This restoration is on a 1920s Stikfast Label Paster made by The A.V. Ross Co. of Norwood, Ohio, USA. This tool seems to be fairly rare as there are only a few examples online and not much about the company that made it. The patent for it can be found here: patents.google.com/patent/US1...
The label paster top is copper plated for some reason, but the bottom is not. I do not know why. I really liked the look of copper, brass, and iron used in this machine. The brass components were stone-washed and lightly repaired. Some brass discs had cracks in them, but not large enough to affect the function of the tool.
I decided to get some practice on hand painting brass labels and took the time to do just that with the smallest brush I could find.
I feel like this tool would not be very practical since the glue in the bottom part would start to harden if it wasn't always being used. I also imagine that cleanup would be more time than it's worth.
It's nice to do some work on a smaller and less complicated tool after spending months on a chainsaw.

There is a distinct reason this man commands the #1 spot for favorite restoration KZheadrs. He's thorough, he's methodical, he's hilarious and now I've learned he's musical!
Haha thank you!
Congratulations, I think your blog is the only one I've watched with the ability to watch welding first hand through a darkened lens.
7:32 G'day Chris here, and welcome back to clickspring! :)
12:33 - Chris runs screaming into the Outback
We ran out of time, but he's up for doing something for a future video.
@@HandToolRescue Restoring the ORIGINAL Antikythera device....Challenge! :-)
@izee That was my first thought when I saw the file work on that disk. :-D
This is why I love your channel! I half expected a grin at the camera when you were sandblasting, but then you go and make a music video right in the middle. You are very creative and the funniest guy on KZhead! Thank you so much for brightening up my day!
I have no idea what a label paster even is but you better believe I’m looking forward to seeing one restored
I've been missing your happy videos lately, so I decided to watch some of your old ones. I feel better now.
Literally the best part of every single video is the sandblasting with the head bump. I live for that haha.
This is one ☝🏻 of my favorite videos of your many restorations! You are a riot!!😎👍🏻😂🤣😅 and you still maintain your brilliant craftsmanship!👍🏻❤️😃
Love your restorations!!! Very cool old machines that worked well for their day. Your comic relief additions are gold! Keep up the good work!!!!
I'm addicted to these dang videos now.
I really like that you restored the original roller as well as made a replacement, it’s nice to see the original tool respected but also to see it improved!
A post from Hand Tool Rescue! It's going to be a good day! Yours is the restoration channel by which I judge all others... no one else seems to make the grade when it comes to: unique projects, quality of restoration, outstanding results, and entertainment. I loved the musical interlude! Thanks for posting!
notxarb21 The others do have one thing over HTR that he hasn’t been able to do. Others seem to be able to restore rusty plastic cases like rusty blue plastic Makita drills. HTR will never reach their level no matter how low they go. 😉
@@Crewsy you must mean the fake restorations...i have to agree with you there.
This video alone has so many tips and tricks its almost overwhelming! I love it! Thanks you! Turned out great btw!
What an illusion this restoration has given me. I have been using this machine for more than 30 years in the company I work for. Thank you for making me live this nostalgia for old machines, I love them ...
I’ve never seen one of these before. Beautiful work, as always!
I absolutely love your channel and videos. Thanks for the smiles you give with your channel 😊
I was sad to see no intro until I saw the one man band. You are a genius. Thanks for the video.
Hahah, it's coming back next video!
Drop the beat, lol! laughing so hard at the music break!
The face into the blasting cabinet glass always makes me laugh
You are so funny 🤣
Wow I just watched this video TWICE and it's amazing!
Loved the impromptu gig. Thank you 🙂
Hi I was in AWE.. I haven't seen a power hacksaw since Machinist school in the 60's, THANK YOU for including that, very nostalgic!!! Stoney
I'm so glad your channel exists!!!!!!!!
I love your sense of humor! Your videos not only entertain but are informative! You show us some very interesting items!
I just love to see old things coming back to life, its art !!!
