6 Strange Einstein's Habits That Could Have Contribute To His Genius

Some say that great minds think alike, and that’s up for debate, but they do seem to have one thing in common - they have some strange habits. Albert Einstein, one of the smartest people ever, had a lot of quirks! Did you know, for example, that he despised socks for some reason? He never wore them at all. He wrote once in a letter to his wife, Elsa, that he had to wear high boots all the time just to hide his bare feet.
Also, Einstein had a strange routine linked to his daily naps. While he drifted into dreamland, he held a metal spoon in his hand and had a metal plate lying on the floor right underneath the spoon. When he fell asleep he would drop the spoon on the plate. But why would he do that? Let’s find out!

SUMMARY:
- The only reason Albert Einstein didn’t wear socks was that in his childhood, it took him just a day or two to wear out a hole in a new sock. His thoughts were so important for him that any issue - even annoying socks - wasn’t worth the distraction.
- Another habit that Albert Einstein adopted in his childhood was building houses of cards. When our brain is busy with something mechanical, it sets free our ability of abstract thinking. The more concentration needed, the greater the possible effect will be!
- Despite his first reaction, Einstein was curious enough to change his mind about violin playing. Also, there’s no better rest for your brain than a change of activity. Tired of doing math? Play guitar! Tired of playing the guitar? Go for a walk, try out some photography.
- It’s not that Einstein was lazy or a sleepyhead - that’s for sure. But he was a passionate sleeper. We all know that a healthy night of sleep is good for your brain. But generally, 7 to 9 hours is enough. Still, it’s important to remember that we’re all different. For some of us, 6 hours are alright and others need all 10, like Einstein.
- His walks had nothing to do with benefiting his health. The thing is, while we walk, we’re not busy; our mind is left to itself. Plus, it’s partially concentrated on the sole process of walking. That’s why a long enough walk can put you in a sort of trance. It’ll allow you to relax and think about things differently.

  • He held the spoon and when he fell asleep, it would hit the plate, and the noise would either wake him, ( which wasn't the purpose), or alter the sleep state to a lucid sleep state. He could direct his dream to any part of his subconscious. Tesla also did this, along with a lot of the "geniuses" of the past. It's actually very difficult to master though.

    • @@jumpoutntl During that fleeting moment between the body falling asleep and the mind still being somewhat awake, if an external noise disturbs the smooth transition from awake to asleep, you can train yourself to keep your conscience mind alert as your body drifts off to sleep. If your mind is awake while your body is sleeping and dreaming, this is called "lucid dreaming". With practice, you can explore your own dreamworlds and beyond. This is what he was after. As he fell asleep, the spoon would hit the plate and the subtle noise wouldn't fully wake his body, but it would, at times, wake the mind. This probably isnt any easier to comprehend, lol. There are other, easier ways to lucid dream, but Einstein never thought inside the box.

At one time I read that a great writer slept more than normal....I came to develop a similar habit and felt rathet awkward later on because things weren't improving....progressing. Later came to know that so and so writer sleeping so and so hours was not exactly true.

  • The reason he slept with the spoon was to access his sub conscious mind. The short period between being awake and sleep allows the thoughts from the sub conscious brain to filter through. It’s like a magic twilight zone. Edison had a thinking chair. He relaxed with bunch of keys in one hand. This allowed him to access his inner thoughts. If he fell asleep, he awoke when the keys hit the floor and started the procedure over again......he also had a few “lightbulb “ ideas! I was very intrigued to discover Einstein did the same thing!

  • By the way the sleeping habit is true! As a A+ student I do things according to myself. I cannot study with a strict teacher, but most of the parents want their children to study from a strict teacher. I think that parents should first understand the child needs and mold the surroundings in such a way so that the child is able to concentrate on his studies without any tension. And I want to give a BIG ADVICE TO ALL STUDENTS OUT THERE WHO ARE AFRAID OF MATHS: Never EVER go to a strict maths teacher, because see you are already scared of the subject and when you go to the teacher who also makes you feel scared the it's not solving your problem Go to a nice, friendly mathematics teacher, it will definitely help you!!

  • 1. He wore no socks, cause holes were a problem and he fixed it by not using socks. 2. Bulding houses of cards, cause it took patience and concentration, thereby working out his mind. 3. Playing violin, same reason as building cards. 4. Sleeping 10 hours a day and napping during day, cause his brain was very active, and he found that he would have his greatest ideas when napping. 5. Daily walks, cause walking occupies the body while the mind is free for thinking. 6. Accepting routine work as a habit, for the same reason, occupying the body while the mind is free to think. Conclusion: he constructed his life around thinking.

  • Habits that help me become my greatest self 1.) Taking 3-6 cold showers a day: •Expands blood vessels to get that blood flowing throughout body, resulting in mental clarity and stronger digestion of the high vibrant brain foods I consume. 2.) Dream writing: •Dreams are where my greatest ideas come. It gave me new video ideas, guided me on my ailment healing journey, and even inspired my to write a book about that journey. 3.) Getting competitive in video games : •Video games are something that are a deep passion for me. Since it's such a deep passion it forces me to want to get better. Thinking about the fastest strategies or how to become greater than the competitors also expands your mind. This competition allowed my to apply what I learned in video games to real life fields, allowing excellence to be achieved without much problem

  • I've written the most beautiful rnb songs and country songs when I'm asleep. not when I'm awake though and I've had no formal training in doing it. your mind does become more active when youre sleeping. so Einstein used half sleeping and being half awake and half asleep for a few moments so that he could take advantage of when he was at his time of biggest brilliance. there is an area of limbo you can put your mind into to be right between the world of the living and that of dreams. if you do it, you can harness this brain power. that is why he needed the spoon to wake him up after he went into limbo too far and into complete sleep
