It's such a simple but beautiful thing. It gives me hope that when they cover more real life topics like diverse families or queer characters, they'll do a good job with it.
It's really meaningful because a lot of parents don't realize how much pressure they even sometimes unintentionally put on their children to have children. Grandchildren should never be treated as an expectation because it's ultimately your children's lives to live.

@maryssaflynn3208 I agree! We shouldn't teach it as if it is a duty! We should explain that it can be a gift to raise a life of your own, but ultimately, you can only know if you feel you are ready to raise children. Parents give their children the tools to grow as responsible and good adults and POTENTIAL parent!
At this point we need a spin-off of Bluey and her friends as teenagers navigating life and high school. That’d be cool.

Things I personally love about this episode: 1) Chilli saying it's up to Bluey whether she wants to have kids or not. 2) Bandit's speech to the "baby" because of how it applies to people who are born or develop a chronic illness or disability early in life.

I still think it HAS to be Jean Luc only because Mackenzie is a girl in other versions of the show (in different countries). They (1.) wouldn’t (probably) let Bluey marry a girl especially in different countries and (2.) even if they did, two biological girls can’t have a biological puppy together. I still hold out for Jean Luc. I haven’t watch the episode yet though…
As sweet and Bluey and Luke are, I think it’s McKenzie, not only because of the “oohh BLUEY will marry McKenzie” but also the ears and how they fold, along with a darker purple/black tone on the Puppys face

I think the kid looks a lot like McKenzie as well but I love that the show doesn't reveal the father and leaves it a mystery so the fans can decide who they think is the dad based on who they personally like best. It's good to have a little bit of mystery sometimes in a story. Honestly, it may actually be someone we haven't met yet. Bluey is 6, most girls don't meet their husbands at 6 years old.
She's 7 but she should be older by now Why is socks the only character aloud to age in the show? Show started when she was 1 now she's 3(???) And how old is muffin? How old is everyone???

@@PrincessAcornHair Bingo had her birthday episode in handstand so she is 5. Muffin and Bluey had their birthdays in Pass the Parcel, so 4 and 7 respectively. We can assume Socks should be 2, going to 3, based on the fact everyone had aged up a year from season 1 to season 3 with Socks stated age to be 1 during season 1. Bingo in season 1, Muffin and Bluey in season 3. So in total the age of the heeler kids at the end of season 3. Bluey:7 Bingo:5 Muffin:4 Socks:2-3

Honestly Mackenzie being the father makes much more sense as I can totally see Bluey and Mackenzie ending up together especially since they were kids together. My head canon is that after school Bluey and Mackenzie went their separate ways (as sadly most friendships do). But years later as adults they come back and return to their hometown and meet each other and decide to go on a catch up date just to see how each other are doing. And from there it just builds up until eventually they fall in love get married and have the kid.

also something I didn’t catch until a second watch, in the digital photos at the end you can see Bingo with what appears to be Easter Island heads? In the background, it makes me think Bingo might’ve became an archeologist like her dad which is incredibly sweet

While Bluey’s friendships with both Jean-Luc and Makenzie are cute, personally I kind of prefer the idea that the dad is someone we don’t know. I mean, most people who get married meet their partners later than 6 years old, and yes I know cartoons don’t have to be realistic, but also I just like that Bluey has a full life ahead of the series. She’ll meet new people and form new connections. The world is not divided into people who already love her and people who never will. Er, dogs.
I'd say Mackenzie. But I like to think Jean Luc is that cool uncle that pops up every now and then for special occasions.

Just watched Surprise! I personally jump to Jean Luc as the dad, given my bias with Camping being my favorite Bluey episode, but Mckenzie does work and has more build up in the show.😅 Notice how the toy gun & armor covers the kid's left leg, left arm, and chest so we can't see the full character design. If a single one of those have features like Mckenzie, it's done. I also noticed the digital frame at the door, such great pictures!
It definitely looks more like Mackenzie over Jean Luc...but personally I think it'd be more interesting if it was someone who hasn't been introduced, like someone she met in college or something of the like.

