  • Villa’s start to the season has been incredible and when you take into account we’ve done it without 4 key players from last season in Moreno, Mings, Buendia and Ramsey. It’s far to early to be talking about top 4 at this stage of the season imo.

  • Since his first game on 11/06/22, Emery has guided Villa to 61 points from a possible 102 points in 34 EPL games. If you stretch that average out over 4 more games (a full EPL season), that’s 68 points from a full calendar year of EPL games. The 4th spot in 22-23 was Newcastle at 71 points and 5th spot was Liverpool at 67 points. In 21-22, Tottenham was in the 4th spot at 71 points and Arsenal at 5th with 69 points. And in 20-21, Chelsea was in 4th at 67 points and Leicester at 5th with 66 points. The bottom line is Emery has done fantastic work at Villa since arriving and the numbers don’t lie. Emery has had Villa on borderline Champions League form since arriving. Whether that continues for the full season, we shall see. But Villa’s place in the table is not an anomaly. It genuinely reflects their form since Emery took over from Gerrard last fall.

  • We have the greatest manager and the best squad I've ever seen in my lifetime. We can't afford to get ahead of ourselves though - we just need to take each game as it comes and focus on ourselves and then the points will come as they have been. This season there are realistically 9 teams that could finish anywhere in that top half of the table: Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Villa, Newcastle, Brighton and as poor as they are right now I do think it's naive to rule out Chelsea and Man United. This is a project with Emery and we will only get better but this season I'd be more than happy to finish 6th or 7th again.

The problem was Martin was that you signed the majority of these players, they were on high wages and decreasing in value all the time they weren't playing. No wonder Randy Lerner couldn't financially afford to keep up with it. The thing is if you buy these players, it's your job as a manager to get the best out of them, not to discard them.

  • For people who have forgotten how big a history Aston Villa has. Aston Villa was one of the founding teams of the English Football League. William McGregor, the AVFC chairman, is credited with forming the English division in 1888, the "father of the league". Since its conception, many teams have been and gone (there is no team that has been in the First Division since 1888). There are six teams who have never been relegated from the Premier League since its rebrand in 1992 (Aston Villa is not one of them). The teams with the most First Division titles since the conception of the English football league (European/Champions League Titles in brackets) are: Manchester United - 20 (3), Liverpool - 19 (6), Arsenal - 13 (0), Manchester City - 9 (1), Everton - 9 (0), Aston Villa - 7 (1), Chelsea - 6 (2). AVFC deserves to be back near the top. I certainly don't want to get ahead of myself, but I'm rather excited with how we've started the season.

Very few people see this but every human and in this case every football player has the same capacity or similar capacities to learn strategies and tactics and to build themselves up physically . So , a quality manager that recognises this like Arteta , De Zerbi , Emery , Rogers , Ancellotti , Postecoglou , and the list goers on , that is capable of recognising the difference between reputation and talent , deserve credit . To me , these masnagers don't rely on the4 players performing the best . What thyey do is improve their players and make therm play the best . They sign p[layers bnot because they're the best , but because they suit their systems .

  • The only team to have won more points since Emery took charge is Manchester City. The team is winning matches with a confidence of a team that won’t be worried about playing against anyone. If they can avoid getting a number of lengthy injuries they can be in the mix for the title. They have one of the best goalkeepers in the league the wing backs are dangerous going forward and they can actually defend a solid midfield and the forwards are dangerous in Watkins possibly the best striker in the league on current form.Them and Newcastle are flying under the radar as the only predictions being discussed are spurs arsenal and Liverpool are the ones who will be fighting city. I’m going with Villa and Newcastle for the battle with City spurs will struggle to get top 6 and Chelsea is a underdog and can easily start putting together a decent winning streak. Liverpool and Arsenal are scraping out the wins at the moment and Tottenham after the next 4 games will have played only 2 teams in the top half of the table so when they play against the top half teams they will be found out. The fact they always self-destruct at the end of November and during the December period is as reliable occurrence as Christmas. They will be out of the FA cup and league running by the end of January.

Europa League winners get in....... and now 2 nations with the best coefficient from the previous season will enter........ so by rights England will always have at least FIVE in the champions league if they keep getting to Quarters/Semi's/Final's...... So technically all a team has to do to gain Champions League football next season is get 5th.
