Lyrics:
God, bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfought
It can't be outdone
It can't be outmatched
It can't be outrun, no!
God, bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfought
It can't be outdone
It can't be outmatched
It can't be outrun, no!
And when I close my eyes tonight
To symphonies of blinding light
God, bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
Oh, like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky
God, save us everyone
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
For the sins of our hand
The sins of our tongue
The sins of our fathers
The sins of our young, no!
God, save us everyone
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
For the sins of our hand
The sins of our tongue
The sins of our fathers
The sins of our young, no!
And when I close my eyes tonight
To symphonies of blinding light!
God, save us everyone
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
Oh, like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky
Oh, like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go
Lift me up, let me go-
And it can't be outfought
It can't be outdone
It can't be outmatched
It can't be outrun, no!
God, bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfought
It can't be outdone
It can't be outmatched
It can't be outrun, no!
God, bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfought
It can't be outdone
It can't be outmatched
It can't be outrun

  • This album, especially this track, was so ahead of its time. It was so experimental and had beautiful and poetic lyrics, deep themes, different and atmospheric instrumentals. This band really wanted to put out something new. Personally I've always loved it, but it has always been so underrated

    @pierfrancescopoccianti5780@pierfrancescopoccianti57805 жыл бұрын
    • I agree. I got into them in 4th grade, a year before this album was released. Wasn't allowed on KZhead as a kid so I used Pandora for all my music. Hybrid Theory and Meteora were my favorites. When this came out I did not like it at all. 7 years later i started to really appreciate it. Too ahead of its time is a total understatement. Though could also be argued it fit the growing electronic music scene in the early 2010s, but we won't talk about that 😉

  • This is why I love Linkin Park. Poetic song with deep philosophical implications and also social criticism. The way they arrange their thoughts in form of music is simply amazing. The choice of words could not be better, and the instruments and voice are simply perfect. All these elements translate their reasoning and feelings in a brilliant way. They make us feel exactly what they were feeling. This song is a masterpiece.

    • No, he did not *die like a legend.* We buried 13 people in 6 months in 2021, and less than half of those were from Covid. Half of the non Covid deaths were from suicide. Hangings and guns to the head. That is not a legendary fucking way of dying. Not when your *children* find you or stand the risk of finding you. That is a horrible, tragic method of death, and not even remotely legendary *in the slightest.*

    • Hugely relevant, with the current war against Covid, the bombing in Lebanon, and all the riots that have been happening in every country like in the US, this album speaks enormous volumes to its concept and ideas. Huge art indeed. I seriously can't believe that they were under scrutiny for this album back in 2010

    • @@Merdicano Couldn't agree more. This shows that although we make technological advances, we still have much improvement needed for humanity and understanding. I believe "The Messenger" is an extremely powerful conclusion to this album. Perhaps symbolizing that love and understanding is the answer to overcoming all this destruction, violence, and hate. This album did not deserve the negativity and scrutinizing it received and still to this day deserves more recognition and praise.

    • @@BlackStripedPrism Exactly, couldn't have said it better my friend. And on top of that, Linkin Park's music should deserve more praise than it deserves, like, I've checked on its reception, and it always have seemed like the critics are the most that put them under criticism. Several critics I read that I absolutely disagree with. And yes, "A Thousand Suns" deserve more attention than it deserves

      @Merdicano@Merdicano3 жыл бұрын
    • @@Merdicano You are absolutely right. For a single band to put out so many albums that each have their own unique sound, but still can be detected as the same artist is a phenomenal feat. So many artists attempt to style after LP, but you can always tell an authentic LP song even in their demos. Critics just don't appreciate true artistry. Instead, they prefer repetitive "pop" music with no originality and zero lyrical content. LP were always ahead of the game. Even their "Pop" album was better and more original than what is mainstream today. It is quite refreshing to see so many true fans of art who appreciate real music, like yourself.

      @BlackStripedPrism@BlackStripedPrism3 жыл бұрын
    • @@BlackStripedPrism Oh, thanks dude. I truly appreciate your kind words. Although I do like pop music, only certain artists though, but I definitely love rock in the best way. I'd say there's still good music out there, we just have to find it for ourselves. And yes, it is a truly impressive feat keeping their style, and being a band that was ahead of their game. I think that whatever road Linkin Park decides to take post-Chester, we should be open to see what that road may lead, and we can openly like or dislike, but without forgetting how meaningful their music is. Same thing with Mike's solo work which is amazing as well.

  • This song is supposed to be about World War 2. Especially in Japan. 'Two symphonies of blinding light' being Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the gas in the music video signifying radiation. Sins of our fathers etc. is speaking of how children and women got hurt in the american bombing of Japan.
