About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.
Thanks Ryobi Australia. Now Jack and Megan have no choice but to finish the caravan project. 😆
Haha no excuses now! Thanks so much for watching Michael! 😊
No guys, we should be thankful to you for sharing your adventures and now this build with us, thank you Jack and Megan 😊
Gavin you bloody legend mate! Appreciate your kind comments 👍🙏
"Wash your hands Jeffrey. With the Solvo Jeffrey" haha, couldn't help myself. You have to have lived through the 70/80's to know this ad jingle. Oh and be an Aussie. Kids in every household would sing this back to the adults when told to wash our hands.... Looking good guys. And cheers to Ryobi! Very generous
Hi Jack Stop beating your self up. You are doing a great job.
Cheers Brian!
great job guys and awesome by Ryobi to support! Tip for Paint roller trays: put the tray inside a garbage bag, then pour the paint in on top of the bag. Use normally, then when finished, pull the bag off and throw away, leaving you a perfectly clean roller tray. keep up the vids, we love watching.
Great tip!
Bloody great idea 💡 👍
I,m definately using that tip , awesome .
Thanks Ryobi! Also been helping mighty car mods for ages!
So grateful for their help! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
You two always make me smile , love your enthusiasm and keep up the great work. Thanks also to Ryobi for your support.
Thanks so much for your kind words 😊
Chiming in from Duncraig. We fully reno'd a late 70's Roma 17' 6' single axle caravan a few years ago and it came up a treat. New floor/new walls/new ceiling (from Gunnersons- white walls theme / complete new internal fittout/new security screen door/modern style new hinged step/new axle-springs-shocks-electric brakes-rims & tyres. New split system reverse cycle aircon. New full height fridge & underbench freezer, island double bed with Orpho pillowtop mattress, modern benchtop with deep sink, new smart LED flat screen TV from Camec. Ours came with 2 x 4 seasons roof hatches in perfect cond. Added a large storage box to front drawbar. New carefree 16' rollout annex and external LED strip mode lighting. We have had many awesome holidays in it up at places like lancelin, Kalbarri, Coral bay etc & down south in the Dunsborough/Margs, Albany, Esperance regions. Tare weight 1,300kg & gross 1,700kg so it tows like a dream in our 2007 120 Prado as you are not towing a heavy slug which most modern caravans are. Wish i knew you were in the hunt for a vintage van as i would consider selling her as we bought another van recently - 1989 18' poptop as follows - Coromal "Seka 535" 18' dual axle-fully independent suspension/ poptop in exc cond as i want to kit this one out for fully off the grid and wanted a light poptop to get down those difficult tracks with low rooftop clearance (roof is no higher than the Prado when down which means good clearance from overhead branches when the going gets tough). Let me know if you want any advice or any pics as i have a flickr folio a can link.
"You can't argue with Mathematics"....quote of the day ! loved the music and fun vibe in this ep, which considering it was about sanding and watching paint dry, two of the most boring subjects...... killing the production as always.
Jack, look in to a bulk loader and buy your sika flex in sausages. It will save you a fortune and won’t be so messy👍 well done on the floor.
Thanks for the recommendation mate!
Ryobi have been a huge part in KZhead helping people out. Makes you feel any better I’ve got liquid nails all over my hands and can not get it off. I’ve spent hours trying to get it off with no luck. I’ve given up and accepted my dirty hands.
Not sure if you guys get help or do it all yourself but Production is first class. Has always been good but is hitting new levels. Great work.
You guys are doing a great job! Thanks for not editing out your stuff ups. I can’t wait to see the finished product I’m sure it’ll be awesome. 😊
Hey guys, yes I was cracking up a lot, but don’t be disappointed with yourselves as you are doing it, at least you’re giving it a go with a real good attitude, it will turn out just as good as the truck, who cares how you get there. That’s awesome of Ryobi, such a big help, I have Ryobi stuff, love it. The heat your working in is enough to send you crazy. 😊
I,m hooked once again on your video’s, passion, give it a go attitude and sense of adventure. Loving this!!!!
All restoration project have there mishaps. It make it fun to see and how you solve the problem. Tip when it happen, step back and have a beer😂
Myrtle is looking good!!! 😆 Definitely made me laugh, I love both your energy. Embracing the highs and acknowledging the lows! Congratulations on the tools from Ryobi!! That is truly awesome 🙌 Did notice the safety boots getting some screen time - almost as much as Merv 😂
Myrtle is looking great guys, enjoy watching your caravan renovation.
Great job guys, enjoying the build. A little tip with the blower, take it with you on your travels. Apart from cleaning they are great for getting camp fires kicking.
