  • I absolutely love the mindset you have, I’m going to be a combat medic in the army and I ship in a couple of months, I love cars with almost everything I have and would love to have a KZhead channel on building my dream cars. I didn’t think I could but you showed me I can. Thank you for starting this journey❤

  • I had an annoying chirp after replacing a weeping water pump on a 3.0L Taurus. I replaced the water pump again and still had the chirp. I looked at the belt and it appeared good. Finally pulled the belt off and really inspected it. Found a small piece of glass that was lodged in a groove and worn square. Popped out the glass and the chirp was gone.

  • Sadly a ASE certification gives the person a title but..... I swapped my first 351 Cleveland motor and transmission at 12 years old in a 1970 cougar RX7 By Myself. . ever since then I have fixed all the cars and trucks 'motorcycles and any combustion motor I have owned. Every time a ASE mechanic has had the privileged to charge me money they screwed my shit up worse.... I'm 58 now and still fixing other mechanics lacking car knowledge. So my point is you are humble and learned Good man fixing those cars. Having tools and the ability to use them correctly is a natural talent that you have. Schools charge extremes amounts of money to get those papers I do get the part about having done the classes to show a customer for their confidence to hope you can fix it. My opinion is that a person such as yourself will do a better job because you do read and ask questions on each job making sure what you do is correct. That my friend makes you capable a mechanic where as most ASE wont or don't have the time to check correct install of parts. You do a great job.

    • Thank you for the kind words Kevin! engine and trans swap at 12 years old, thats impressive! Im not an ASE tech, nor do I claim to be a master tech, but I try to remain teachable, and I think thats most important. I keep telling myself, the day I stop asking questions and learning, is the day I have hit my peak. Appreciate the comments and support!

  • I've had this before and some cars just will not be cured. I've found fitting a slightly shorter belt can cure it - just 20 mm shorter to put slightly more tension on the pulleys. I don't like those hydraulic tensioners much and find the mechanical spring loaded ones better.

    @berwhaletheavenger@berwhaletheavenger Жыл бұрын
    • That’s been my experience as well with the tensioners, I prefer mechanical too. Yeah some cars just haunt you with a belt squeak, luckily this one finally went away, but boy it can be frustrating

      @DayOffDIY@DayOffDIY Жыл бұрын
  • Glad you finally got the belt squeek fixed! I think 6k for that car with all the work you put into it is a steal. Even tho I would prefer a MT, I would be happy to buy it if I lived in the US. Also your dirty pup is too cute😂

  • Recently had a squeaking belt when cold issue on a GM 3800 V6 that was also solved by replacing the belt, the old belt looked in good condition with no cracks but it was the culprit nonetheless.