Cool device! Nice tear down and clean up. Beautiful restoration.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse that the intro wasn't played, you stop with a mid video music break...AND TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF! Great job as always.
My thoughts exactly but, lets not forget the hand tool tongue sticking out of the paster at the end.
One of the things I really appreciate is how you take the time to use the correct tool for the job ;)
Great job and thank you for the amazing painting tips!
Yay another video from the only real restoration channel!!! I can’t watch more than 30 seconds of the other channels! Too many shortcuts and not enough attention to detail
Yeah there are a few really bad channels out there. Burying something you machined a week ago so you can dig it up, grind off the rust and spray paint it doesn't count as a restoration
Nice job welding up that base 👍 cool project and loving the musical interlude 😂
The way the discs look together is ingenious.
That came out real pretty. Memories from yesteryear. Nowadays this is all massive machine produced. Very cool.
Lovely work! I'm looking forward to watching the saw refurb!
I was waiting for your quirkiness! You didn’t disappoint!
Cool! Useful for that old-world look and feel. That is a well used machine! Somebody took pretty good care of it too. Thanx for a nice rescue buddy! Awesome tune, btw. lol
Great job H.T.R. that resto came up fantastic brother. The best thing i like about you is your spontaneity, i found myself nodding away during your add lib musical interlude, it was very fitting i thought. Again best resto channel second to none mate. Love ya work.
Great video - loved the 'rhythm scene' - you are great at what you do and at the same time hilarious.
The musical montage was totally brilliant!
Great restoration as always. I had no idea that was even a thing. Watching you re-file the grooves in the wheels, I thought I was watching Click Spring for a minute. Great job, even without the super campy 80's sitcom intro.
Loved the music break! Great job!
Wow, that certainly is an interesting saw you showed there
A brilliant video surpassing even your phenomenally high standard.
That face plant onto the booth gets me every time!
That restoration was Great Captain.
Pretty cool machine bro, well done . I love the style of these old pieces.
I can see why not much is probably known about the company that made this. It’s such an impractical and messy tool! I can already feel the glue getting all over my hands and making the table sticky. Regardless, it is very important to preserve these tools as they give us a look at how creative people were to find solutions for problems
Eric.. the original and true Rock god of restorations 👍🎸
Another great video who knew you were so musical And such an amazing dancer I finally figured out what to engrave on that wrench “ if a man made it a man can fix it”
One of the few channels I get excited for 👍
Dude, funny hilarious and on beat. Another great restoration video as always
Looks great. Bet it was really messy to use. I especially enjoyed the musical interlude. 😁😁😁
Great video and rescue and to find out you’ve got rhythm too-such a talented dude.
That's a cool machine and well worked. I hope you can restore your dancing next time.
My dancing is so exquisite mere mortals cannot comprehend it.
Hahahahaha
@@HandToolRescue It's getting pretty rusty, not gonna lie.
sound mix was AWESOME!
Dude I love your videos!! Always great learning and entertainment!! Keep them coming!
I love seeing some of the more obscure tools being used to open & repair things - like the absolute beast scale lockable pliers used to remove a ratchet. : D
Another fun and exciting video! Keep them coming. Love the humor you add to your videos. I actually only live about 40 minutes northwest of that address. When I was younger. About 30 years ago. I worked at an auto parts store one street over. I don't think that building is there anymore.
This is the prettiest little machine!
Man, I'm dead 😂 for that sound plz do this all time 🤣👍
Am I alone in saying that the "simpler" restorations are the best to watch? I mean that its great to watch something like a 2 man chainsaw or the bandsaw (which I envy on a daily basis) being brought back to working life. It is astounding. Theres just a bit of something extra in giving tools like this, that would have likely been tossed in the trash due to convenience/cost when they were used a 2nd shot. You are a wizard, my friend!
