WARNING: This report contains images of body bags and the accounts of what volunteers found, which may cause distress.
Three thousand people volunteer across Israel for Zaka - an organisation that honours the bodies of the dead in the most respectful way possible.
Zaka members were some of the first on the scene following last weekend's attacks by Hamas.
A week on, their work is still ongoing - as Sky's Stuart Ramsay discovered in southern Israel.

    • Be careful of Israeli misinformation, don't believe guys like this without independent verification. The '40 beheaded babies' claim turned out to be without any evidence. Ditto that claim made by the British Minister that people were 'raped to death'. War crimes are terrible and should be punished, but don't believe this kind of reporting blindly. Right now Israel is gearing up to break heads in Gaza and claims of war crimes are a good way of justifying your own war crimes.

    • I doubt people are defending Hamas. I see a lot of people defending Palestinians. Which is not the same considering the majority of Palestinians don't believe they're represented by Hamas.   • I met a woman a few years ago who said her husband at the time was responsible for collecting dead bodies after Katrina and that he was never the same again and it led to their divorce. I feel sorry for these heroes who are doing this important work.

    • In Judaism, treating the dead with respect, is important in Judaism, this group has gone to the areas and try to get every piece of human remains for burial. The bodies then are are lovingly cleaned, placed in a white shroud and buried.

  • The prevarication and excuse making from the Palestinian people in response to these atrocities is an utter disgrace. They barely allowed the Isreali people time to absorb what had just happened to their people before they were out there in the streets showing support for the side that had just committed these acts and trying to make it all about them and their own greivances and fears. What an utterly selfish response. Those protests should have been against Hamas, to make it clear that their community does not support the use of barbarism to further its aims. If they had responded with even the most basic level of empathy or decency, I would have been willing to hear them out about their own perspectives on this conflict, but I cant support a community that has its priorities and its values so utterly twisted.
