Great advice. The fact your speech is easy to understand on 1.75x playback speed also helps me use my time well :-)
Great Advice by you
I am glad you are able to speed it up and it still be clear.
3 years from 10 pm to 2 am I can't even find the words to describe how difficult it is, as usual great tutorial from one of my favorite tutors
It was tough, and I definitely wanted to quit, but I made it through.
I really like how honest you are especially at level of experience.
Truly, I love your philosophical sense of reasoning things out and as a matter of fact its helps me so incredibly. You just described me in this video, just that I am also still struggling with so much and I am yet to also have a degree which I am really interested in. I work pretty hard on a daily basis and can hardly meet up with bills, however, I am still very much optimistic about my desire with much hope that it will get better over time if I maintained consistency in my daily routine. Like you said, truly its not an easy nut to crack. Thank you so much Mr. Tim, I appreciate this.
Thanks for looking to Tim for your help.
Thanks, Tim! Awesome as always! I have been using a similar technique and found out, that it became a habit. Sometimes we have no energy because of complex things or uncertain events, but don't need to get upset, this is just normal when you do less than planned.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Tim I have not been able to catch many of your videos over the past 6 month's, New job, Dev team dropping like fly's and then Lock down, I Just had some down time and found this one in my to watch list, I plan block's of Dev time, but things move, and I felt that I was missing something, I found this talk very good and I am planning on going a little easier on myself, I can let some things drop, and I don't have to feel bad. Many Thanks, keep up the good work.
I am glad it was so helpful.
It was awesome to hear about your journey of working full time and going to school. I'm about to enter that season myself and it always helps hearing about other who have been able to get it done.
Good luck!!
beautiful tips....especially to apply during this WFH period where one thinks they got 'endless time' to manage. Thank you.
You are welcome.
Thank you for more solid advice! Intentional is definitely key.
You are welcome.
When I heard this, I felt that you were talking to me directly, because you are really putting points on the letters and specifying the commas and the end of the sentenceز Thanks dear Tim
You are welcome.
You had two boys, a wife and a full time job and decided to go to school to get a degree… That’s literary exactly what I’m going through now (but 2 daughters). The sacrifice is difficult but I know it’s going to pay off. If I continue at my current pace I’ll have my engineering bachelors in 1.5 years. Thanks for the extra motivation !
Excellent!
Great advice, thank you very much.

Great advice. Thanks a lot
Glad it was helpful!
Very practical advice thank you

I know C# really well and I also keep myself up-to-date with latest C# buzz, but I still am less productive than my peers. So it was a much needed advice. Thank you.
You are welcome.
Great video as always, I am constantly suggesting your channel to others interested in C#/.Net development. I don't know if you've covered it yet but one thing I would like to hear about is tips on jumping from technology to technology. I just started my career as a developer a little over a year ago and I love my job. One of the hardest things for me has been jumping between tickets. I'll be busy for a few weeks messing the MS SQL Server problems, then I'll have to jump into any number of things including web forms (C# and VB), .Net MVC applications, Laravel MVC (PHP), etc. I spend a lot of time trying to learn things and follow along but by the time I get to a spot where I can apply them I've forgotten most of what I went over a month or so ago. It doesn't help that I want to use ..Net Core instead of .Net Framework.
I've covered trying to stay in one technology until you conquer it before moving on but I haven't covered how to switch when you are required to. I will add it to the list.
Definitively. A wise man said, Time is a matter of priorities and priorities are a matter of preferences. You prioritize what you prefer to do. Good advices Tim!
Thanks!
That’s a great video Tim
Thanks!
Great video, thanks.
You are welcome.
Nice advice, KAIZEN aka small improvements steadily over a period of time brings an accumulation of benefits. I also use the Pomodoro too, really works.
Thanks for sharing!
Hey Tim! you make such encouraging and informative videos all the time which always are worth watching. There are also some questions in my mind which I think need to be addressed to me as well as general public. Can you please tell me how can I ask the questions?
