  • The jnterestjng part is that there's strictly no alcohol to be had in the stadium before, during or after the match. Any alcohol has to be consumed away from the ground. Many will go for a drink before and after the match. As a result, the matches where there are the strongest rivalries are almost always very early kick-offs so they don't have as much time to get drunk before the game. But, the songs will be sung no matter what state of inebriation there ie.

(The French President Mitterrand embargoed the sale of French weapons to Argentina but had already supplied Argentina with Exocet missiles that killed over 80 Brits. The French owned company that made the Exocets breached the presidential embargo, stayed in Argentina during this war, continued to train the Argentinians in their use of Exocets and somehow 3 launch sites that didn’t work and couldn’t be fixed by the Argentinians before the war, suddenly started working and launched missiles.)

(Not sure about one of them though) You said you wanted to know who that Scottish Guy they sang about was and he was the Scottish Manager in those days. They were England fans mocking the Scots in their own Stadium in Glasgow as England qualified for The World Cup Finals in Moscow and Scotland was eliminated by.......England:) In the old days there used to be 134,000 Scottish fans at that match between Scotland and England.

  • I was born in the north east of England, and I've been a Newcastle fan, since birth. There was kind of no other option in our house 😆. Anyway I moved to Somerset at 25, they're all Liverpool or Man U down here 🙄. We took our grandkids up to Newcastle. My husband and their mum, surprised me with a tour of St James' Park. So now, they tell their Dad and Grandad, who are staunch Liverpool fans, that they support Newcastle. That went down like a lead balloon 😆😂. And yes I teach them the clean chants, all the time. They've also spoken the odd Geordie word, since learning to talk.

  • Gordon Strachan = Scot who played for various Scottish and English teams, notably Manchester United and Leeds United (famous for being enthusiastic tacklers, enjoying the odd internecine punch up now and again). Then Gordon went into football management. Here fans are referring to his management of the Scotland team 2013-2017. 2018 the World Cup took place in Russia. Hence the Scots ‘aren’t going to Moscow’. Scotland vs England matches are infamous. Although the Scotland team rarely features many Premier League players of huge note, the Scots play like men possessed and as a team. This World Cup, though, the Scotland team includes Andrew Robertson of Liverpool (yay); John McGinn of Aston Villa; Scott McTominay of Man Utd; Billy Gilmour on loan to Norwich from Chelsea and Kieran Tierney from Arsenal and the only PL player I’ve heard of who’s from the Isle of Man. Scotland might qualify for the World Cup group B with play offs against England, USA and Iran. The Scots have to beat Wales and Ukraine first to get into this group stage. Nothing much rhymes with USA but there’s a fair chance there’ll be a chant featuring their nickname. NB - ‘septics’ doesn’t rhyme with much either.

  • I'm not a football fan, unless it's England playing an important game. The chants are amazing; they use famous music to chant their stuff to. I had four brothers and one of them loved football. The first game he ever watched was Manchester City competing with another team. Manchester City won and from that day he supported them. They've got great colours as well - pale blue and white. You may be a little shy or inhibited but if you came over to England specifically to watch an England game you would throw caution to the wind; I could see it as you sang along and clapped. Great one Connor.

You have to be as offensive as possible (but creatively) and the better you are at cutting close to the bone without causing genuine insult is how the game is played. The sentiment is almost never meant, but it's how cutting your insult is. Banter is what it's called. Enjoy, foreigners!

Scotland = for some reason best known to themselves -‘Yes, sir! I can boogie’ by Baccarat. Great song. Ireland - ‘Sweet Caroline’, although the English have pinched that now. • For reference (or at least what I can work out), countries the England fans were in in this video include: Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, South Africa, and Brazil (?). The zoomed clip where the national anthem is played was from a game at the 2016 European Championships in France and it is estimated 500,000 England fans travelled over for the tournament. Likewise, at the 2006 World Cup in Germany (I think the last video about the bombers, please correct me if I’m wrong someone) it was estimated over 100,000 fans travelled there too. Wherever England go, the people follow.

  • That video is England fans . They come from all over the Country . In England alcohol is tightly controlled and the Police have a lot of powers to control matches , other Countries don't . Club games the atmosphere can be even better . With both sets of fans (segregated nowadays) coming up with chants , mostly generic but a lot of spontaneous ones directed at the opposition . It's not always the premiership that has the best fans .
