B-17 Bomber Sound for Sleeping : 2 Hour Long Prop Airplane Audio

2013 ж. 3 Нау.
4 740 521 Рет қаралды

This experimental recording simulates the sound of a propeller driven airplane. It could be any large prop airplane but we picked the sound of an old B-17 flying fortress WWII bomber to simulate. This is an experimental sleep and relaxation background sound / video brought to you by www.virtualdreamer.com. Please note: there are no bomb explosion sound effects. Jump to minute 20 to listen to a more pleasant droning sound.

  • I had the privilege of taking a wonderful flight on the B-17 `"Aluminum Overcast" just last year. One of the things that really struck me during the flight was just how quiet it was inside the fuselage. I really expected it to be this just crazy loud, rough ride, and it was the exact opposite. The weather was wonderful, the pilots and crew were superb and the entire flight was fantastic, from the beginning to the all-too-soon end. Honestly, I've flown commercial flights that SHOULD have been that smooth. I can't wait to fly with them again!

I too was amazed at how quiet the ride was, and the beautiful hum of the engines. My friend flew later on the B24 "Witchcraft" and he said THAT was definitely way nosier and more of an assault on the eardrums :D

    • I have heard many complaints that the b-25 is very loud in the cockpit with the propellers and r-2600s so near. I guess that even with four engines that extra space and a few hundred less horspower engine, the noise isn't as loud.

He made it home to start a family, but he died when I was four, so I don't have any concrete memories of him. Thinking of flying miles high above the country side at night. Only the moon and stars to show us the way, the gentle movement of the plane over atop clouds. The distant rolling hills below, high up in a "nest" no one can bother you.

  • Since I was an adolescent my favourite history topic was World War Two. I was a war junkie and I liked anything and everything about wars. One of the first original computer games I bought with my savings was "B17 Flying Fortress" by the now defunct Microprose. I enjoyed being in a make belief B17 bomber and flying sorties over wartime Germany, it gave me lots of meaning being a tail gunner and shooting down Luftwaffe fighter planes and jets. As I age, I started to suffer from insomnia, and one of the most amusing ways to coax me into sleepiness turns out to be the B17 bomber's engine sound. This video on KZhead tries to recreate the droning sounds of the B17 plane flying in midair. A good two hour clip, it has the ability to calm nerves down and bring about some stoic numbness into the mind.

    @rongxianglin3528@rongxianglin35283 жыл бұрын
  • I think the key to why this is so sleep-inducing for me is that it makes such great use of my subwoofer. The drone gets into the floorboards of the house and you feel the sound as well as hear it. Very few sleep videos seem to have this unique quality. Alas, I also think that's why I wake up as soon as it ends - ha ha.,

  • To everyone who cannot fall asleep without ambient noise. Try building a dampened room for yourself. Silence is the best ambience. However tiny sounds outside of silence will become very loud. So it must be done well. This is why sleeping in a car with good seals is comfy. Cause it dampens all the outside sounds. My point in this is that sound still stimulates your brain. So that's part of your brain that doesnt get to rest.

  • When I was 17, I fought in a war. One of these making a nose dive really made a person pray. Had to stay in formation with the rest of the squad. It's something because every pilot up there tried to use the other B 17s as shields against enemy fire. The main problem is that these planes are too big and bulky to manuever. The positive is it could take a lot of machine gun fire as long as it didn't hit something important or hit a pal of yours due to it's bulk. Could have been made a little bit smaller but wasn't to be. Nose dive if the enemy was at you could stall but that plane doing a nose dive helped with escaping. Only guy that got hurt was Enzon the machine Gunner. Never will forget him screaming and seeing his one hand smoking like melted off. His clothes had to be literally cut off with the boys using knives. We we're just kids and didn't know that we could die since we were invincible at that age. Got a taste that day. Those Germans wouldn't give up no matter what you see on TV they

Also love the visuals as it looks nice and cozy in the cock-pit with the reassuring lites on the instrument panels and all is well into the nites. I say I shall ask the stewerdess on this old bomber for a blanket,pillow and hot chocolate and hopefully catch some zzz'z. Drat,I wish this war would be over.
