  • Love that he didn't let the interviewer get away with the standard narrative 👏

    @CristinaDavalos1127@CristinaDavalos11276 ай бұрын
    • Yes, Chomsky, like usual, pushes the narrative that Western powers are evil and they're the reason there is no peace over there. This interview is a joke. This idea that there was an "international consensus" that the USA blocked and the media suppressed is nonsense. And even if there were, Israel is under no obligation to abide by that, just because Chomsky claims most Americans supported it, which is also a joke. According to international law, the Israelis are under no obligation to give the Palestinians anything. But the fact is that they have offered them land on several occasions. This after they, the Palestinians rejected the initial UN offer that would have given them more land than the Israelis. It is the Palestinians who chose war every time.

  • Almost every journalist who is trying to get into any polemics with Chomsky is compromising himself badly. Chomsky's nearly encyclopedic knowledge about modern history, politics and international relations, and the amount of facts that he is always ready to display are just astounding.

    • @@johnhurtado440 As far as I know, as an academic he got paid in a field related to the theory of language not politics. He educated himself about history and politics since his teenage years, simply because he was interested in it, without thinking then about getting any money for this. Besides: what's wrong with getting paid for sharing the vast knowledge you have on a given subject? Regarding activism: he is now over 90 years old, his voice is very frail - he is simply unable to do any serious social activism, especially in a places so far away from US.

There always is a 50/50 chance a person is simply fabricating the story (ask yourself, if this man made this up, how would you know?). At the end of the interview Evan Solomon said "You know for years I’ve spoken/debated and disagreed with Noam Chomsky, but when I read his new book “Hegemony or Survival: America’s Quest for Global Dominance” - I have to say I was overwhelmingly convinced. He synthesizes, documents using a range of credible sources, a very credible argument that America is embarking on a reckless and dangerous imperial mission. You know the best books make us feel uncomfortable about the things we disagree with. This book does just that. “Hegemony or Survival: America’s Quest for Global Domination” is published by Metropolitan books -it’s part of a six-part project called the American Empire series. I would highly recommend this book, it does what good books always do-it provokes."

    • How interesting - he mentions nothing about the fact that most of the time when civilians are killed (Palestinian civilians) that they’re often used as human shields by Hamas and other terrorist organizations. He doesn’t at all mention the fact that Israel is entirely surrounded by Arabs who generally consider Jews as people and religion as infidels - which is ultimately a suicidal hatred of Jews. He fails to mention that there is a difference between what would happen of Palestinians had control over Jews vs Jews over Palestinians. The fact is true that if Jews were subordinated they would ultimately be murdered or would live under slavery (actual subjugation). None of this absolves all war crimes but acting like Israel is this evil monster is fucking ridiculous. So much bullshit comes out of this intelligent man it’s incredible.

    • Let me just add a little more of what recently happened - a gang of Hamas thugs killed more than 1200 civilians as direct targets (including children toddlers and babies were fucking beheaded). I dare you to find any directly coordinated act of anti human violence that is ordered and directed at Palestinians as a people. So far nothing comes close. Most of the time when there are casualties it’s because amas purposely choose schools and hospitals to fire their rockets from. This causes more deaths of civilians. They use human shields. If you think israelies should then be more careful (maybe, depends what you mean) I think you’re generally full of shit. If Palestinians had a nuclear weapon they would have used it.

However, it is false to even assume that the the Palestinian authority (or even most Arab countries) fund Hamas mainly for one reason: Hamas has a whole different ideology within the political spectrum of the Middle East. The Baathist Arab states (mainly secular Social nationalists) oppose the Islamist forces (Whether they be Hamas, and Hezbollah). The gulf states wouldn't even think of funding Hamas. Saudi Arabia detained many people who they accused of funding and supporting Hamas. The Saudi Arabian Government and much of their gulf companions open up to Israel by the day while their dissent of Hamas also rises. It isn't right to group the whole middle East under one category of a political domain wen the truth is that they are heavily divided, sadly. While Israel grows as a military occupation with funding and support from some of the most economically powerful and military heavy states from the west, Arab states remain divided and even some already succumbed to the US and their agenda in the middle East.