@@IsThisJd Not necessary all the time. my maternal grand-parents were neighbors when they were little kids and they ended up dating as teenagers, getting married and end up having 3 kids. I didn't met my boyfriends until my mid 20s, this scenario is different for everyone.

@@cynthiag5191 It also could very easily be that case too. Like Bluey and Mackenzie do go their separate ways but then reunite in their adult lives and decide to have a catch up date. And while hanging out they reminiscence about their childhood together and eventually realize they do have feelings for each and start dating and eventually get engaged.
i definitely think they're mackenzie's kid- they look a lot like toddler mackenzie in the space flashback which i thought was a big clue to who their dad is. I also definitely agree with the theory that the pups mum is bluey, because of the scene at the door with bandit that you mentioned!
Yeah I saw some people online saying it could be bingos, but the episode set it up to parallel Bluey and Bluey was the one asking about having kids so I have no doubt that it’s blueys

I'm leaning towards Jean Luc because of the coloring of the pup and because he was in the flash forward episode showing that he clearly goes back to Australia. I can also clearly see the links and the high probability of McKenzie being the dad too though so this is a tough ons
i think that child is BINGO's puppy. -Bluey arrived and neither Chili/Bandit seemed to ask or expect a child with Bluey - kinda weird, no? -Bluey just gonna leave her child outside when she enters the house? -Bingo also was playing a game involving babysitting earlier in episode -Bingo is already at the house in the backyard -we've seen children in this show have the COLOR of one parent, and the PATTERN of another parent - matches up with BINGO + DAD -Bandit seems surprised, but not floored about the toy being powered up i think this is fairly obvious, and Mak0line is just a distraction. thoughts?

The child was going to surprise Bandit and Chilli . The child is a girl. The child’s name is Bluebelle
no the timeline is different. bluey walks into the house and multiple things change and then bandit lets the child in. that point is invalid, but some of the other ones are possibilities.
@@Asherlarasocool ??? Not sure what point you are trying to make here. The Timeline with Bingo absolutely makes sense. She's stated to be in the backyard so the idea her puppy makes its way from the back to front yard in the timeframe shown is fine. Honestly no idea whose puppy it is - dont think it matters - it was just a super sweet moment. Somewhere down the track we will no doubt find out more info.

Another theory I saw is that it's not Bluey's child at all but Bingo's. Neither Chilli nor Bandit seemed to be expecting a grandkid to accompany Bluey. And Bingo was already in the backyard. As we see in their Family blue and red heelers both exist so it wouldn't be unheard of if Bingo had a blue baby. Or another theory... maybe Bluey adopted? And she was coming home to "surprise" her parents? (I still think its Bluey × McKenzie though)
That theory doesn’t really mix well with Bluey’s takeaway from Bandit though. It doesn’t make any sense thematically for Bingo’s daughter to do exactly what Bluey did all those years ago even though Bingo never knew about that side of the plot. Plus, do we really think Bluey wouldn’t leave out the detail of her kid coming over just to prank her dad? Come on.
Well, grandma chili clearly did not show she was expecting anyone else aside from Bluey. It was clear Bluey had not visited the home ("The house looks great") in quite some time. I'm thinking it's Bingo's child as well since she was the one with three kids earlier in the episode and Bandit was "taking care of them".
My personal take is that the kid looks a lot like Stripe, coloring and then folded ear. The creators definitely left it up to interpretation.
Honestly I think Mackenzie is the father bc of the spot pattern and if you mix Bluey’s blue with white it gets that kinda grey-ish blue color
I think it’s Mackenzie’s child. The purplish colour is probably from the mixture of black and blue, or just showing that specific shade of “blue heelers” that runs in blueys family. (Eg Nana, Stripe, and socks), plus the ear looks much like Mackenzies

The main reason I think it’s McKenzie is because McKenzie knows Bluey and has known Bluey for longer. Sure, Jean Luc could have gotten to know Bluey even more after they had met again, but McKenzie just fits it more.

