  • I have a special relationship with nyckelharpa thanks to my old classmate Åsa Jinder, who was made an official Swedish national player of nyckelharpa at the amazing age of 14... Her father also was one of the renowned builders of the instrument (Curt Einar Jinder, if I recall correctly)... ...Time flies, memory limps... Also a very big fan of Tuvan music, EPI Enkhjargal Dandarvanschig This piece, so beautiful! Per aspera ad astra ars longa vita brevis

  • Perfect for this morning. Sitting back before making breakfast. Very beautiful and so well play. Thought back to the first time I heard You on KZhead. You were in a little clump of what looked like Aspen trees playing a medley of 3 Irish tunes. That was a bunch of years ago. You've grown.

    • You are close, but not quite. It’s certainly not a sweet song. Kongurei is a mourning song, warriors returning from war to see their home destroyed or forever changed. Where is my herd of horses gone? Where are the homes of my people? It is an old, traditional song and many of the nomadic peoples from Tuva, Mongolia, the Altai ranges, the Kazakhs and surrounding lands have a version of it in their own language, but the point remains. It’s a song that may be more prevalent now than ever, with the traditional ways of life receding and mines and industry destroying and poisoning much of Central Asia.

    • @@EmelieWaldken Would you ever tour in the midwest? If so, I'd be happy to go to one of your shows. I bought my Nyckelharpa from doctor in Minnesota, he actually made it himself. But there a lot of folk music festivals in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Missouri. If you decide to, that would be cool.

    @drakonyanazkar@drakonyanazkar23 күн бұрын
    • Thank you ! It's a traditional song that every singer/band performs differently. It's often quite long, with the main theme repeated many, many times. I chose to keep that main style and really take time to let that theme shine, while also adding my own variations to it.
