!
So respectfully explained and clearly demonstrated, thank you sir.
This is a great video glad I found it. For my job I am having to get armed im very excited but don't have much experience.
Best of luck! Stay safe out there.
love the video, really helpful and insightful advice on the fingerprint part.
Glad it was helpful!
Wait a minute
😂🤣
i had a loaded semi-automatic pistol stolen from me in a home burglery. Never thought about prints on the casings. Oy vey!
Excellent. My pistol experience is limited to the few times one of my friends has taken me to the local range. Due to Covid I had to wait six months to be fingerprinted at the county sheriff’s office for my Concealed Carry, which just arrived in the mail a few days ago. I’ll be going out with one of those previously mentioned friends this week to go pistol shopping. Thx for the well-done safety primer! Cheers from Washington state.
best video on gun basics,i have seen many
Well, you answered the question I had that wasn't answered in the 8 videos I watched before yours. Thank you.
What was the question? Curious beginner here looking to learn something
@@nickferrer9733 I cant remember now. lol. But he answered what I was looking for. I think it was about loading it.
Hi there! I'm new to firearms and this is a FANTASTIC 101-level video!!! Watching your video has made me feel more comfortable with the loading/unloading of a firearm. Thanks so much for sharing all of your insight on effective pistol safety.
Thanks for your support Continue to teach us
Got my first gun ever. Perfect video to get started. Next on the list: a competent instructor to take it to the next level.
I just learned I have been loading my magazine using the incorrect hand configuration; I switched hands as the video instructs and had an easier and smoother loading of my magazines. Thanks for the video.
Love this video. It was easier to follow you than the guy at the gun shop, so thank you very much.
4:30 I was actually wondering why my slide wouldn’t stay back without a mag until I saw this video. Great tips and great points made. Thank you for that.
16:12 Came here to verify exactly this after seeing a video of a guy shooting his own hand because he thought it was clear after taking the cartridge out. Thanks for the detailed guide, man
Thank you! this video was exactly what I was looking for. Never handling a gun with a clip is not as easy as people would think.
Trolling through KZhead and I found your video. I've been shooting since I was a kid. I'm 57 now and retired law enforcement and a gun lover. Great job with the video! The glove🤐 thing is right on point. Once again excellent post!
Very clear and precise training of loading and unlocking a pistol 🔫 Who cares if it seems elementary to some but overall it’s a great video Never too late for continuous training Thanks
As someone who's about to buy a g19 for general self defense cc. I have 0 prior firearm experience. This video has helped me understand quite alot that I did not know. I feel comfortable now with going to buy one without endangering the saftey of others around me.
This is a top tier video for beginners and even great as a refresher for experienced shooters!! Thanks!
Love your vid man. The black background and lighting are really nicely done.
This kid is well spoken, meticulous & very technical ... could easily listen all day

Honestly same this was like watching an episode of Dora as an adult😭😭😭 still a great vid tho🤷🏽♂️
Wow. Thank you so much!! I’m new and learning from classes and other owners. Thank you for doing this. You addressed something that I was concerned with.

Thank you for this video. I'm a newbie and this was very helpful. I didn't realize how hard it was to load ammo!
Excellent demo/tutorial! Thank you, sir. You got yourself a sub!
I love this demonstration, and I love how you showed us how to remove the last one in the barrel.
Newbie right here. Guns are a whole new realm for me. This is super helpful!
Thank you for making such a detailed video. So many take a lot for granted when instructing beginners, and on a side note you answered a question about glocks I had for ages.
Glad it was helpful!
I’m here because I work at a school. If there’s a school shooter and the last and only option is to “fight” then I want to at least have the knowledge on how to unload it, so I skipped the “how to load it” part. You can call me paranoid. I accept it lol. Thank you for being so specific
Not paranoid... just prepared. One of the reasons I took my kids out of public school is because the state didn't allow teachers to carry.
This is the best and clearest demo
Thank you for this video! You helped me understand everything i needed to know regarding loading and unloading. You are a great instructor! I won't even go to a range or shoot my gun until I know all the ins and outs of my Gun, as well how to safely use it!
love the instruction. Practical with emphasis on safety. Also, great how you take someone with little or no experience. Well done sir.
Great video, a must for new shooters and gun owners
Thank you. I needed a beginner video like this.
As a new firearms owner...you made loading that ammo look waaaayyyy easier than it felt the first time. I don't think my magazine has been fully loaded.
Those new mag springs can be pretty tough. A decent mag loader can certainly help. Have fun, stay safe.
Thank you ! I'm a newbie and I loved the way you broke it down where it is easy to understand ! I hope you make more videos for us newbies.
Excellent instruction. Thank you for your time. I am sincerely grateful.
Not new to shootings but am a new gun owner, best info for me here was the understanding why you dont follow the pull back. Good information
Fantastic... I'm a NGO and wanted clear instructions how to load my magazine the RIGHT way, especially with the very strong spring in the Ed Brown magazines I have. Thanks!
As a first time (soon) gun owner I really appreciate this gun safety overview. Much appreciated.
THANK YOU! You answered all of my most important questions!
I appreciate this video because you ace someone out here who may want to learn to shoot and any video that shows them ALL the steps and not his to just sim and pull the trigger. Again, thanks.
My Hellcat 9mm was stuck like this so I called my local range to have their gunsmith fix it. They said they don't have the expertise at that shop but if I drove their other shop, (over an hour one way) the gunsmith there was an expert and he could fix it. I had no idea you could dislodge the round so easily and I just looked on KZhead as a last resort. It worked like a charm and saved me time and money. Thank you VERY VERY much for you video!
New gun owner here. This video was excellent! Truly helpful, informative and insightful. THANK YOU!!
Well done training video. Pleased I took the time to review these basics.
Excellent instructional video. All responsible new weapons owners absolutely need to watch this. Even folks who’ve owned weapons all their lives, like me (my parents were Texans so..), need to watch this. Not because we need to learn anything new. But to learn how to properly TEACH weapons safety.
The BEST detailed, crystal clear, video, easy to follow step by step instructions!! Perfect for newbies AND owner like me of 15 years!!
This video is awesome. I have friends that want to buy a gun and have never shot before. So I will definitely share this amazing video. Thanks sir for this thorough video and for making it very easy to understand.
❤Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and instructions on how to safely handle a firearm. Thanks for sharing your knowledge sir. May God continues to bless you !
Truely an amazing educational video for the new bees. Looking forward for more such detailed educational videos. Kudos Adiga Armory..
All I needed was to learn about how to clear. I'll never fire a gun. I just wanted to know safety points. Thanks for teaching.

This is a great video, I just took a basic pistol permit safety course. I haven't bought my gun yet but I watched 1000 safety videos and am already very informed on how to be cautious, And this video adds more to my knowledge. Thank you.
Thank you! I purchased my first gun for the very reason at the beginning of your video and this helps me tremendously!
