My Staffy loved going to the local vet, but they closed down and the building is now someone's house. Now, whenever we walk past, he sits down by the door and refuses to move.
@@Ardwick-Crome I've got a Staffordshire too. She love going anywhere that she gets attention and meets new people including the vet. She's a little over seven and a half, and I don't think she has ever realized she was getting a shot. Staffys are awesome, aren't they?
@@allentuggle2837 My boy loves people too. If there's anyone within 20 yards he'll plonk himself down and wait for them to say hello. A mile walk can take an hour. He's 10 1/2 now and aside from his greying muzzle, he's the same as he was as a puppy.
The most heartwarming part is that all of these dog owners take care of their dogs.

I have 3 baby girl ferrets. I take them all together to the vets and they are only separated momentarily while he handles them one at a time. They are afraid of injections, but I hold them if they are wriggling. Pets are like children. They don't understand medicine, but they know that they are safe while their humans are there. Thank God for credit cards ;-)

Not any more. As a practicing vet for over thiry years, I’ve seen the attitudes change from “thank you for helping my pet” to “Veterinarians only care about money.” My practice took big reductions in profits so more animals can get treatment and I still would get that hateful response from quite a few pet owners.
Some dogs don't like the vet, others do...
I had a Doberman that absolutely loved visiting the vet. All I had to do was say "vet" and he would run to the car and if I wasn’t careful, he would bust his way into the vet’s office. Fortunately for me, all the people who worked there were very fond of Max too.

Dogs that are this anxious at the vet have either had a bad experience in the past (a careless or uncaring vet perhaps), or their owner is transmitting their own anxiety. It's the same with children who panic over getting a needle. None of my dogs have ever had a problem going into the vets' and don't panic over needles or other procedures. Treats can help them feel it's a good experience.
That's a bit simplistic - but yes if your dog is good shape , healthy - they should be fine - but during lockdown ,often owner , couldn't go in . If awaiting a surgery etc , or post-op , strong smells of fear permeate in recovery and pre-opt area , distressed out cats and maybe other dogs, nothing familiar . Think about it as a human ,you love flying a weekend trip to Paris or NYC , holiday in Tahiti , flying with kids on a sports trip . you love flying as means something great ,did you get in 2 years, having to organise sudden flights half way around world as family member is dead or is so close-. not even time to bathe before getting that flight , not such good associations now. Being put on a high bench , strange smells , being shaved , swabs up your nose , owner not there as covid etc . Again simplistic over needle phobia ,it's not just because parents transmit fear , my son first years were fine , then had a real painful jab , then took a few more jabs to be less stressed,, Not all stress or fear is bad , a poor response , otherwise we wouldn't need it as an evolutionary tool . Great your dogs were fine , most are , but if I see a stressed out dog at the vet , I'm normally sympathetic , not judgemental of vet or owners are doing it wrong , and I'm so much better . TBF you probably don't mean it that way - but it can read that way - if the owner thinks their dog has kidney failure , cancer , a sharp object in their stomach hard not to be anxious - I seen people collapse in shock at the vets with bad news . To put in in perspective avery top professional athlete has been psyched out , stressed into bad performance throughout their career - and they are the best of the best = You and I have too - we learn and try better next time
Never understood people complaining about their pets throwing tantrum fits, both of my service dogs handled vet visits without the drama or nipping their veterinarians. They have watched me go to many of my medical appointments, that usually includes a visit to vampires, and lab technicians with my ADA-SA watching their every move. If I wince at one of the jabs, Buddy or Bopsy is right there in a flash to give their nose boops. Train them, and showing them there is nothing to fear when visiting your doctor or their vets early on in their pup years reduces needless tantrums, stress or anxieties.

I thought I knew a lot about dogs bc I had them until I began grooming. It’s a new ballgame when you are dealing with dogs that aren’t yours. I’m good at coaching and making bonds but dogs can only express themselves in few ways. And sometimes faster is the best most humane way to go about a task. The longer it takes the stress just builds quickly and that is really rough.

All these pups are TOO FRKN CUTE!!! I miss my boy❤ 😢At 6:24 that pup sounds like a human baby 😂. Of course people don't enjoy seeing their kids, human or animal, suffer or go through pain. To say this video is like animal abuse is just .... well, a bit much. We have to take ALL family members for check ups to keep them healthy. There's no harm in recording your loved pet to have those memories for later. Lighten up people. At least they're taking their fur babies to the vet and not neglecting their health 🐕🐶❤

I understand these dogs because during my childhood I get well immediately my mother says we are going to the doctor when I'm sick 😢😢😢. I still fear injection till today and I'm 22💉😭😭😭😭

You should see a hidden camera at a groomer!
I think sometimes the dog is reacting to the camera rather than the situation. All of a sudden, it can see another dog. It doesn't understand it's a reflection.
It is the smell of fear and death left by other dogs that were/are in that place... Dogs do not care too much about "see" as it is not the primary sense for dogs(they have limited perception of colors as they are able to see only combinations of yelow and blue).

Unfortunately Shiba Inu's are not the smartest dogs. I'm a veterinarian assistant and Shiba Inu's ARE cute, just not very bright. They panic over every little thing.

Dogs have anxiety because the owners have anxiety. Stop making a fuss about going to the vet; don’t cuddle and pet and reassure. Just be calm, make the dog sit.

I have anxiety, my late dog was protective of us both..But he only had eyes for me, and didn't care for 'strangers' sticking thermometers up his arse, trying to eyeball him, grabbing his chin shining lights in his eyes, sticking him with needles..I don't blame him. That little white dog trembling in fear is shocking..the vet needs to comfort it, but too busy.

The smells can be off putting for dogs, the fact that they get things stuck into them, up them and it’s all done by unfamiliar people, plus they often don’t feel well……. all of this relates to the word “vet”, so it has less to do with their owners feeling anxious and more to do with their own uncomfortable experiences.
I agree many people probably don’t help their dog’s anxiety, but not all. I don’t make a fuss when my dog goes to the vet and he was ok when he was a pup then shorty after he started stressing out about it, he’s now 4 and is a nightmare, sadly for him it just makes me laugh 😂
Is this just me? I find it really disturbing that these poor dogs are suffering pain, fear and anxiety...and their owners are laughing at them. It's not funny, people. This is the time to comfort your pets and show your support. Don't be heartless. Your dogs see that you're getting a kick of their terror, and for them that's probably the worst part of the ordeal: Every time they go to the vet, you betray them by treating their panic as a big joke.

Emotional over reaction. If they didn’t love and support their pets, they wouldn’t be taking them to the vet. They are not laughing at their dog’s pain and fear but at their quirky behaviours at the time. Stop with the virtue signalling.
You’re 100% right. However, people all want to believe they’re perfect and never do anything wrong, so they won’t admit that laughing at their pet is a mistake. I do find these clips funny, but you’re right that the pets are actually anxious and maybe even terrified. Our laughter comes from a lack of empathy. Thanks for the reminder that we can and should do better.
It’s just you, sorry. If you’re a responsible pet owner, you take your pet to the vet if needed. And when you do, it’s always better to look at the positive side of it, as your pet will pick up on your distress otherwise.