Throwing this out there as a differing opinion.... How do we specifically know that pup is bluey's kid? It doesn't say so in the episode. We're drawing that conclusion based on Bluey asking at the beginning of the episode IF she will have kids in the future. But her mom specifically points out that is completely up to her. And the conclusion also ignores how throughout the episode it's Bingo that is playing the motherly game with having kids while Bluey is content to play her space game and doesn't want to join the game Bingo is doing. She only has that toy for a limited time and wants to enjoy it, much as more and more of the younger generation is choosing to enjoy their young adult years while they can before jumping into parent life. Sure at the end she joins the game, but as "sister" not "mother", she gives me cool aunt vibes. Another thing to point out is that when Bluey arrives she say she just decided to stop by and doesn't mention the child being with her at all. Meanwhile as she and Chili move off camera her mom tells her that Bingo is already out back. And the kid is already geared up with the toy in mid-game which suggests to me that Bandit could have been in the middle of playing with BINGO'S child when Bluey showed up. I personally think the kid is Bingo's, but I wouldn't say it's impossible that they're Bluey's, just more clues point to it not being Bluey's and Bluey at this time is either childless or has yet decided to have children.

I think it’s technically both and neither of the boys. LET ME EXPLAIN!! We know that things rarely stay the same within the Bluey universe. We can never get a clear layout of the Heeler home and there was the whole infant development issue with younger Socks vs. Baby Bluey. So for this episode, I think The Toddler was designed with features from Bluey AND Mackenzie AND Jean-Luc. If this future timeline is ever revisited in the show-and a real decision on the Toddler’s paternity is made by the production crew-we’ll end up seeing their design change slightly. If Mackenzie is the father then their design will be less purple and more blue, black and white. If Jean-Luc ends up being the father then the design would be changed to be less fluffy and have more blue/purple and not black in it. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk

As much as I agree with your conclusion, I feel the need to acknowledge that the episode also leaves the possibility that it's actually Bingo's kid. Bingo is said to be in the backyard at the end, and the game she played earlier in the episode involved her having children. I definitely think that Joe Brumm intended for us to believe that it's Bluey and Mackenzie's kid, but it's possible that this was intentionally misleading us from the truth. It could be like how Grandpa Bob was implied to be deceased, but then it turned out that he was just in India for an extended period of time. (admittedly, that one may have just been a retcon, though)

That would make more sense when you consider that the kid wasn't standing next to Bluey. If it was Bluey's kid, I find it kinda weird that you'd just leave them outside like that. But the idea of Bingo's kid sneaking up to the door makes more sense.
I didn't feel like Grandpa Bob was ever intended to be deceased, but I agree that it might have been intended to look like Mackenzie and Bluey's child but could be a red herring

Honestly it could be Bandit & Chili's 3rd child. I dont think it matters really at this point they have done it in such a way that they gave usu another potential glimpse of what seems a very happy future for the characters. At some point they will probably tie these threads together in a way that makes sense. For instance do the Heelers end up having a closer connection to Rusty than they do now - Cricket indicates that to be the case but not how. I guess ... We'll See.
I hope it's Makenzie I loved him the moment he first was on screen. He's a sweet boy who genuinely cares and wants to help. I loved the Creek and him helping Bluey with her fears. Also, I find it interesting that the figure toy set with Mackenzie has is Barkey Boats. We know that boys can show spoilers so yah, I think their episodes are more important than we realize yet. Also I really want a few grown up Bluey episodes when the time comes. Like before it ends forever give us a couple, Joe.
I think it’s McKenzie because the pup just looks like because he has a toddler. He’s here he just does. It really doesn’t look like John Luke they’re probably just really close friends.
I think it is Mackenzie because in the live feed for ABC kids they played barkyboats immediately afterwards. So I think it was a subtle way of saying it is bluey and Mackenzie's son/daughter

