Super power insect! frog's enemy, Epomis Beetle.

2019 ж. 17 Там.

Epomis Beetle, enemy of frog! Frog tracker, amphibian hunter.
The best defense is an attack.
For insects, frogs are scary predators.
Epomis Beetle became a frog hunter as a strategy to avoid frog attacks. I saw a lot of Epomis Beetles hunt frogs.

  • When I was younger, I was in a forest and saw a dead frog on the ground. I rarely see frogs so I stopped and got closer to look what was going on. Right when I was looking, two of these bugs crawled out of the frog (propably a hole in the stomach), climbed on the frog and made love. Right there. On the dead frog which they probably have killed and partially eaten. I will never forget this. Nature is a freak.

A lot of animals use tools, however it doesn't mean that they'll become super beings overnight. They are adapted to their environment, they are what they are and do what they do because it's what keep them alive. Even those dumb beetles that you see flying and waltzing around can fend off for themselves, they don' need anyone else to keep themselves alive. Now, I'm not saying that you are not prepared or dumb, but if you were to be dropped into a jungle, like the Amazon jungle, you wouldn't last 2 days there. It doesn't matter how smart you think you are, you are not adapted to survive there, even the dumbest beetle can outlast you there. Life is not about being smart or dumb. It's about being adapted to your environment.

  • Most of the comments are about the suffering the frog experiences while being eaten alive, you must not think of it this way. Pain is perceived emotionally by humans, but not most animals. A human processes 1000s of scenarios, regrets, fears and so on while being in peril, the frog brain doesn't have the capacity to do so, majority of its actions are instinctual and the sheer time it needs to process even simplest tasks takes up all of its brain power. This is why the frog appears to calmly sit there while being eaten, note that the Beatle has no paralyzing agents and is only able to cut through frogs muscles paralyzing just the back legs. Anyways, frog definitely feels pain, but higher functions such as fear for its life, or existence are absent thus it experiences no agony, fear or suffering, at least not anywhere remotely near what some of the higher brain functioning animals, or humans would.

But watching this I find myself thinking about how unfair life can be, makes me wonder if there is even anything after death since as we all know, life is unfair. Maybe what happens after death is unfair too and there is no afterlife, maybe it's a total contrast to the unfair life we lived on earth, maybe we just get reincarnated into something else, maybe we're taken to a new universe.

I found a kitten that would have been no more than a week or two old. It was absolutely covered in meat ants. I remember picking it up and brushing the ants off. There were the heads of the ants with the mandibles still stuck on the kitten’s flesh as I had brushed the ants off it. It probably would have died a really horrible death if I hadn’t had been there. I gave the kitten to my friend and I never saw it again. Hope it found a forever home and had a happy life.
