The Story of Call of Duty: Black Ops [1945 - 2025]

Hello, and welcome to a video telling the story of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Due to the nature of Black Ops 3, and the fact that it has little to do with the story of BO1, BO2, and BO:Cold War, I'll be covering the story from BO3 in a different video. So THIS video will cover the time period of 1945 - 2025!

  • Something that slipped through the edit, I mention that the Soviet Union fell in 1996, when it actually collapsed in 1991… (typo in script). Read a few comments and I WILL be doing a video on the Modern Warfare Reboot, and MAYBE Zombies (but that will be coming in the future). But I’m having a week off after the two mammoth projects, Gears of War and this video!

Its like why mafia 3 did well with its shooting, it felt weighty and like each bullet really just hit that guy, if they made a mafia 3/waw shooter with the story of BO1 tho, masterpiece

    • WAW is a different level for some reason. I believe it's because it's set in actual history. Whereas BO1 and especially BO2 is semi realistic. Sure spec opps were a thing, but not to the degree that the games show. WAW is set in battles that we can actually learn about, hence sympathize with. Such as Stalingrad, Berlin, Okinawa and Peleliu, so we can research or at least sympathize with what the soldiers went through. Whereas in BO1 and 2, we can't.

      @ethanedwards422@ethanedwards4223 ай бұрын
    • @@ethanedwards422, I mean, both Black Ops 1 and 2 are set during actual wars and battles as well. In Black Ops 1 we got the Bay of Pigs Incident and the Battles of Khe Sanh and Hue during the Vietnam War. In Black Ops 2, we got the Angolan Civil War, the Russo-Afghani War, and Operation: Just Cause. So I wouldn't say they're not set in actual history as well. There's just some... creative liberties taken when telling the story.

Notice how Adler was quick to put out his cigarette as well as there being a jar of jelly beans on the table in front of Reagan. This is because he was quitting smoking at the time.

  • I always think about the same thing when going over the black ops 1 story line. Its that mason is crazy but also a one man army badass. The guy basically escapes out of russia by him self after vorkuta. Fights through multiple vietcong divisons throughout Vietnam itself. Also the most impressive feat of fighting/sneaking through rebirth island by himself to make it to steiner. Yes mason has gone crazy this point and thinks reznov is with him but he still by himself did all these things. Mason is crazy but also just a straight up super solider and I think its something everyone shoulder consider when thinking about the Call of Duty Series. In my opinion the only others who are even semi on the same level are soap and price. I always love videos about the early treyarch series because they usually harp on this fact like this one does.

    @charaizard7765@charaizard77653 ай бұрын
    • What bothers me more is that in the new MW trilogy, technology is also far less advanced and there is no mention of anything that could lead to BO2, despite these games being set only a few years before 2025. MW2019 is acceptable, since it was made before they decided to connect the 2 timelines via Warzone, but putting references to BO2 in MW2 and MW3 would go a long way in reinforcing the idea that they take place in the same universe.

  • I really hate that both Woods and Kravchenko survives a bandolier of grenades. If woods have fallen behind some crates sure, but Kravchenko should’ve died. Then also why no one including mason didn’t investigate the explosion after was the biggest damper of BO2 and something I couldn’t suspend. It was cool that Woods said “you can’t kill” after rescuing him though. Also I refuse to accept Cold War as a canonical continuation to Black Ops. It may be put in its own separate universe but it shall never be in the Black Ops proper universe.

  • COD black ops was like a freaking Hollywood blockbuster when it came out. All those A list actors like Sam worthington, Gary Oldman and ed Harris. It’s uncertain if we are ever going to have another video game with this kind of weight ever again

  • CRAZY!! to this very day me and my friends are still joking about "THE NUMBERS, MASON! WHAT DO THEY MEAN??" when we're confused by random numbers in games or trying to calculate stuff in-game. I never even knew anything about "sleeper agents" until I saw your Outlast lore video, but now it all makes sense about what happened in black ops! Thanks for making this, hoping to see more!

  • Im glad Treyarch sticks to not rebooting the blackops franchise with "another universe" stuff as Modern Warfare did. It allows the characters and their roles in the series to be consistent to what has been established in fan favorite games.

  • loved the video! i was wondering if you have thought of covering the penumbra series? ive seen all your amnesia videos and recently played penumbra. i think the game and story are pretty interesting! i dont recommend fanmade necrologue though, the writing sucks.