The part we’re bandit was talking to the toy child about how we care about you more then anything else and bluey was listening in to such a sweet moment made me tear up 🥹 and the reason why was because that is what family is all about ❤
Before Bluey ever existed (so thankful it does), I had a wonderful boy Blue Heeler/ Border Collie mix for 14 years. He was so smart and good. Best friend I ever had. His name was Blue :) He had one ear up and one down. Had the heeler body and hair, but the black and white colorations of his collie momma. So I really think this is McKenzies baby. And I love it ❤ I miss you Blue! Your still my beat buddy ever.

If they're anything like their real life dog breeds, given how intelligent and high energy both heelers and border collies are, I can only imagine a mixed breed puppy of the two would be an absolute whirlwind.
I didn't even think about why ABC would play Barky Boats right after Surprise until I saw your video on this, Margie, and now it makes a whole lotta sense.
I am team Jean-Luc. I think him being the dad would be so sweet. Because Bluey instantly got along with him despite the language barrier at first. She was super sad when he left the campsite. And the way they met in the episode Camping is very similar to how Chili and Bandit met. On vacation. They saw each other for a brief amount of time (albeit Bandit only saw Chili for like 5 seconds) and then reunited later. Bluey and Jean-Luc's story is just too sweet for him to not be her future husband. Which is why, I believe they are going fo leave usbin the dark like this. They will let us speculate and have our own head-canons. At least until they can more properly sell the true husband. Because as of now, MacKenzie and Bluey would be sweet too. There just isn't enough sweetness for me, personally to call him the one Bluey will end up with.

I love Bluey's adult look with the little mullet and I like how she's a little taller than Chilli😅. Not to mention I really enjoyed that line where Bluey asked if she was going to have kids and Chilli said maybe. Its a small thing but it makes such a difference. It can be incredibly frustrating when you get older and you family is incapable of understanding you probably don't want kids.
Am i the only one who thinks the child belongs to Bingo? If Chili and Bandit had not seen Bluey in a while (Bluey: "the house looks great"), would it make sense for them to not even bring up their grandchild by said daughter ? Also, Bandit reacted viscerally to hearing the toy power up...almost like he was off screen being assailed by said toy by the child concurrent to Bluey ringing the doorbell. Thematically, Bingo being the mother makes more sense because she was the one playing mommy earlier in the episode. Bandit was "caring for Bingo's kids" earlier in the episode. The looks of the child don't matter because look how closely Bingo resembles aunt Brandy.

Personally, I think it’s mackenzies kid, but I honestly was hoping if they did do a scene with bluey’s kid, it would have been with someone she met as an adult/teenager, because shipping kids is kinda….weird

It kinda is. But thanks to animated shows, now we have ships with kids and when they are grown up they fall in love ( like Phineas and Ferb or Kim Possible).

I've only recently started watching this show, but I'm happy for Bluey. Also that real life picture of the puppy in the end was adorable, thanks for adding it.
It could be Mackenzie, Jean Luc, or someone we don't know. We meet different people and make connections throughout our lives, maybe Bluey met someone later on, fell in love, and had a pup
Honestly I am Team Mackenzie on this. For one: Mackenzie is a boy friend we see Bluey interact pretty often besides Snickers plus the curry swap between Bandit and Mackenzie's dad and them driving by Bluey's house when they sports teams had their match seemed to indicate that their families are rather close leading to them probably spending a good amount of time with each other. So I think it makes the most sense for these two to grow closer as the years go on and eventually go out later on

I suspect Mackenzie, but part of the reason why I liked the idea of Jean Luc is it would of been a fun relfection of how Bandit and Healer firat met. During a vacation at a place both of their familes liked to visit.

