  • Wanna add something to the "something in common" point. You don't have to have the same opinion and can even have opposite opinions if you still show interest in your partners opinion. I dated a girl who was scared of big dogs and was more of a cat person. I understand why she didn't like big dogs and even though I'm not against cats I told her I have a mild cat allergy so I could never own one. But I can go to a friend's house even if they have a cat. After we started dating I told her I'd like to try and show her the even the biggest dogs can be big teddy bears. We're no longer together but we still see each other occasionally. I'm a dog walker and go visit her and her calico and walk her 110lbs Rottweiler. We might not be a couple anymore but because of the respect we had for each other's differences in opinion we were able to go beyond them

  • I feel like I could be a great flirt. But I spent my life believing my sexuality was inherently insulting to women and must be hidden. So now it feels extremely unnatural unless the girl has already expressed interest in me first. Good luck on that, right? Haven't gotten that since college. So I have to get over the wall of feeling like expressing interest is invasive and unwelcome. Honestly, I have no idea how to do that.

    • I've been working on my limiting beliefs when it comes to relationships for the past three days, too. What I suggest is write down on a piece of paper (that's important!) what you're afraid of. Really allow yourself to write exactly the thoughts that come up, even if you're ashamed of them. If you have any feelings about what you're writing, write those feelings down, too. Once you feel you've written enough, or a lot of emotions are bottling up inside of you, take a moment to let these emotions sit. When you're ready, you can let them go. Then rinse and repeat. Know that your beliefs will most likely persist a bit. That's okay. Just keep on working. Here a tool to welcome and let go of feelings/thoughts: Could you welcome the feeling (without wanting it to go away)? Could you let it go? Would you (let it go)? When (would you let it go)? (This tool is called "The Sedona Method")

    • And I grew up thinking my sexuality was inherently evil and that my job was to make sure men didn't ever have "impure thoughts" about me so while I'm a huge extrovert and should be able to flirt I completely am at a loss as to how to communicate to men that I think they're attractive cause that alone feels dangerous and immoral. So like I feel this bro. And in a strange way I'm glad to know it's not just a phenomenon to be ashamed of your sexuality amongst girls only. Though I wish neither sex had this issue put on them. And I pray you find growth and healing here as I recently have been slowly doing and I'll leave you with the wise words of Master Yoda "you must unlearn what you have learned" lol

  • I think many people don’t realize the benefits of flirting, and this applies to long-term couples as well. Flirting is most certainly not a new development in the modern dating world. I think there are just a couple of reasons why flirting is essential for relationships: -- Reignites the Passion -- It’s Good for You -- Keeps the Friend Zone Away There’s definitely some skill involved when flirting: ✅ Make eye contact. ✅ Keep your body language relaxed. ✅ Change your tone of voice to fit the situation. For example, whisper if it’s a sexy question. ✅ Bring in some humor. ✅ Be original and stay away from cheesy pick-up lines. ✅ Smile. ✅ Be confident.

  • Being a little nonverbal has helped. Facing toward her and we smile a bit. Not much of a talker but always get fuzzy talking to her. We laugh in every awkward moment we've had since we started seeing each other with our circle of friends. I was nervous at first when flirting with her. Started out with a gaze and a laugh, sitting shoulder to shoulder, mine lightly rubbing hers, then almost kissing her. She asked if she tried to but I playfully turned it around, and it turned out she was trying to. Dress to impress? We both manage to do that. And I think it's my nervousness with a hint of mysterious allure that she's been into me for so long.

  • I always thought that the attempt to flirt is more endearing than the actual ability to do so. Sometimes trying it despite how bad you are at it is by itself enough to get a conversation going. I had the anxious need to outright ask my babe for our first kiss before I could actually bring up the ability to do so, I've seen both sides of this. It took me a long time of experience simply watching casually to finally get this information to stick in my head and relate it to my own hindsight. It is my view that the best thing a person can do is simply try

I have experiences where people go "stop trying to be funny in everything" but I eventually learned they were the types of people that would criticize me for everything and never treated me like an actual human being. Especially with girls.

