What is EAST-TIMOR? 🇹🇱 Unveiling Southeast Asia's Least Visited Country!
East Timor (Timor Leste), a country many people have never heard of. It's Asia's newest and least visited country. Founded in 2002 the country is situated on the eastern part of Timor Island, whereas the western part belongs to Indonesia. After 400 years of Portuguese colonialization, East Timor became part of Indonesia in 1975. After a horrendous independence war the country eventually became independent in 2002, becoming Asia's youngest country.
East Timor is a tropical paradise embedded between Sulawesi island in the north and Australia in the south. The country is one of the poorest nations in Asia as well as one of the most untouched and secretive countries in the region.
I am travelling to the capital city of Dili, and explore the bustling streets and surroundings of the city. I meet some of the most heartwarming and welcoming people on this remote island 🇹🇱
Join me on this touching adventure on the brink of the Timor Sea in Asia's youngest and most mysterious country 🎬

Little Chinese Everywhere is my favorite. It is so educational and well-made. Borneo and East Timor are places seldom seen in videos.
True! No Chinese - good🫶🏻
@@mercychan8422You are just jealous of them.
My uncle used to live in East Timor when it was still a part of Indonesia, but during the conflict, he moved back to Java. Some others also moved to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. He said that Dili (East Timor) is So beautiful. I'm really grateful you went there so I could experience its beauty throught your video.
Why is all people is very kind and hospitable ,they are all smiling ,thier smile is contangious ,love seeing east timor people even they are in difficult or hard in life but they positively thinking what life is❤
Hi Yan, from Brunei to Timor Leste, pretty amazing to see you visiting the lesser travelled countries in Southeast Asia, and I truly enjoy experiencing these countries with you and Flo through your videos. I really think your formula works, ie showing your viewers the lesser seen parts of the world with your finesse in cinematography, no lack of interaction with locals, and explanation of the country's culture/history etc.
The children’s smiles were infectious. Very cute.
Setelah merdeka dan berpisah dari Indonesia semoga Timor Leste semakin maju dan berkembang serta makmur sejahtera rakyatnya ... salam dari Bandung Indonesia 😅❤😂
This is a very young country & I hope in the near future they will prosper & developed into a great country! Timorese are very friendly people.....many are working in East Malaysia (Sabah). God bless them🙏
Those work in Sabah are Timorese Indonesian and hold Indonesian citizens, Timor Leste citizens cannot work in Malaysia due to there are no agreement between the two countries to send workers from TL to Malaysia.
I have NEVER heard of this country before, thank you for expanding my knowledge about the world .
Formerly part of Indonesia from 1975 to 2001 and a former Portuguese colony from 1611 to 1975 But it was rather occupied by the then Suharto government which effectively blocked the established of an independent sovereign state since its ACTUAL INDEPENDENCE from Portugal
It just got its independence just 2 decades ago, plus it’s quite small.
I heard of it but didn't think much of it. Now thanks to Yan, it was nice watching. I also goggled why they use my currency. Learn something new each time I view her channel. 😊
Nagyon érdekes videó ☺️köszönöm Magyarországról ☺️
Yh, it’s understandable, we just got independence 22yrs ago. Every time I say im from Timor leste, people would turn their heads and be like “huh? Where is that 🤔?”
Wow, Timor Leste is like a Dubai or Singapore already when saw it from a straw. 👀
Thank you very much for sharing this part of the world to your fans. Greatly appreciated. wishing you and Flo have a safe and happy travel to share more experiences for your fans
Once again the drone shots present a completely different view of the country - so pristine and majestic. My very best wishes to the people of Timor- Leste, and stay safe Yan and Flo as you continue your adventure👍🏼🙏🏼🙂
Ketupat, or kupat, or tipat is a Javanese rice cake packed inside a diamond-shaped container of woven palm leaf pouch. Originating in Indonesia, it is also found in Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, and southern Thailand. Wikipedia
Thanks for bringing attention to this forgotten country with such a horrific history. It's so good of you to help recover how unbelievably sweet the people are and how transcendentally beautiful it is. I hope they get some development dollars since it really looks like it wouldn't take a lot to improve basic infrastructure. Sometimes your videos really move me and this is definitely one!
If you only knew how close it is to Australia, while Australia is a prosperous first world country, these people want to go South Korea for work, not Australia, speaks volume of that neighboring country.
Thanks for showing us this beautiful country ...always take care yan and flo..love from PHILIPPINES
East Timor is still dependent on Indonesian technology and they follow technology refreshment courses in Indonesia, they are speaking fluent Indonesian language too . My retired colleague works there as consultant in infrastructure development. Have a good time. Ketupat are plain rice dumplings in Indonesian culture , we eat it with a vegetable soup coconut sauce. You heard them speaking Indonesian phrases too. God bless you both.
Aussie just 40 %
They are obviously related and acquainted with their neighbors of the same island and close islands. I hope the peoples of both countries will get over past government struggles. In some cases, I think it would have been better if places stayed with colonial power but have internal autonomy. Insular SEA is quite a heterogeneous place, where a centralised government is probably not the best ides
You're amazing guys. Much love from Indonesia!
Another beautiful, far out of the way place with friendly, multi-linguistic people & smiling children. Love the drone views & your trusty dirt bike. Flo is having a blast riding through your destinations & you, Yan, seem glad to be on the back chronicling your journey. Lots of fun going with you. Thank you. Now I'll find East Timor on a map!