I also have to say that the blue/lavender on the puppy is also the exact color of Bluey's dark spots, so we can't say with any confidence that the color is a match with Jean Luc. All of Puppy's colors are found in Bluey's family palette so it's very ambiguous. She could very well just be a single mom as well and gone through IVF who knows. Though I myself lean towards Mackenzie.

It is totally MACKENZIE because MACKENZIE has 1 bent ear, and toddler has it too. Also, blue, black, and white together makes a purplish color.
I think it's Mackenzie and Bluey's child. The pup just looks too much like little Mackenzie with fur coloring that's more similar to Blueys. And plus Barky Boats and some other episodes from the show have lots of small hints to the two liking each other. I do love Bluey x Jean Luc but it's perfectly alright with me if that's not the direction the creator wants their main character to go, the puppy still super adorble and i know Bluey's a great Mum in the future. (I really love your Bandit and Chilli hoodie by the way)
I honestly don't think it's any of the kids we currently know. The blues on this kid's coat are very similar to Nana's, Stripe, and Socks. Not only that but only the tip of the ear is folded just like Stripe's and not folded over more like a lab's ear or MacKenzie's ear. Sometimes kids will heavily resemble distant relatives more than their direct parentage. I think they chose this to keep it ambiguous and who knows if we'll ever get a reveal so that's why they did it.
Why I hope Jean Luc is the father: 1. Jean Luc's coat is most similar to the pup's colouring. 2. Bluey and Mackenzie have expressed that they don't have crushes on each other. 3. In the Russian dub, Mackenzie is a girl. Therefore, Mackenzie, being the father wouldn't be possible in every dub of 'Bluey'. 4. Jean Luc and Bluey definitely reunite as adults.
I like to call them “heeled collies” because it sounds like “*healed* Collies.” And I think it sounds nice.

It’s Bingo’s, she was already there and that baby was already on the hunt for grandpa. Bingo must have told the pup about her aunt’s game. Think about it, when Bluey arrived as a surprise, neither parent ask about a grandchild. I don’t think Bluey would keep the child a secret for what looks to be 3-4yrs. It’s Bingo’s and Mackenzie if not a new character we have yet to meet.
I think it is Mackenzie and I’m using my animal knowledge for this one. But judging by the mix of coloration and even searching up heeler/collie mixes. It’s definitely Mackenzie for it to be Jean-luc it would have to be more smooth coat less patterns. Mackenzie, YOU ARE THE FATHER!

I have a crazy theory, @aussiegirlmargie! In the episode Camping, Bluey and Jean Luke meet again as teenagers. Maybe they date but it doesn’t work out. But here’s the kicker: how do she and Mackenzie reunite post high school? In the episode Bin Night, Doreen tells Bluey she thinks Bluey will be a scientist. And in the episode Space, what is Mackenzie: THE CHIEF SCIENTIST!! I think Mackenzie and Bluey are coworkers in the future and they fall in love!

I always liked the idea of bluey and jean-luc. Because they mirror bandit and chilli at the caravan park. But also cos I'm not a fan of "childhood friends who have always known eachother, grow up to be together". Bluey and jean-luc have spent enough time apart to not feel "forced" to me. But I will say the baby does look more like Mackenzie 😭😭

The thing I noticed is the picture at the end where you can see an upgraded family photo of Bluey and Bingo as they are older in the picture with their parents. You can also tell that she has no child at all because they didn't show any in the photo. So the thing is I can see where McKenzie is the dad but the ton of the child looks almost like how Muffin is. Now he could be the dad but he also has a lower probability of being the dad as well. Most childhood friends don't end up as couples that have kids they may date but they don't get married as often. McKenzie and Bluey are way too different and you can tell that Bluey lives further away from her parents as they seem surprised she has shown up. If she was with McKenzie it would be less of a surprise as she would've probably seen them more. Now Jean we don't know much about him. Yet they are in a way connected. You can see in the episode they show him where they got really close. They even have a tree they planted together and not only did they both remember the spot they both met each other again. You can even see that he progressed in learning English to be able to communicate better with her as all he knew was french. The difference between the two guys is that Bluey can be herself around Jean as he listens to her and respects her opinions. While McKenzie just doesn't do that. In the episode Shops he wants to hurry the game as Bluey keeps changing things. Instead of working something out first he gets upset at her. Lucky for them Rusty was the game changer. Yet I want to point out one thing. What if that is just a neighbor kid? We never seen the kid get out of the car with Bluey. They also never asked her about a child. If she was with McKenzie they would've mentioned him. So if this is Bluey kid then how do we know if she had the child or just adopted the child.