    @ros_t5143@ros_t5143 Жыл бұрын
  • I think this video is missing one important thing. Communication is a two-way thing. Don't just talk, listen. Not just to what they are talking about but also to where they are steering the conversation and what that says about how they are feeling. Are they comfortable with the approach and speed you are taking or do you need to adjust it? I had a person I had only just met flirt at me by text. And that's the thing, it was "at" and not "with". They just kept giving me compliments on my looks (which as somebody who has been lovebombed is a major red flag) while I was trying to steer back the conversation to actually talking about the one thing we had in common/where we had met. But they pretty much ignored me and acted as though I had been flirting back in the same way they were. So they kept flirting more and more aggressively, sending texts you would, in my opinion, send somebody you had been on dates with. Then they tried calling me about 5 times in one afternoon. I had panic attacks as a result the entire afternoon, had to get a friend to text them to tell them to leave me alone and block them. So yeah, don't act like that. Listen to how they react to you. Are they flirting back? Are things going a bit too quick for them and are they trying to slow you down or are they driving at the same speed as you. Also remember that compliments on a person's appearance before you know their personality can come off as quite shallow, as though you were not interested in them as a person. The best compliments are usually more specific ones that relate to a person's personality or skills

I say theoretically because if your crush isn't interested in you, you can be the nicest guy and get friend zoned at best. This is not meant to discourage you but to keep in mind. As someone who had very poor luck (and very very rough and countless experiences with getting rejected) this is something personal I want to add. On the plus side, I learned a lot through it, especially how I treat people now and always giving my best to be helpful and friendly (because I know the exact feelings if someone you like isn't nice to you)

  • I'm a real stool when it comes to flirting. I can literally think for days about what to say, how to compliment, how to show romantic intent, and absolutely nothing comes to my mind, well mby other than "I like you, you are pretty". I feel like an alien around girls and people who I barely know. I now think I've always got girls and never even said anything to get them. But what I know for sure, there was always a lot of touching right from the start of knowing each other. Something like friendly shoulder grab, hand on the back of the girl, sometimes carrying her in my arms. The point is neither I or a girl ever remembered what we were speaking during our first encounters. Always when I met girls that later became my girlfriends I was at the peak of my "I don't care about absolutely anything right now, I'm just having fun and not thinking about consequences" mentality.

Like, really if you think you don't look good then grooming and hygiene can not only make other people see you at your best but it helps you develop self confidence and self love. Even if it doesn't work out on your first attempt well, get more experience. You have your entire life to flirt and look for someone compatible.

  • I know people have a lot of trouble with talking to their crushes… for some reason, I usually develop feelings for someone in the same friend group as me, which makes it slightly easier to talk and a lot less nerve-wrecking… a downside is the fact they’re a friend and might see you as just a friend because of it. I do feel like this may help me in the future, but for now… I already have someone

  • Everytime I show a little more courage I actually already use some of these techniques. But all I ever got is friendzone or total rejection (girls just disappear) and I am not a beginner. I started doing this when I was a teenager and now I am almost 28. So I just have come to terms that some people (like me) are not likable in any sort of way, sexually or romantically, no matter how I hard we try

    @simoneb9574@simoneb95742 жыл бұрын
    • Others experience no romantic or sexual attraction whatsoever. If the person looks busy or preoccupied it may not be a good time to flirt. Don’t be a creep and hit on people outside of your age range too.

      @crazycat2344@crazycat23442 жыл бұрын
    • And don't try to hard brother! Rejection only leads to the person who wants to be in your presence. Nothing is wrong with u. You just need to let go of bad experience, and know that you are fkin worth time and effort. And if someone isn't interested in what u say, that's their problem

      @michaelnguyen3159@michaelnguyen31592 жыл бұрын
    • Hey! That is not true at all. You are likeable, loveable and worthy of desire. Your brain might tell you you're not those things as a way to explain your past experiences, but don't listen. Are you maybe only looking at the prettiest girls in the room? Are you maybe being too direct with girls? Women don't want to feel like they're being played or being preyed upon. And if irl experience doesn't work, try dating apps! You are absolutely beautiful and that's the mindset you need to carry! Women also don't want someone who brings self-pity, they're not therapists! I wish you the best of luck, don't ever decide that you're not desired sexually or romantically! You are an amazing human being that managed hardships all the way to your 28th year! I think that's pretty fucking cool.

    • Let me tell you as a reasonably attractive woman who has lived in the Friend Zone so long I think they elected me mayor a few times sometimes you gotta step back and look inside and find what about you needs to grow. Not for the sake of finding a date but because you want to like who you are more. Which in turn makes you more likable and attractive. I've done a ton of person growth in the last couple years and while I live too rural to have a lot of dating options I did have a guy buy me a beer at the last concert I went to which had never happened before so I call that progress. Just keep working on liking who you are on the inside and then whether you find a mate or not you'll at least be living with someone you like for the rest of your life rather than dealing with your insecurities through suppression and bad coping mechanisms
