Riding his first Paris-Roubaix at the age of 31, European champion Sonny Colbrelli of Bahrain Victorious rode to glory on the André-Pétrieux velodrome as he outsprinted his two breakaway companions, Florian Vermeersch and Mathieu van der Poel, two other debutants in the Hell of the North. The race was marked by wet and muddy conditions and the solo breakaway of another Italian, Gianni Moscon, who looked like having his grip on the race but was victim of a puncture and a crash in the money time.

@@2011hwalker We have this proverb in my country : "An expert needs just few words to understand something he knows". Colbrelli did not retire for doping but for another health treatment that a lot of people got that year and is still causing damage to the health of many.

In 2021 I got to witness why they call this Monument "The HELL Of The North". It wasnt just Cpolbrelli and his team mates and his race director but fans of Bahrain and many others that shed tears with him. What a RACE
The " hell of the north " comes from the aftermath of ww1 in Northern France not the cobbles or conditions.......it goes through the somme and many others places it was a waste land when the race started after ww1 " the hell of the north " parts of France and Belgium would have have been hell before and after it

I first started watching Cycling in 1987 they year Ireland went cycling mad over Stephen Roche extraordinary year but this Paris Roubaix in all my years watching the sport is the best bike race ive ever seen it was literally gladiatorial in its sheer brutality and constant drama
