I love that Death was more pissed that Puss didn't value any of his lives than Puss just escaping death in general.
That is the best part of it all for me. He is slightly annoyed at cats getting 9 lives, but the fact that Puss has gone through 8 so far and not care about them while most people only have one and value it sets him off.
Puss would be a real legend if he didn’t waste his lives so easily the mf is skilled asf yet dies because his dumbass thought that trying to launch himself with a cannon was a good idea or eating shellfish when he knows he’s allergic to it
@@keybladeduelistalso the fact that people who had 1 live and die or early without fullfilling their life makes it more sense why death himself pissed so much about puss not valuing any of his past 8lives.

I love how near the end of Death's speech, most everyone went silent. Shows how much of an impact he has as a character, we the audience are at the edge of our seat wondering what this guy wants.....and when he delivers...absolute respect. Great villain, easily the best dreamworks villain we've had in a very long time.

I love how they have him say "not metaphorically or rhetorically, or poetically or theoretically" since... if they *didn't* say that there would still be people that wouldn't get it... like sure many probably understood earlier but when spelled out you are like "good won't have to argue with others about this later"
Works for the character too as if he's heard people question him before. He even does a little eye roll.
Good bit of subtle characterization of Death in the writing here. He may be the end-bringer for all, but he values life itself. It's why he's so upset that Puss wasted 8/9 of his time in this world. I like to think Death is actually really chill, but putting on an act to scare Puss straight lol.

when Death said "FEAR" like that, he made me think of Scar from The Lion King because he said that word almost the same way
The VA's performance in general is very Scar-like, I love it

@@EllielPerez_131.in the context of this story as we view it from Puss’s perspective he would be a villain or antagonist. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Death is morally evil, just that he acts as an opposing force to the hero. Ultimately Death wants to teach Puss a lesson for slighting him or kill him in the attempt and once that lesson is learned he ceases being a villain/antagonist. A villain is one that is at odds with the hero/main character-they could be evil or sometimes they could just be doing their job, but being evil isn’t required.
The hints the movie drops make all the more sense when after the reveal.

I wacth this movie to My mom and My dad on HBO max and it was so amazing and a Masterpiece i well wacth again again and again, for me puse in boots 2: the last wish is one of the Best Dreamworks animation movie ever Made is a Masterpiece.

The reason why puss n boots knew immediately that death wasnt a bounty hunter was because of his heritage. In hispanic/latin heritage we are told of death/ the afterlife. To have it be manifested in a movie for all of us to aee is a great represent of how the latin community sees death.. we find it To be a beautiful but anxious thought within our lives.

I feel like there need to be a distinction between a villain and antagonist. Cause jack was the villain of the movie. Death was antagonizing force, he was an obstacle to puss but he wasnt the villian of the movie

I actually like to consider that despite Death saying he’s “straight up”. He actually isn’t. And is but a figment of Puss’ imagination. Think about it. The first time we see death is in the corner while he fights the giant, that pretty much signifies that Puss fears death, and through his frivolous antics he pushes the thought of it into the corner of his mind. The next time we see him is after the doctor puts focus on that Puss is on his last life. The doctor makes Puss aware of death. And while extremely drunk on the heaviest of cream, Puss hallucinates death. This scares him so much Puss starts seeing death in random crowds. And no one else can. Then we enter the wish dimension that can conjure up any environment and knows the map holders heart. And it also wants to teach a lesson. As it has conjured the bears’ abode to show Goldilocks that she already has what she wants to wish for. So, considering this, the star can totally conjure up Puss’ worst fear, aka death in the flesh. And the first time we see death acknowledged by others is when they’re standing on the wishing star. Therefore, in my mind death was Puss’ hallucination, and a conjugation by the wishing star. Rather than an actual character in Sherkverse.

@@electromagneticpsychopath4973 Because it doesn’t make sense for such an entity to exist. Or did time stop for Fairy Godmother to have a conversation with death before she evaporated? And I prefer my idea because it can more accurately portray severe ptsd. This is just my opinion/interpretation, btw. Art can have many interpretations.
