I'm 23 years old and listening to this hymn again reminds me of my homeland and my childhood connected to my Catholic parish in Vietnam. Now I'm in Japan, I'm very lonely here. Hymns are a joy that comfort me when I'm sad and also strengthen my Catholic faith ♥️

I am Episcopalian. Raised in an Episcopal Church School (Oregon Episcopal School from kindergarten through high school graduation). My birthday is Christmas Eve (1956). My maternal grandfather (who died 4 years before I was born) knew how to play one song on the piano. Silent Night. (My maternal grandparents were both from Austria. The country where Silent Night was written.) For my mother (who had adored her father), I (an accomplished piano player since the age of 6) would always play Silent Night for her on Christmas Eve. Until her death in 1992. Now it seems that whatever Episcopal Church I happen to be in on Christmas Eve in whatever city I happen to be in, always at the strike of midnight the lights are dimmed, the candles are lit and the congregation (whether a few hundred or a few thousand) softly sing Silent Night. I no longer cry much about things but midnight on Christmas Eve I can never make it through Silent Night.

Please accept Yeshua our Savior as your Redeemer. He loves you so much. He died for you. We all deserve death but He conquered that through the shedding of His blood. There is a reason you feel the way you do. Its because you were created in His image. You are His all you need is to accept Him. Repent and turn away from Sin [wickedness/breaking the 10 commandments]. Sin destroys us. No one ever felt great after lying, stealing, killing, etc. We are living in the times of the end and I don't want you to end up in Hell where all wicked ppl will go. Satan is s lier and deceiver He wants you to believe there are other gods. But the reality is there is only Almighty Creator Yahweh and whatever else religions out there are worshipping demons fallen angels. Please do some research regarding these matter it is important for your eternal destination. Ask the Holy Spirot to reveal truth to you. Read the Bible. Read Revelation the last book of the Bible. May Yahweh give you wisdom and tug at your heart for truth.

God the Father of Jesus is the God of all--including Lucifer, therefore Jesus and Lucifer are sons of the same Father--but they are not brothers as you say--Lucifer was thrust out making him an out cast Lucifer is no brother to Jesus. Besides that, your information is inaccurate. Someone lied to you. Mormons believe in one God, and they believe in Jesus as the Son of God. They don’t believe in the Trinitarian doctrine, but then that doctrine was not invented until 325 AD. - which means Jesus didn’t believe in it either. The fact that you need to make others “less” than yourself tells us more about YOU than the “others.” It clearly tells us that you are no follower of Jesus.

My maternal grandparents were both natives of Austria. My mother (who was born in New York) would always cry at midnight of Christmas Eve when our Episcopal Church would sing Silent Night. It had been the only thing that her father could play on the piano. Which he did every Christmas Eve until his death in 1952. 4 years later, I would be born on Christmas Eve. 7 years later (having taught myself how to play the piano starting at age 6) I would play Silent Night. Specifically for her. (Fortunately, I learned how to play other things on the piano. (lol))

Hiw did this song just have me forget all the confution in my head?? Just amasingness. Why does this song have so much power? When I was in Elementry School around Christmas time, this song played kn the bus and all the kids including the crazy ones were jsut silent for a moment. Untill I pointed it out and my friend lauphed about the sudden silence and people started talking again. But man I love this song. And just like I said in my last comment, its not even Christmas season. This song is just good for the whole year I think.

Hm! Very interesting what you say. If we go by the senses and feelings (which belong to our old crucified flesh), yes, you can say that. However, the one that’s led by the Holy Spirit, like Paul in Acts 16, won’t accept anything, not at least a recommendation from people that were NOT following Jesus. And that’s so because we are instructed in 1 John as such: “9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.” So, it doesn’t have to do with the performance in itself but with the source of the performance, the spirit that stays behind the people that perform. Be, thus, careful.

The very premise is absurd; God created us to have feelings and senses for our enjoyment and for his as well. To be sure we can’t allow feelings to run rampant ( we’re told to be self controlled ) but senses and feelings in their redeemed state are 100% from God.

My favorite thing about this song is the famous but seemingly forgotten story with it. How the Germans and British and even the French armies ended up singing it from opposite sides of the trenches in world war 1 on Christmas Eve

I can’t say this touches my heart sung by the Tabernacle Choir. What does touch my heart is when I hear it sung in a movie or documentary about the Christmas Truce in WWI. It also brings sadness for their situation too.

I am Episcopalian. Raised in an Episcopal Church School (Oregon Episcopal School from kindergarten through high school graduation). My birthday is Christmas Eve (1956). My maternal grandfather (who died 4 years before I was born) knew how to play one song on the piano. Silent Night. (My maternal grandparents were both from Austria. The country where Silent Night was written.) For my mother (who had adored her father), I (an accomplished piano player since the age of 6) would always play Silent Night for her on Christmas Eve. Until her death in 1992. Now it seems that whatever Episcopal Church I happen to be in on Christmas Eve in whatever city I happen to be in, always at the strike of midnight the lights are dimmed, the candles are lit and the congregation (whether a few hundred or a few thousand) softly sing Silent Night. I no longer cry much about things but midnight on Christmas Eve I can never make it through Silent Night.

My maternal grandparents were both natives of Austria. My mother (who was born in New York) would always cry at midnight of Christmas Eve when our Episcopal Church would sing Silent Night. It had been the only thing that her father could play on the piano. Which he did every Christmas Eve until his death in 1952. 4 years later, I would be born on Christmas Eve. 7 years later (having taught myself how to play the piano starting at age 6) I would play Silent Night. Specifically for her. (Fortunately, I learned how to play other things on the piano. (lol))

Hiw did this song just have me forget all the confution in my head?? Just amasingness. Why does this song have so much power? When I was in Elementry School around Christmas time, this song played kn the bus and all the kids including the crazy ones were jsut silent for a moment. Untill I pointed it out and my friend lauphed about the sudden silence and people started talking again. But man I love this song. And just like I said in my last comment, its not even Christmas season. This song is just good for the whole year I think.

Hm! Very interesting what you say. If we go by the senses and feelings (which belong to our old crucified flesh), yes, you can say that. However, the one that’s led by the Holy Spirit, like Paul in Acts 16, won’t accept anything, not at least a recommendation from people that were NOT following Jesus. And that’s so because we are instructed in 1 John as such: “9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.” So, it doesn’t have to do with the performance in itself but with the source of the performance, the spirit that stays behind the people that perform. Be, thus, careful.

The very premise is absurd; God created us to have feelings and senses for our enjoyment and for his as well. I can’t say this touches my heart sung by the Tabernacle Choir. What does touch my heart is when I hear it sung in a movie or documentary about the Christmas Truce in WWI. It also brings sadness for their situation too.
