I distinctly remember a lot of auto journalists at the time saying the design of this car is a throwback to the breadvan or Ferrari shooting brakes of the past. I agree with that, i actually really like the styling of this car.

I was getting the DSG serviced at my favorite mechanic down in Huntington Beach. It’s a business park with lots of aftermarket mechanics. Next door is a McClaren mechanic but they were also servicing either an FF or GTC4Lusso. That car is insanely crazy. It’s a much more gigantic car than you think. I was really weirded out by its gigantic size. That’s a huge car.
Man, there is NOTHING else that sounds like a Ferrari V-12. That is a completely unique, and totally incredible sound!
That exhaust note makes $100,000 feels even more bargain ❤️

Long time ago I worked for a very rich man on a 1 week contract. We were at his house in the morning getting ready to start and his son pulled up in this! And it's been 10 years and I have never spotted another one!

I thought about getting one of these recently but ended up going for the GTC4Lusso instead. They've already depreciated 40%+, so I'm exposing myself to more future depreciation, but the Lussos are five years newer, still have manufacturer warranty, etc. I felt the probability of several extra years of reliable driving was worth it. Great GT car for family weekend trips. No dogs, but it's taken rubbish to the recycling center.

I'd imagine that the depiction of the open trunk on that plastic piece is to show that it's the manual latch release under that cover.
Yes, Ferraris are made in EU, where such a symbol and latch are required by law. This only applies to trunks that could possibly fit a person inside. In case you get locked in there to give you a hint on how to set yourself free.

@@matthiaskettner6686 The maintanence isn't so bad with Ferraris anymore. It's just that people that want a used Ferrari tend to want a 2 seater with the engine behind them. There's a lot less glam with one of these for people wanting a supercar.

I see this as a plus: when the infotainment will break the replacement won't cost thousands of dollars AND you can upgrade it easily with an aftermarket hi-end infotainment system

Hi Doug, The quirk of the seatbelt arm that bring the seatbelt to you is actually quite common. My 1998 Mercedes CL600 has this feature as well as my 2008 Mercedes CLK350. It definitively is a great feature.
Just a note: I'm 5'6" which leaves plenty of room for the rear seats. I don't sit that far back..I like it closer and lean the back of my seat back a bit. and I like to lower the steering wheel. Anyhow... by putting the front seats closer to the front.. leaves ample room for a 6'4" strapping guy in the back. Right? Especially in the GTC4 LUSSO..
Only Ferrari I’ve ever seen parked on a steep dirt embankment in a national park. Props to the owner for actually using their Italian shooting brake!
I personally LOVE this car. I love it's shooting brake style, I love the fact that is family usable, it does 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, a Ferrari V-12, and the paddles are METAL. I LOVE THIS CAR

I'll never understand people who hate on this car...it's a shooting brake of sorts, so yes, it doesn't look the same as a 458. But, it does have the glorious V12, and some practicality and space (not to mention lower prices)! This car is one of the overall best Ferraris you can get right now.

@@ramses8847 the GTC4 is basically the updated version of the FF. More tech I think, the back seats are a little bit bigger. Still a 2-door though. Also, the GTC4 is offered with a V8 or a V12, meanwhile the FF only has the V12

@@ruk2023-- The dial on the steering wheel to set driving modes is rare; in production cars, I have seen it only on Ferraris. In this respect, a consumer road-going Ferrari is the same as an F1 racing Ferrari. Other brands access driving modes thru menus and multiple buttons that need to be pressed for various lengths of time and make the sporting modes obscure.
Doug is the type of guy who knows the correct word for things since forever, but mispronounce them for fun cause…he has a million plus followers KZhead account. So we’re blessed with terms like “coupp ” (correct is Coupay, French word) and “Official hooking switch” (correct is Manettino, everybody says Manettino….except Doug, our official douche youtuber 😁)

For my 20th Anniversary last month I rented a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso with my wife and our two kids (12 and 16). We drove it from Miami to Key West and back. It’s very similar to the FF but better looking grill. It was “only” a V8 twin turbo but the sound was amazing and the performance was jaw dropping. It felt very much like the MP4-12C we had rented in Las Vegas a few years ago. Both have around 600 HP. Both very light. But this Ferrari was just so practical and the turning speed and precision is incredible. Wish I could buy one! Definitely recommend!
I love the Shooting Break design. I have a lowered Audi A3 Sportback that has a similar look as a four door.

I recently saw a video of a five year old FF. The owner felt seriously depressed. The car had rust, the ceiling came down, the backlight-parts had corrision, the door panels were loose, the check engine light was brighter than the sun. The car only had about 15.000 mls.

The FF is very nice. Still remember talking to Ken Lingenfelter one time and asked him what his favorite car was in his massive collection and he said his FF. A couple years ago I was at a hotel in Chicago and an NHL player was staying there and he had a gorgeous dark green FF and he was traveling with his wife and two small kids. Still remember it starting up too in the morning, sounded so good.
Tommy Hilfiger had a dark green Ferrari too. I can't remember if it was the FF or a 456. It was up for sale on dupontregistry.com.

the radio is perfect! It's an Alpine, I believe. Its the same as what we have in our 2011 Rubicon and is the best radio I've seen.

In design terms, I agree with you. But you ain't getting a V12 Golf GTI or BMW 1 series anytime soon. On looks alone, it's a hot hatchback. In every other measurable way, it's an exotic car.

I love the look it reminds me of the look of the Z4 with a hard top. And of course it has the Ferrari drama! I love also the fact that it is a Ferrari to go skiing. That would never have been possible before.
The diagram shown at 6:20 is there to show the panel to take off in order to access the emergency mechanical trunk release. This release can be used if the electronic release fails or when the battery is dead so you would still be able to access the trunk.
That's what I suspected it was for. I wouldn't be surprised if it glowed in the dark too, in case you got kidnapped and were locked in the back!
I really like these because of how unique they are. It's both ugly and cool at the same time.

It is good to hear Doug talk about reliability . Usually he touts these high end used cars as a great deal...they ARE NOT a good deal. You pay astronomical charges for upkeep when these luxury sports cars go out fo warranty and thats why they depreciate the way they do.

As an ‘80s kid, my only Ferrari dream car was a Tesstarossa convertible, and I didn’t care for any other Ferrari since then. That has now changed today!! I so want this car, because I’m so practical!!
@@yungboicontigo9278 The F40 was was the most powerful and most expensive Ferrari in the late 80s, was last vehicle approved by Enzo, even though after his death, most were just parked and admired. I always found the the rear spoiler out of place, almost like a slanted shoe box. However the Testarossa was epic, thanks to Crocket and Tubbs! I thought it was the ultimate image of excess and sex appeal! Although I heard it drove poorly.

When You revieved a Mercedes 'shooting-brake' that was not a shooting-brake but a regular station wagon, You were astonished that it looks like a regular station wagon, which it is. When You are reviewing a true shooting-brake, You call it a hatchback for some reason. FF is the best example of a shooting-brake body style there is.