Leaving a comment here works, or you can us the "Ask Your Question" button on the podcast page: iamtimcorey.com/p/podcast
Thank You.

Good Advice. What i struggle with when learning something new is ‘when to stop, you know _enough_.’
Practice it. When you understand how to put it into code because you have done it a few times, move on to the next topic. Then come back to it to put it in a larger project with a few more topics you have learned.
Yes! Pomodoro technique is great! Apple Watch is perfect for it or just telling your voice assistant.
Yes indeed!
"Intentional Time" - this is the title of your new book! Great (obvious when said out loud) comment re time management.
Excellent title.
We, together with my friends, were waiting for this video to come out! I wrote down some useful tips and hope these help me and my friends develop. Thank you Mr.Corey!
Great!
thank you.
You're welcome
Hi Team, great video as always. Can you also speak someday about .Net certifications path for a beginner ?
I will add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hey Tim, great talk today i really enjoyed the topics you covered today I look forward to reading the book recommendations Keep up the great content! -Codeup student quasar cohort!
I am glad you enjoyed it.
Wow, I will try
Great!
Very good.
Thanks!
Best mentor of .Net. Here is my question. Does age matters in development? and if yes then what should developers do after reaching a certain age?
I will add that to the list. The short answer is yes, but not in the way you think. Age provides wisdom that can be really great for a developer, whether they are just getting started at an older age or have been doing it for years.
I wanted to thank you for being so generous and responding to comments please question ive just finished basics of c# and i saw (just looked) at many of your videos but i didnt know where do i start ? whats the first thing i have to learn to be able to make desktop apps .and Thanks Again!!
Winform is a great start for desktop application after that learn wpf
@@dyakobaram Thanks ♥ i appreciate it
I have a video that walks you down the path of learning C# (whether you want to be a desktop developer or a web developer): kzhead.info/sun/f7mvYpSJr4qgma8/bejne.html
Sir ..very nice video ..please needed a .net core MVC series c# .. unity framework as well if possible ..just want to say a bug thank you for your efforts😃
I will add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
When someone asks me what's the difference between junior, semi-senior and senior one of the points I mention is time managing. Seniors (usually) know their priorities, that important it is. I use the pomodoro technique too. A friend introduced to me a Spanish-language programmer's Twitch channel where he would program for some time, then stop and spend some time chatting about stuff. Any programmer willing to share bursts with him can clock in in the chat and start getting points for sharing time lapses. It's kind of an idle RPG. I don't use it but he tells me it's working for him. Since it's in Spanish it won't be of much help here but people interested in it will probably find similar channels during their hour works.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video...I'm doing my first internship and it's a nightmare because I get distracted every minute which make my work even less enjoyable
You got this! Just be intentional about your time and you will see a big difference.
Hi Tim, could you make video about creation web service's which using soap and rest protocols? It might be really intresting for everyone, thx.
I will add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@IAmTimCorey thank you
Which Microsoft certifications are good for leaning C# as well as good for C# professionals? How to become a Microsoft MVP?
I will add them to the list. Thanks for the suggestions.
Nice to know how to manage our time but, it's hard to spend a lot of time developing without a nap, can you tell us how much time spend you for diner, develop, learning something and sleep in terms of hours please?
It depends on the person. For me, I try to sleep 8 hours a night now. That is a luxury I haven’t always had. I typically go to bed at 1am and get up by 10am (that’s 9 hours but that includes my evening wind down and waking up slowly). I don’t nap (they make me miserable). I skip breakfast but have lunch at 1 or so, supper at 6, and sometimes a late night snack. I work until 5pm, do work around the house after that, spend time with my family in the evening and go back to work at 9:30 or 10pm.
Hi Tim, can I share this video on my Facebook account? Thank you
Yes you can. Just don't download it and share it as your own. Link to the KZhead video to share it.
Time management would be 10000x easier if it wasn't for family not respecting your time. What do you advise, Tim?
