Can you answer this one, you pay for your electric ,power comes down brown or red and goes back in blue or brown ? so if you have paid once can't you re tap on neutral and have your electric again ?
That's not how electricity works. If you tapped your neutral it wouldn't be neutral it would be live.

The easiest way to get into the game is to get some skills under your belt on your own - general skills, how to cut stuff, how to drill and plug properly, how to fix backboxes, how to clip up cable properly. THEN, get a CSCS card. I was on an apprenticeship, being mugged off on minimum wage, already had the skills so was being made to basically do what the sparks were doing. Obviously i still have to ask questions due to the lack of experience, but the whole 'you need to do an apprenticeship' thing is bunk - employers just see you as cheap labour and often you don't learn much directly it's just through trial and error and observation. I left my apprenticeship in Feb because my employer was refusing to pay me for college. I'm now a mate pulling £17.50 an hour. There's too many older learners out there looking for apprenticeships. I did it for years instead of using my existing skills to get out there and start earning straight away. Get a CSCS/ECS card, an IPAF licence, your 18th edition, and some tools and get out there as a mate. Lie on your CV if you need to.
Are you working in domestic dwellings as an electricians mate or is it more commercial/industrial? I ask not to be nosey but to figure out if I’m doing the right thing by working for my current employer. I’ve got my 18th edition and ECS card just not the IPAF. Basically working for minimum wage right now but I must admit my employer is teaching along the way more so than the previous employers did but cant figure out really if I’m doing the right thing by trading my hourly pay for experience right now.
@@ErenPlaysNsh1t Both domestic and site work. If you have the ability to do first and second fixing without much help you are being taken advantage of if you're on anything less than about £14 an hour. Bear in mind even in the North East where wages are the lowest in the country, agency 'improvers' are on £16 an hour. In Feb i was on an apprenticeship bringing in £9 an hour, no fuel allowance, no tool allowance, having to pay for all my own training. I moved to another job for £10/hr and £6/day fuel, then to another for £15/hr plus £15/day fuel and now i'm on £17.50/hr plus all training is free plus tools all paid for by the company, and now they're looking at giving me a van and fuel card too. Bare in mind i'm unqualified - i only have a CSCS card, i don't even have the IPAF or ECS because i refused to pay for them and my boss wouldn't pay for them. The more people refuse to work for peanuts the better this industry will get. There's a small gaggle of big businesses taking the piss out of the workers by raking in the big contracts but paying the lads less than £20 an hour. It's 2022, sparks should be on at least £200 a day as a minimum. I know lads who were on £350 in 1997 ffs. If you want better pay you never ever get raises at work, you move laterally to another business instead. It always results in higher pay than if you'd stayed and asked for more. I had no UK electrical experience when i started in September last year except for adding sockets onto existing circuits and stuff like that. I had zero experience of commercial installs. 7 months later i've doubled my pay and my prospects by refusing to have the piss taken out of me and moving on as soon as a better opportunity comes along. You owe your employer nothing. If they won't look after you, someone else will. Imo the best roadmap is the following: Learn how to do rings and radials. Learn how one, two way, and intermediate lighting works. Learn how spurs work. Learn how to clip stuff, distances, regs, etc. Learn how to do containment. Learn how to design safe circuitry ie know what breakers can go with which cable ratings etc. Then get a good CV together with a picture on it and get yourself out there. Once you prove willing on site you'll make loads of contacts and that will lead to more potential work.
