    • @@gideon7932 Not really "single-handedly". The Illinois Classic this year had all one handers in the final 5. Full one hand step ladder. In fact, the top 9 in standings for that tourney were one handers. We still have many great one hand bowlers.

    • @@JimFourOneTwoThree If Bill wins it and EJ flames out then maybe because that would get O'Neil pretty clear in the earnings race. All other metrics though it is EJ. He is pacing Belmonte in a lot of the all time metrics (remember he is nearly a decade younger). If he stays healthy he is easily top 3 all time. 40 titles and 10+ majors well within range.

  • Love seeing the one hander with reactive winning. EJ is my favorite. I don’t hate urethane or two hands, but as an old school bowler and from Indiana, I love to see EJ win! Let’s go!

    • I think this was less about one handed or two handed and more about the lefties simply messing up each other's lines lol especially the two handed urethane throwers. That's always going to be their downfall. That and the unwillingness to at least try to switch to reactive.

Russo didn't have a strong enough ball to cut through it, EJ could put enough hand on it to make it work. Otherwise he would have been balling up to a Jackal Ghost

    • He had already won by that point. He just threw random balls down in celebration, like he does when he needs 2 pins to win and he just fires his spare ball at the head pin. I would definitely not qualify this as a "missed spare" by any more. It was just a victory lap and he didn't feel the need to run real fast.

  • I bowled with EJ at the Dayton open. This was probably in the 2013-2014 timeframe. I don’t think he had made it to the tour yet, but the guy bled Motiv. He would talk about them in between shots. Little did I know that kid would turn into this guy. Small world. Gotta say. One of the nicest people. Crazy to see where he is 10 years later.

  • Actually enjoyed watching the lefties struggle from the high usage of urethane. They did themselves zero favors today. Great bowling all week to all!

    • Yep, usually it's the righties who have to deal with all the oil being pushed down by the urethane balls. Tonight both Jasper and Matt had to deal with all that pushed down oil, and even with balls as great as theirs, those 7 pins stood up way too often.

  • Knowing angles and having that much power makes him almost unbeatable when he’s dialed in. EJ will be right there with Belmo, Earl, and PDW when it’s all said and done

    • They had to deal with carry-down because there were 4 of them on the broadcast. Lefties have no clue how to bowl with traffic on their side of the lane and it really showed today.

    • Russo had a bad line to the pocket. I was pretty much predicting the 7 pins. It got a little better after the ball change on the left lane.

  • Started bowling no thumb one handed earlier this year but since watching ej Tackett I switched to traditional one hand with the thumb. Isn’t easy but I like the challenge! Congrats ej!

  • EJ Tackett truly a freak of nature with a monstrous release. Also, Jesper's game was so sad and frustrating to watch.. Those breaks were unforgiving towards southpaw 2 handers today. Only Eric got something out of it, but wasn't enough to stop a dialled in EJ.

  • Matt Russo is an up and comer and has a bright future ahead of him. EJ is a generational Great who will go down in the annals of the PBA as one of its brightest stars, and he's in the middle of his prime. It would have taken a fantastic effort from Russo to keep this trophy out of EJ's hands.

  • If you think Jesper not striking is as Rob Stone says "bad breaks", it's not. It's bad ball choice and bad ball motion. Execution was fine, shouldn't have been in that 78U.

    • For me, the only leave you can reasonably claim is a “bad break” is a solid 8 (9 for lefties), since a lot of the time that’s due to a bad rack. And even so, you can make an adjustment to avoid it if you leave it. So yeah, 100% agree with you here. Hate when people talk about bad breaks and luck.

    • Yep watch the flat 7 hits, the ball deflects off the headpin pretty bad. The urethane balls tend to do that, and almost like carrying the 7 is luck vs leaving it being bad luck.

    • @@sonofnothing the lefties usually have the look with urethane for much longer, but with 4 of them on the pair they saw the urethane transition that's normally seen on the right. After a game or two, you gotta be aware of getting out of it. You would think the ball reps would know, but who am I to judge 🤷🏻

    • Bad ball choice, bad motion, bad ball. The IQ core is fantastic, but it does not match up to urethane at all, it's too much core without any asymmetry to help it lay down, and it just dumps all of its energy at your feet

  • I don’t understand the ball choice by Russo or Svensson… ball choice was clearly the problem not finishing through the pins, they all finished toward the 8 pin not the 9 like they should have.

    • Svensson’s carry was brutally bad. Absolute garbage. Was making me laugh in disbelief. Hopefully with that, the bowling gods give him exceptional carry before long. They owe him big time.

    • It isn't a joke. If you look at the ball motion and how the ball enters the pocket. The ball wanted to going but it just wasn't going well, and things turned out the way they were. I just don't get it. Urethane does a good one game, but it goes away quick.