I couldn't stop laughing when you did that "music". Especially when you banged your head on that sandblaster 😂😂😂 too funny. I love the result. Looking great 👌🤗
Aslo
Music break was awesome . Loved the faceplant beat
I like how all these restoration video give everything a better finish then it probably had factory
Amazing! Such a good work, as always. Plus: skill, equipment, knowledge of an engineer...surplus knowing how to set it on camera, that shows an amazing creativity and humor. I'm a big fan, eventhough I don't show it normally. But right now (and thats my second comment on YT) your videos are very much fun to look at. Well done, Mr Detail!!! To close it: Keep on working as you do! THX a lot! Greets from Germany!
Your entertainment included in each vid is great. At 10:00 on this one was a musical composition of brilliance. Thank you, Maestro.
Loved what you did with the manufacturer plate. Great paint skills!
Great job as always!! And on your rock tumbler you should add white swimming pool sand to it your pease's will come out a lot smother
It looked like a Yamaha RD LC 350 gear-box I once saw...after a gruelling race. With beat and all. What a video!
Nicely done! Thanks for the video.
Super job on the brass name plate.
Great restore, as always. I sure hope my wrench is on its way soon. Been waiting months for it to arrive.
Musical talent as well as great restro skills!...Nice!
The best!! luv your videos. RGS from Italy
Never been this early before. Love your videos. Greetings from Denmark
I love your videos so much they bring a smile to my face every time. Plus I am learning new things from every video.😀
The one and only thing missing from this video is your co-star Nutella! Still, always a thrill when you release a new video.
I was born, raised, and still live in Norwood, OH. I know the site this company operated on. Very cool to see it in your video!
Loved the improvised musical recital! If you decide to do an album, put me down for a copy!! ☮🙃
Dude, you have golden hands! Good job!
Great video and restoration... the music montage brightened up my day.
Well done as always brother
I cried the way you used your scissors.😭 RIP scissors This comment was provided by an upholsterer😘
I love this channel ❤ thanks for what you do
Looks more like a code breaking machine than something for gluing. Maybe the glue dissolved the paint on the top so it was plated instead. Thank you for another stress busting video. 👍
Your channel should be 1000000000 subscribers Good job From SYRIA DAMASCUS 🌹🇸🇾🌹🇸🇾
Unsub from T series, sub to Hand Tool Rescue
Your beard, man... is epic.
And here I'm sitting again, watching someone else work.
I love hardwork, I could watch it all day.
Okay, okay! You earned a thumbs up for the Tool Jam.
8:35 Holy shit! Finally someone that can actually film welding up close! Thank you - not a welder so always wanted to see it up close so I could see what was actually going on in there haha.
hey man, don't stop, carry on what you do!
Putting hot glue on the tongs is ghetto an genius at the same time! Also, I love your little music piece at 10:00 !
Путин - вор! И, надеюсь, его скоро казнят...))) А мелодия восхитительная! И с чувством юмора у автора все замечательно...)))
Awesome video as always! I have a pro tip for your bandsaw when you are cutting small objects, but the baseplate has a huge opening around the blade, as seen at 11:36 You can take a sacrificial wooden plate, cut it until it lines up with the rear of the baseplate, then put a pair of visegrips to hold it down. you can now cut the small pieces precisely since the sacrificial plate will provide support all the way in to the blade itself. :)
The brass tag alone is a work of art!!....its cliche but they really "don't make em like they used to"
I finally got a notification! On time! And I was busy ... oh well, I'll have fun later. Four hours later ... I was squaring & sharpening dollar store chisels with a stone and sandpaper (not allowed to use the bench grinder at midnight somehow). It's nice how factories let you finish making the stuff. Sharp, square and violently shiny. So shiny. I think I have might have a problem
Had no idea that one of these even existed. Looking forward to your rescue of the band saw.
That music video made my day!! So this is basically something that rolls adhesive onto a piece of paper
Great restoration but your secret is out now that you showed the magic at the end. It’s not only a label paster but also a label duplicator. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One the best channels on youtube.... simply AMAZING bro! Wow please continue!!
Thank you!
You make it look so easy.
10:04 This is why I love your videos. 🤣🤣 I have watched every video you have posted and will continue until the end!
Thank you!
so fun and entertaining, love you show, keep up good work, im wah here since you first video upload