You two are awesome you make me laugh constantly. I can understand the intense pressure but just think how proud you are both going to be when yr living in it and enjoying it. Can’t wait until next week you both always cheer me up. You both are so dedicated to set yrselves goals to achieve and get along so well together working and living 🌟* WELL DONE * 🌟 From Tassie🤗
As you guys know ive been following you for quite awhile and loved it. well i quit my job ( 6 months notice) and am setting up a 4x4 canter with an ex ambo shell as a camper for my 18yr old son and im taking my cruiser and van and a couple of motor bike and we are lapping this great land. Thanks for all the inspiration
Before you do the cabinets, maybe consider getting a track saw? Ryobi make one. Have you considered mocking up the layout using full size cardboard and tape?
Tiny home base camp next project. Build it from scratch. 😉
Haha, love how Megan was wearing white when doing the dirty rusty cleaning, then black when laying the clean floor down😂 Youre doing an amazing job guys. Tip, when spreading/smoothing/touching silicons with bear hands/fingers,, use soapy water on your hands/fingers before touching the silicon .... or use gloves. Safe builds guys🤙
I was wondering the same thing, had the rust dust everywhere but the white top.
Tip for getting silicone, paint, glue etc off your hands. Wash hands with petrol. Yes. Seriously. Obviously need to wash hands properly afterwards, but does a very good job getting the gunk off.
Great ep! The quality of videography is really enjoyable! Build an expedition camper and take it to NZ. Or, how about a tiny home series from old shipping container(s). Might keep them on the land your at right now and when you buy a piece of land in the future, get some trucks and a crane and ship them!
Very smart product placement by Ryobi but certainly a good win for you two. Absolutely love your videos and the honesty show share with us all. A project I would like to see/do would be to make a weekender out of a couple of shipping containers on a bush block. I look forward to your next video
I love watching you guys, you're funny as. I thought it was going to be an easy job too,I can't believe how much is involved. Just go slowly and enjoy yourselves 😊
Awesome vid guys! We did an old van a few years ago, and my advice would be to measure the size of the fridge before you install the doorframe, because ours didn’t fit 😂
Your caravan is looking really great can’t wait to see what the insides going to look like Ps you are a lucky man Jack Megan is beautiful
Your doing a great job. Keep the good work up, have a good week and see you next week.
So so so so much fun and laughter
Well done Ryobi! Looking great guys. Enjoy your videos. 😊😊
Loving this build, so exciting to see what you’ve achieved each week ( no pressure guys 😂) your doing a great job 👏 How good are Ryobi!
Like wildling sailing, a cat yacht. Sail the world. You can get the plans and build one.
Great job! So glad to see you're doing it properly/taking the time to make the structure last. Frustrations are part of the challenge of learning, so embrace it!!!
Awesome episode, really love your work and its inspiring to watch. Originally, I was daunted by the amount of work you had in front of you, and I would have found the disrepair of the van overwhelming but now that I can see it happening, I can see the possibilities and how it will turn out. It will be so rewarding to finish it and look back at the journey. Also love your positive attitudes and energy in such hard hot conditions. And good on Ryobi Australia for supporting you and making things a lot easier, great to see. Just keep going we love it!
Good job on the tools! Well done Ryobi! That's amazing
Although stressful at times I’m sure, you guys must have some very relaxing, rewarding and fun days. That bush background works wonders for one’s health.
Make sure you insulate the floors and the rest of the caravan...you will appreciate it when it's hot or cold
Doing a wonderful job on the caravan keep Up the good work
When you put a fresh mask on, the little bit of metal around your nose give it a pinch to form the shape around your nose to stop them black marks
4:00 I see Megan has a secret super power of being able to work in a white top without it getting filthy , I can't do that 😆. One question you might have already addressed , will you be bonding / fixing the roof to the new aluminium cross bearers so the roof doesn't rattle against them when towing and chafe ? It's looking great , a credit to you both and how good of Ryobi to send those tools , that has to help heaps 🙂
I just replied to a similar comment about how Megan managed to keep her white top dirt free, that there must be a glitch in the matrix. 😁
@@fatmanoverlanding science has to be
That looked like a very satisfying week 😊. Apply for the Block!! That would be a project 😂
Classic could you imagine 😂😂 would be incredible. Thanks so much for watching 👍😊
Love it. Well done. Love the fact that it's real and mistakes / accidents do happen. Keep going
Thanks heaps Rodney! Oh yeah there are going to be a lot of them 🤣
Guyyys! Do a tiny house 👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks Ryobi. Great tools l have some myself. Jack and Megan we believe in you guys. Job is going well so far. Should have cleaned the axles while the floor was up would have easier. Keep up the great work
Hey Guys future project Teardrop camper lol 😂 set your mind to anything and with the help of KZhead Tutorials anything is possible. You are both doing a great job. 🐨🌻🕊️💖
Ryobi rocks!! Thank you Ryobi 😘😘😘
Bloody legends hey!
Thanks again you two! These jobs are always challenging! That's life, eh? Don't be too hard on yourselves. You're on a steep learning journey and mistakes are good lessons to point you in the right direction! You're doing great! Phil
Tiny house with outdoor bath etc on the property you are staying on.
