Fieldsports Britain - the wonderful .22-250 calibre

2021 ж. 1 Мау.

If Paul Childerley had to take one calibre to a desert island for the rest of his life, it would be the .22-250. In Scotland, you can use it to shoot everything from rabbits to roe deer, and that's what he does, showing the versatility of this round. Meanwhile, Tom Davies is in Devon helping out on his dad's fishing lakes. The self-confessed thermal spotter addict tries out the latest Pulsar Accolade 2 to see if it can find fish. Find out in this week's show. And news editor Ben O'Rourke is investigating how animal rights extremists who have jobs in the financial industry are using company 'terms & conditions' to exclude our community from the economy, It might be a financial 'hate crime' but it's becoming increasingly popular, because the extremists get away with it. David brings you the latest news on the News Stump, and Charlie has the best hunting and shooting videos from KZhead in Hunting KZhead. It's all in this week's #FieldsportsBritain

  • hello from the USA. I don’t get to hunt much with disability and health issues. but that’s ok . i knew it would happen and in my 50 years of hunting/fishing I could really write a book about my blessings in the woods and on the water. 22-250 is my all time deer rifle. taking deer from close range to 300 yards . many 100-160 pounds range. several 180- 200 pounds. some 225-250 pounds..I reload serria 63 gr psp and Winchester 64 gr psp at 3450 FPS with imr 4895 powder .. of course many crows , wood chucks/ ground hogs have met there end with this rifle. I have many weapons but my all time favorites are my 303 British rifles, and outher military rifles. wonderful show and professional in every way. good day to you. nana and papa aka the hunter from the foothills of the blue ridge mountains in the state of North Carolina in the USA .

  • Most relatable episode ever. The love of the 22/250, love of fly fishing and of course the pita of opening bank accounts. Feel your pain having raised funding for a gambling company and the pains associated with opening a bank account in the uK. Plenty of other ways to raise funding without those cowards at cc and seedrs.

  • Excellent show tonight. The ground where Paul shot his bunnies looks an awful lot like the ground I last ran in a spaniel trial, adjacent to St. Fergus. Cracking bit of ground, loads of bunnies. I am still bemused that FSC's 300k subscribers haven't all joined the Fieldsports Nation. What's the worst thing that could happen to you? Next and last trialling pup to be named.... could I get away with Fieldsports Charlie?

  • Can anyone explain why you can see reflections on water when using a thermal or your reflection in glass? I nearly crapped myself the first time I seen someone looking back at me late one night from the back of an empty shed before I realised it was my own reflection in a window which I hadn't thought possible until then.

  • I would say the 6XC is perfect for lamping foxes, roe bucks, muntjacs, sika and fallow, redstag will also work. 22-250 is a bit light when its windy and long distances with factory twist 50-55 grain bullets.

  • 22-250 is rare in US. Out west, for small mammals (hare, prairie dog), we prefer .17HRM, unless it's windy then we switch to .223 (which is an overkill). In the East, .22LR is good enough for small stuff.

    • Depends what part of the sport you partake in. Grouse shooting yes will be expensive, the beating element not expensive. Clay pigeon shooting can be as expensive or as cheap as you can make it. Air rifle shooting again as expensive or as cheap as you can make it. Going out with people who run ferrets or falcons fairly cheap compared to someone who owns them. There are many strings to the bow of field sports.
