The Most Dangerous Moutain Pass In The World - Sani Pass - South Africa - only 4x4 vehicles allowed
The route up Sani Pass starts at 1544 m, and climbs 1332 vertical metres to an altitude of 2876 m. The road is a steep gravel road with gradients up to 1:3, which can be difficult to drive in bad weather and may be covered with snow and ice in winter. By South African law only 4x4 vehicles are allowed on the road.

Hi, dit was om weer terug te kom in SA in. Jy kan uit gaan sonder 'n toets, maar nie in SA in kom nie. Lesotho doen nie toetse op hulle grens nie, so jy sal seker na 'n dorp toe moet ry om 'n toets in Lesotho te doen . Maar ek weet nie hoe die sake nou daar staan nie. Dit was to ek Desember daar was. Sani is pretty straight forward. Any AWD or 4WD will do it.
In fact, a little 2WD Chana made it. And, no, it isn't the world's most dangerous mountain pass. Try those passes in Asia for that.

Great video, drove it day before yesterday, scary as hell but quite doable in the correct vehicle. One thing I didn't do but wish I had was to deflate the tires. Very rocky, would have helped with traction and comfort inside the vehicle.

Hi Happy 4x4 ing,I built that pub for the original owners when the hotel was first erected,the only vehicles that could make it up there were serious 4x4 s and Nissan 1400 😂

Ek het die pas 5 keer gery, elke keer om sneeu te sien, onsuksesvol, net vreeslike koue beleef. Nou woon ons in Strand, so ek sal dit nie maklik weer kan beleef nie. Sover ek weet is die teerpad vanaf Sanie pas tot by Mokhlotong nie die hoogste nie, wel die Tlaeeng pas, 3255m hoog. As jy dit nog nie gedoen het nie, doen n toer deur die ooste en suide kante van Lesotho. Ongelooflik mooi. Ek sal die weer wil doen, maar in die somer.
Hi, ja ek was gelukkig om een maal daar sneeu te sien, al was dit maar min, maar dit was BAIE koud daar bo. Dis maar moeilik as mens ver bly om jou "timing' so te kry dat dit sneeu sonder dat die pas gesluit word. Ek wil nog een keer daar bo oornag (vas sneeu), maar dis vrek duur. Dankie dat jy gekyk het. Hi Hendri...lovely video...probably the best in terms of how to gauge the difficulty in traversing the pass. How does the Sani Pass compare to the Swartberg Pass which is close to Oudtshoorn?

The Sani pass isn’t that bad. If you have a 4x4 or even great ground clearance you good. Deflate your tyres, go slow and focus and you are good.

Hi as jy in 1ste LWD opry met automatic overheat die gearbox nie?
Hi, wel nee, die Pajero het 'n 'oil cooler' vir the ratkas olie, ek het geen probleem gehad nie. Ek was in "Low Range" van die SA grenspos tot bo. Ons het hier en daar gestop waar die Pajero gestaan en luier (afkoel)het, maar gladnie gestop omdat ek moes nie. Ek dink as jou voertuig nie "Low Range" het nie, dan kan die radkas dalk warm word. Hoop dit help, dankie dat julle kyk, groete Hendri.
Suzuki Grand Vitara auto het geen issues gehad nie, op in low range met locks gesluit, maar toe ons bo uitkom kon jy die ratkas olie ruik. Gaan nou vervang en reg vir die volgende een!

In the dry: YES, but legaly:NO In terms of the legislation in place it is illegal to drive up Sani in anything other than 4 x 4. The South African border post often check this, and will prevent you from driving up the pass unless you have an appropriate vehicle
Could a Caravan in tow make it to the top ??
