    • @@blackbriarwolf5766not exactly something you have control of as a child getting literally raped. It is not until you hit your teens to late teens that you can consciously start choosing which way you want your brain to grow. When you are 25, your frontal lobe is done. Your neurons solidify. And it is extremely hard to change your brain patterns after that. You can no longer want to be super man one day and the NBA star the next. So saying it’s not hard is condescending af and quite literally lacks empathy in your sentence Lmfao which is ironic. Someone with real genuine empathy would understand “it’s not hard” is a garbage explanation.

  • This is why CONSENT and child abuse education in school is vital. These predators feed off shame. The irony that they feel no shame about the evil they commit, yet their innocent victims feel nothing but guilt, pain, shame. That mother has no excuse. None. This beautiful woman has been abused and never wants another soul to suffer a tenth of what she went through.

    @lwkatz428@lwkatz4284 ай бұрын
    • I don't like the label "vital in school", making it sound like highschools need a 5 year course on consent and abuse. It can be easily covered in a single sex Ed class.

    • @@debaterofeverythingpresent2775 there is a need to be teaching kids things about consent and their bodies at every age - for example research has shown that teaching young children the medical/formal terms for different private parts reduces the risk that they will be preyed upon because they don't have any issues reporting troubling behavior from adults in their lives. Then for those in middle school, obviously it's not appropriate to give a full sex education course but they should be introduced to important ideas about bodily autonomy, people needing consent to touch them, etc. unfortunately any age and any situation (even a doctor or teacher) might be the moment a child needs some skills to understand how to respond to abuse. I think this is more of what the original comment meant

You can teach kids no means no and to respect boundaries without brining explicit sexual themes where they do not belong . • It’s sadly common for pillars in communities to take advantage of their status & charisma/persuasiveness in order to do insidious things. More examples: School coaches, Boy Scout leaders, etc. A lot of daycares also have abuse unfortunately, you’d think having one means they love children but no. A lot of people (not saying you) think sex trafficking minors is some stranger that snatches a kid up, and while that can happen, the vast majority is the child’s own family and community. 😖

  • She's incredible. The fact that she left the military - the first place that elevated her self worth and was clearly good for her, because something she saw there no longer aligned with her principles is commendable. She's so articulate and such a brilliant story teller. But what comes across most of all is her humanity. She's the sort of person that restores your faith in our kind. Someone who's seen the entire spectrum of humanity, the bad end more than the good, and yet she chooses to keep moving forward. To stay hopeful, and open, and kind. I'm a British African woman from Kent and I would like to say this on behalf of all humany: Thank you Victoria. You are loved. Every version of you matters, and is worthy. I'm sorry you were let down by so many people, but the way you dug yourself up from the shit over and over again, and continue to do, is the most heroic thing ever. I'm so incredibly proud of you. • Early introduction of sexuality and sexual situations is called covert child sexual abuse. It happens ALL the time and is horrifyingly being championed all across the US and most of the western world under the guise of "trans kids." A 4 or 6 or 8 year old doesn't even understand the concept, yet it is being forced on them and they are openly exposed to adult sexuality and sexual situations, without their consent. I'm not political and that's not where I'm coming from at all on this, but it is the same thing, being normalized and made acceptable. These children are going to grow up and realize that they have been the victims of sexual abuse and they are going to have to deal with that, except by that tike, this will viewed as acceptable childhood experiences and the help they need won't be there. It will be like child sexual abuse was treated in the 50s or 60s, as a family issue and not something for health services to deal with. All that advocating and fighting and struggling, and it was all for nothing. I hope that stories like hers and mine and others will open people's eyes to the reality that stealing children's innocence comes in many forms, but leaves the same trail of devastated children.
