That's a converted model 1859 or 1863. You can see the difference to the later cartridge models at the close look on the lock. It still has the primer magazine. On these early cartridge models they only changed the hammer, the breechblock and took out the now unnecessary parts of the primer. The models that were used by the US Army at this time used a .54 rimfire cartridge. Later they took the .50/70.

This is Clint’s personal favorite.I can see why.
I think unforgiven may be his personal favorite.
Both classics and great movie's.
My favorite scene!
Best movie.
From the book Gone To Texas Clint Eastwood made a brilliant movie its one of the best western ever made
I cannot find that book. Do you think they may have changed the title?
THE BEST DAM WESTERN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well mr. Carpet bagger....we have a thing in this territory called a Missouri boat ride!!!
Best film made for years
“It’ll do just about anything will it? How is it on stains?”
I advise you to turn back, captain.
After all, fat, stupid and drunk is no way to go through life son.
Jack's Pick Phone i
Charles hahahahahahahaha
Excellent advice. Too bad the arrogant "Captain Red Legs" didn't take it. He paid a heavy price for not doing so. Serves him right.
I love this movie!!
I miss TBS Clint Eastwood marathon every Thanksgiving
Just love it. Got to love it.
Ol Missoura boat ride ....love it
Whupped 'em again, Josie.
Love Clint... badass gunner with sensibility
Anyone who loves this movie needs to read the book. And the sequel. Clint bought the rights to the sequel, "The Vengeance Trail of Josie Wales", and was supposed to make a movie of it as well. Never happened, unfortunately, as the story is just as good. Highly recommend reading it.
Read it too g
whooped them again Josey!!!
Gotta love the old Sharps. During the Civil War so many new cartridge and rifle designs were patented.
The best Western ever made.
Best scene ever.
CLASSIC!
They play the Dixie music at the end lol such a great film
I wish I was in Dixie, look away look away, in Dixieland I'll take my stand away down south in Dixie!
I believe it's "In Dixieland, I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie." (No offense intended.) Be well and be safe.
Emuel stills the scene!
And that river is swift deep and cold
It's realistic when they said he could only get a couple up front. If this movie was made today Josey would fire his rifle and kill them all in rapid fire succession.
My favorite Clint movie ever!
Love the song and the movie
Outside the spaghetti westerns this is one of his best
At best he will get two or three up front.
I've never seen a bad Clint Eastwood movie!
Play Misty for me.
Bronco Billy
The Bridges of Madison County. Good grief, that was a stinker. But, Clint did innumerable classics. Too many to mention.
Bronco Billy had some good scenes but he wanted a movie to star Sondra Locke in. It wasn't his best. I really didn't like The Gauntlet. Now there was a stinker.@@rodneygilbert5183
You gonna draw them pistols or are you gonna whistle Dixie ,good cowboy movie
All ya needed was to sing “Look away, look away Dixie Land” and you’d be livin like The Outlaw Josey Wales! ✌🏽🇺🇸🙏
I love a good boat ride!
*"A Missouri Boat Ride!"*
The Missouri boat ride. Like it, Yankees?
I like the Missouri boat ride!
Lol we call it "missour boat ride & music 🎶 with it perfect 🤣
I may have to watch this again..
When ol' captain Terrell said " at best he'll do is get two or three up front at picking em' off one by one" if i was up front, i'd say then you come up front here our fearless leader.
Lemuel is my favorite character in this movie.
Should've had a sequel featuring him. Lol
What a piece of kit that rifle is.
I love that sharps rifle with the long brass scope.
Favorite Clint Eastwood movie
This film has every type of character, its like a look back in time to how the West really was 👍
I have got this movie DVD as it is my favourite Clint Eastwood movie DVD of the late Sondra Locke and John Vernon in The Outlaw Josey Wales I am dedicating this movie DVD to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxx
What a great movie vintage Clint