Awesome video guys, slowly but surely coming together. Ryobi are legeneds, who doesn't love new tools? And love the new intro too!
You are both doing well!!! I have an old 7m bus converted to Motorhome. I’m slowly trying to jazz it up, but things just keep going wrong. So your next project could be to help me.
We wanna see a matching vespas project 🛵🛵
Just wanted to let you both know that you are doing an amazing job with the caravan. You are so good together. I've been watching your channel since forever and always enjoy every episode I watch. Well done for giving it a crack. Oh, and I did laugh a lot😅.
If your going off-road with this van have you considered putting the water tank under the bed? Under chassis tanks cop an absolute flogging and you've already progressed along to far to do an easy chassis lift.
Gloves! Gloves! Gloves! That'll show the Sikaflex who's boss. 😁 Great progress guys. And congratulations on your collaborating with Ryobi. 👍
My dream project if for you guys to come and renovate my house!! Good work on the van so far and congratulations on the Ryobi partnership. You can never have too many tools.
I think you guys should do up a old school vespa or some sort or moped maybe even the same year as the van and have it sit on the back for those quick shop runs and little town trips 😀 would be so cool
Love this adventure your on and your both looking great .but a white top while sanding rust cant wait for end result 😊 .NZ Hawkes Bay .
Take your time and enjoy, love your resto, keep up the great work 😅😊
Great stuff guys! What a crazy adventure you two are undertaking together.
You guys are knocking it out of the park, especially in the middle of this heat awesome job 🎉❤.
❤thank for inspiring me to keep going on my own dream 1964 vintage rv . I'm also doing a full restoration. One step at a time.🎉 ugh!😅
Good work Jack & Megan !! You both should be super proud of what you have achieved so far! Don't get yourselves down as its looking amazing! Thanks to Ryobi for all the tools!!
If you guys were in canberra, I'd help with the cabinetry. I did 3 years of building kitchens.
We are in need of the state crossing dance for achievements like laying down the floor
I think a houseboat would be cool 😎
Well done and good job Ryobi. Been using Ryobi since my battery drill was NiCad. =)
Was that the red structural primer? You'll find that "etch" primer will stick and stay stuck better for you. Interesting build guys. Top effort!
Jack don’t know if you are going to add a grey water tank in but if you do then you need to think about that as well being that some places tell you can’t stay without one. Something to think about
Jack & Megan keep it up Rome is not built in one day. The end of the build you will look back and say job well done greetings from South Africa
Thank you for another great episode- & yes, Jack is right: just take your time - something my mother always said- anything is possible if you just take your time & persevere! 😘😘
Spot on mate! Thanks so much for watching 🙏👍😊
Are you really DIY'n if you don't get explosions of goop every now and then ;) So keen to see on the layout you go for, hopefully you get to fit in an ensuite!
been there done that with those floor frames. Horrid things which I gave up trying to grind and rust convert. In the end I rust painted them and they cam up well enough. It was barely surface rust and some pitting.
"It's Science" 🤣🤣 You need to put that on a shirt! Classic!
Good work guys. That ep gave us a few giggles. Breathe, Jack 😂
Doing great guys. Your not going to worry about the floor under the covering when you are sitting by the beach enjoying life
You should restore a boat!
Wow you guys are doing an amazing job. Just a thought is there any chance you could fit two water tanks because you do a lot of off grid camping 😊
Wicked video guys, in the future with silicone use gloves and spray with very soapy water after youve applied it, it wont stick to your hands
Good work Guys! Any thoughts about fitting a grey water tank underneath? Might open a few more camp sites for you and is also good for the environment 🤠
Next time you’re at the hardware store, maybe buy some window film to help create a slightly cooler work space?? 😘😘
Not a bad idea!
Well Done!
Thanks mate!
Great video guys, you work so well together!
Looking good 👍🏻
Bloody love this series keep up the great work
Thanks for following along John!
Looking good guys, keep up the good work
Nice progress once more 👍🏻 I enjoyed every minute of it 🥳
Great job guys and you make it fun too❤😊
Amazing work guys, you are making it happen, love the team work 💪💪 🙏🏼
I have Ryobi products also. Did you run the outside trailer wires before putting the floor down? It's going nicely guys!
I'm also amazed at the job you're doing ! 👏👍
Do a house, guys! Some rundown W.A.shack! Then, you can audition for The Block!!
A shack would be awesome hey!
That's the secret Jack, slow down, relax and enjoy, get some lights and work at night, might be a bit more comfortable. Floor looks great after all that anyway...👍
Ryobi now support both my fav ex van lifers. Makes me glad I bought a few Ryobi tools 😁 I always wanted to do up a two story old train carraige, with kitchen & bathroom in the areas where the entry doors are, bedroom/s upstairs and lounge/dining downstairs
Great video guys, looking forward to the seeing the 12v system and shower/toilet set up.
Hahaha made me laugh 😂. Myrtle is looking awesome!
A customer boat series would be pretty cool!
Well done Ryobi!