It depends on who the "family" is that isn't respecting your time. If it is your parents, start by honoring their time. Put them first. Then, share about what you are trying to accomplish and ask them if they can help you make that goal. If it is your young kids, pick times when they are asleep if possible. If it is your somewhat older kids (8+ years old probably), partner with them. Reward them for helping you. If they don't interrupt you for 30 minutes (give them a visual like a specific light that is on, etc.), give them some video game time (or give them game time during your study time). If it is your teenagers, lay out boundaries. Be clear on the actions and the consequences. If they don't respect your time, they have to make it up to you in extra work (chores). If it is your partner, treat them as an equal. Lay out the vision for what this time can do for the both of you and then plan equal time for your partner to have to themselves.
If i learn C# good, will it be easy to learn others language in the past ?
Learning one language well can be helpful in understanding others. More importantly, the logic you learn to use in building applications will apply to any language.
There is something wrong with the voice or the video in general! I'm not really sure what that is. Anyway thanks for the advice 👍
Still working on the audio side of things.
How we can create live charts and connect it with database
I will add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@IAmTimCorey Thank you
Hello sir, the information that I get from your video is like Diamond. But the videos are too lengthy.
Thanks for the feedback. Tim believes in giving context for what he is teaching and that takes time. His goal is not entertainment or just to dump code on you but true education. Still, many folks like you have recommended watching the videos at 1.25 or 1.5 speed in the settings. Thanks for growing your skills with Tim!
makes more sense if you watch at 4.37 am
LOL - I get it.
*Oh the irony.* I'm sitting here watching a fellow developer explain time management in more or less the same way in which I work anyway.
Great!
First like, first view, first comment.
You're a role model for all of us.
It's 2020. wtf? is this still a thing? is there a reward?
@@RalfsBalodis I'm old.
Thanks for helping the video do well.
Tim, could you make a vid on how you control your breaths in these videos? I noticed that i've never noticed your breathing during a video - and i'm trying to explain to this guy kzhead.info/sun/lamfcsp6iKNteH0/bejne.html that his breaths and cuts in the middle of them are a bit more distracting than most other youtube vids I watch. I'm also asking for my own youtube vids.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm still working on my audio setup (I have a ways to go). Scott is doing about the best he can probably with his setup. He is using a lapel mic. My guess is that the audio cleanup routine could be tweaked a bit. That takes practice and trial and error to get right. I use a shotgun mic for my live videos and a dynamic mic for my screen capture videos (I'm going to switch to all shotgun mic once I get it figured out). Audio takes a lot of work to get right and every mic and situation is different. Personally, I have a big room with wood floors so I have a lot of echo to deal with (sound reflections). The farther my mouth is from the mic, the worse it gets. Scott has a lapel mic so there is a similar issue with distance but he is in a "softer" room so it will come out as a different sound. The processing of the audio file is another big place you can have issues. Depending on how it sounds in the raw recording, there may be a lot of work to do. If there is, it is easy to get it wrong and make your sound worse (clipped, muddy, etc.) If I had to guess about Scott's sound issue (and it isn't bad), I would say he probably has the gain too high on his lapel mic, which is causing a peaking of the sound. I would guess there is something in the processing that is making too much of a change as well. As for the breathing, that is something that is REALLY hard to fix. That isn't a mic issue, mostly. It is a breath control issue. The lapel mic does make it a bit worse because it is closer, but a shotgun mic doesn't solve the issue. It is just a bit more forgiving. * Note that I am far from being an audio technician. In fact, I'm trying to hire an audio technician to come to my house and set up my studio since I am not able to get the sound I want from my equipment. I am just sharing what little I know.
We all have errors to work on :)
So true.
gotta solve 'em, hopefully this wont generate new errors on the top of them
It's sad to see your avatar change overtime, I remember when it used to have hair on it, and it slowly lost more and more hair. It literally mimicked you in real life. 😂
Eh, I’m good with it. I don’t really miss my hair.
