Converted a plastic model of the Constellation to wood. Cut very thin pieces of boxwood and superglued them to the hull. Have to say it came out better than I expected. Used the plastic masts as a template as I did with the decks. The only plastic parts I kept were canons barrels and the aft captains quarters. I displayed it as a half-wall mounted model. I used the other half as a template to scratch build a complete model too.
Very nice tutorial. I am doing the same thing with vehicles and other planes. A lot more work than kits, but the detailed plans teach you a lot.
where can i download design templates please. tom print and paste them on wood to cut them
You could try the internet but I bought a paper kit, very cheap and used that. Try Shipyard models.