    • Chomsky has never been right about anything in his life ever. He literally misinterprets everything. Chomsky's brain is dysfunctional. Laissez-faire government and Laissez-faire economics are counterintuitive ideas. Laffer Curve, peace through strength, and building a strong state on strong individuals given individual liberty and expecting individual responsibility, are counterintuitive ideas. Conservative ideas are counterintuitive. Liberalism is not an ideology. A left leaning bias is caused by mental and emotional instability that makes a person unable to still their mind long enough to understand how the counterintuitive nature of the universe works so a person falls back on their emotions to reach a conclusion. That is why there are no successful liberal political talk radio shows. Liberals need moving pictures or hand puppets to trigger their emotions. There was a huge global study where they asked thousands of people hundreds of questions and grouped them by their answers. People that ranked high in conscientiousness also favored conservative policies. People that ranked low in conscientiousness also favored liberal policies. Meaning liberals have no intention of doing what is right or making sacrifices for the good of society. Liberals are twice as likely as conservatives to report having mental problems in some groups and report higher mental problems across the board. This mental instability and inability to still their mind long enough to understand how conservative policies help poor and working class people is the cause of their problem. If you look up the traits of narcissists, you will see they are exactly the same as liberal politicians and activists, because they are both driven in total by their hatred and emotions.

      @practicaliching2311@practicaliching23116 ай бұрын
    • Investigations consistently find that people who identify with liberal ideology are significantly more likely than others to be depressed, anxious, and to rank high on neuroticism. Liberals are also much more likely than conservatives to be diagnosed with mental illnesses or disorders. Liberals are roughly twice as likely as conservatives to report being diagnosed with a mental illness. Liberals Are Far More Likely to be Depressed, Anxious, or Otherwise Neurotic Compared to Conservatives. Liberals are significantly more likely to experience adverse mental and emotional conditions. People who score highly on “Dark Triad” characteristics (narcissism, psychopathy, Machivallianism) may be especially likely to gravitate towards certain strains of “social justice” ideology. Likewise with many inclined towards authoritarianism. Conclusion: The well-being gap between liberals and conservatives is one of the most robust patterns in social science research. It is not a product of things that happened over the last decade or so; it goes back as far as the available data reach. The differences manifest across age, gender, race, religion, and other dimensions. They are not merely present in the United States, but in most other studied countries as well. Some strains of liberal ideology likely exacerbate (and even incentivize) anxiety, depression, and other forms of unhealthy thinking. The increased power and prevalence of these ideological frameworks post-2011 may have contributed to the dramatic and asymmetrical rise in mental distress among liberals over the past decade. People who are unwell may be especially attracted to liberal politics over conservatism for a variety of reasons, and this may exacerbate observed ideological gaps net of other factors This article is an American Affairs online exclusive, published March 21, 2023. • The most often repeated finding in psychology is that a left leaning bias is a symptom of mental instability. Repeated across decades and in studies all around the world. "Undoubtedly the two most consistently found relationships are the positive effect of conscientiousness on right-wing voting and the positive effect of openness to experience on left-wing voting. Conscientious individuals are theorised to be more conservative because they take greater heed of social norms, valuing order and accomplishments that are socially proscribed. Open-minded individuals are more accepting of unconventional social behavior and unorthodox economic policies that are generally associated with the left. "There has been reasonably consistent evidence that a third trait, emotional instability, often called neuroticism, increases one’s chance of left-wing views." • What precisely do you mean by 'unbiased'? Are you referring to Chomsky's Jewish origins? I'm not aware that he has any faith, unless one ventures to call secular humanism or socialism 'secular religions'. Self-centred as people are, they sometimes describe as 'unbiased' whatever point of view happens to agree with their own. Do you find that also? I do not believe that any of us are capable of overcoming 'bias' entirely. Only God is all-knowing and impartially just. Of course some people deny that He exists, but either they are in denial or have undergone some kind of brainwashing.

    • Yes. This man always have my admiration for his knowledge and unmatchable critical thinking. But he has my utmost respect for residing beside the truth on the matter of Israeli occupation of Palestine

    • (John 3:16) 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.' Actually it JESUS Who is the way and the Truth and the life. See John 14:6. Also Reason is an inadequate and imperfect means of attaining Truth. Faith and Revelation., correctly understood, are also indispensable.

    • Even though this is something I would want to believe for the sake of feeling like my information is the right information, I simply don't know. There always is a 50/50 chance a person is simply fabricating the story (ask yourself, if this man made this up, how would you know?). Even then there is a chance they make mistakes in their judgement, they may be truthfull, however their knowledge may be faulty. Judging such a difficult subject like this is incredibly hard. Please take care on judging people and be critical in reading comments like mine. Don't trust my word, read up and make sure I am wrong. I know I am copy-pasting this, typing out such a long comment again and again would be a big hassle, I just want people to question. If I am wrong, I'd love to hear why. Don't hesitate to enlighten me :D.