I hope they don't confirm it either way because I feel like doing defeats the purpose of the episode. The point is that Bluey has a kid in the future, not who she'll have said kid with.

I honestly hope it's Mackenzie. Jean Luc was literally seen in one episode so we don't know much about him. But we know more about Mackenzie then Jean Luc. Yeah, Mackenzie isn't in ALL the episodes. But Mackenzie has definitely been in more episodes in Bluey. Just my opinion though! 🧡💙🧡💙

Ok so I headcanon Bluey and Jean luc as teens/young adults deciding to date and later marry and having atleast one pup being the one we saw in the new episode! I know not very many agree but I still love this headcanon

The purple tones can also be explained by blueys darker tones being a dark purpleish color. Bluey's darkest tones actually arent all that different from Jean Luc's color.
I just like how the father’s left ambiguous since it gives possibilities for both. But I feel like it could most likely be Mackenzie, but it could also be good if it could possibly be both, though I doubt it would happen, since that stuff (with polyamory) seems to be illegal in Australia from what I’ve heard.

@@Angninjin22 I mean, a child can only really have 2 parents. Obviously there's surrogacy and IVF but a single child can only really have 2 biological people that they're made from. Sure there's situations where a woman has sex with 2 different men and ends up having twins with 2 different fathers but that's rare. And this kid probably only has Bluey and one other parent; I don't think it's a polyamory thing, as cool as that would be.

ANYWAYS I'MA GIVE MY THEORY CUZ YAH- It may be possible to Jean Luc, but personally a lot of people think Mackenzie. In "Barky Boats", when Calypso said "Okay kids something very special is happening today!" Winton shouted, "OOH! Blueys gonna marry Mackenzie!" Obviously, Bluey and Mackenzie say no, because their kids. In also "Barky Boats", Bluey and Mackenzie act like they hate each other, but Bluey runs up to Mackenzie and says "Cya Mackenzie!" and after Mackenzie says "Cya Bluey!" and Bluey runs away, Mackenzie keeps looking at her before he gets back to playing with his buddy. In "The Sign", after Bluey says "I'm moving away... and I'm never gonna see any of you guys again..." Mackenzie kinda pushes Honey out of the way and runs up to Bluey first, and Mackenzie hugs Bluey from the back a little. Also, yes, it may be Bingo's child, but if it was, why does the child not have the same colors as Bingo? The child has the same colors of Bluey. "Indigo blue, blue and bright yellow". The other colors of the child is Mackenzies colors. Also, the child has a folded ear which is similar to Mackenzie, the other features the child has that Mackenzie has is - fluffy tail, fluffy cheeks, and a folded ear which everybody pointed out. The child has a mixed smile of Bluey and Mackenzie. and for Jean Luc, he may be the "fun uncle" or "fun godfather" like Bluey has a godmother/aunty which is Frisky and Chili was friends with Frisky in the teenage life. Also, in the school episodes where Bluey was in class, Mackenzie was kinda looking at her sometime. Dang this theory i made is long asf
that character design for the puppy is obviously mixed to mess with our heads, I'm sure eventually they're going to be all like "huh, you guys thought that you knew who the father was? well, WRONG" and introduce a background character that has nothing to do with childhood bluey🗿