People are so friendly here, everyone has a big smile on their face!
Miss Yan, it's Jade telling you that Portuguese is the most beautiful language that you will love to try it out and when you are in that country, you will do learn a little Portuguese words and phrases.
A Romance/Italic language based on Latin under the Indo-European family of languages. The same language grouping where Spanish, Italian, French, Arpitan/Provençal, Occitan, Romanian, Catalan, Galician, Ladino (Judeo-Spanish language) and Romansh (only in Switzerland) belong.
I love seeing these types of videos. You were new to an area, clearly not from there and immediately, once communication was established, welcomed in with the locals to celebrate and join in festivities. This is awesome, I'm going to remember the name Timor Leste.
Kudos for showing East timour. The least featured country of the world and the youngest too. I hope the gov move the country forward with great development. So much potential.
Srdečně zdravím z Česka,, mnohokrát děkuji za nádherné video👍, jako vždy moc zajímavé a výborny komentář, diky moc za české titulky 👍. Taky obdivuji vaši odvahu, bylo to nebezpečné, hrozný terén.Opatrujte se, hodně zdraví, štěstí 🌹 ❤️🍀🙏🙏🙏🙋🇨🇿
Yeah I could imagine how expert have to be to ride those roads!
Southeast Asia is an amazing region.., the "insular" dimension permeate every aspect of life of million of people.. (for most of people in the Americas, Eurasia or Africa that we live in 'mainland" certainly is amazing). Thanks Yan and Flo for this amazing series of videos...
It’s very sad that a country is so poor, even beautiful. Thank for sharing this nice view.
Wow you guys are cool! The road less travelled will give you a richer life experience. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Hey cool I've been there before. Beautiful country and people. I'd definitely visit again
Yan is the most humble and kindest vlogger I’ve come across. Truly enjoying your wonderful videos 😁🙏
the people & culture are so kind :)
Very interesting, and beautiful. Very friendly people. Thank you.
I have heard about it (only ever followed by the word 'conflict'), but never seen it. So beautiful! Tropical paradise indeed.
I knew very little about East Timor. Thank you for sharing

Wonderful to see. I was thinking of going there soon myself.
视频做得太好了,稳定而优质的内容~
Thank you Yan, Thank you. I have always wanted to go there but the logistics were difficult. Now I get to see it through your eyes.
It's not the simplest place to get to!
Thanks!
Thank you 🥰
Ketupat is rice wrapped in coconut leaves weaved into a pocket. Steamed and eaten with curry vegetables tofu soup (called lemak). Very nice. Try it if you visit Indonesia Malaysia Singapore
boiled, not steamed
I am happy you remembered my earlier comment to continue to go around our little planet and document our fellow humans!! You should be made an Ambassador from China to the world!! Keep up your work. The world (and me) waits EVERY one of your shows!!
I’d heard the name but knew nothing about East Timor. Beautiful video as usual! You guys are so adventurous! Love it.
Thank you !! Beautiful drone views.
That was wonderful! Thank you!
Really Many Thanks Yan For Showing Us This Country !!!! All The Best for You and Flo ! Fernando
Beautiful drone footage
What a great vlog - I love seeing less travelled places and discovering what they're like. Thanks for this!
Love the music,Yan and Flo!So majestic......
Thank you!😊
Fantastic as always yan brilliant 👍🏻👍🏻
They look so much like people from Madagascar! My home country!
One root austronesian
Amazing, the places I get to travel to with you and Flo, thank you!
wonderful!
Nice beach side scenery👍👌
You are travelling far and wide now 😀You should visit Vanuatu. Not the main Islands of Efate or Santo but other islands like for example Epi which has its own little airport. Efate is the main tourist Island. Santo is less tourists and better than Efate. Epi is just village life. I have been to Vanuatu many times, from New Zealand, and sometimes could walk all day on beautiful tracks and sand finding beautiful beaches and blue sea. Sometimes walk all day and see no people at all. Very friendly people. I know a lot of Chinese people just love blue sea and blue sky, so I am sure you would enjoy it.
Your videos are wonderful as are you.
Surely there are many un-touch nature with beautiful sceneries. Very nice video, thank you.
Excellent! I always wanted to see this country. Thanks.
Hi! Happy to see Flo and you exploring and sharing the scenic scenes of some of the unseen South East Asian countries. Thank you and take care both of you.😊
Wow! Thank you for sharing. You take us places and allow us to see things that we would probably never see!
Thank you very much for this wonderful educational video. Chuck from Chula Vista, California
Another great video. Little Chinese Everywhere is my favourite lady KZheadr. Wonderfully laid back!
Both of you are energetic, strong will power, positivity to conquer, the wildest natures and less visited places, thanks for showing and love watching your videos.
Another good video to watch. Information about east and west Timor is a good to know facts, although you can read it in books but when you are already in youtube watching, its better to watch than to read.😊😊
Nice show. Thanks!
Thank you 🥰
You are also welcome here in the Philippines.. come and visit us.. We have Palawan and siargao and Boracay to visit..
Love it ❤
beautiful children, thanks for sharing this trip
你好,今天从B站前看到你的频道,羡慕你的生活方式,希望您能来西安看看,并让全世界的各位看到我的家乡。🎉
Mantap.. Sudah sampai Timur Leste
Love your fantastic view of Timor Leste🇹🇱
This is the first travel clip vdo I've seen about Timor Leste. It seems a poor country but people look happy.
First time I heard about this country 👏❤️
Such a video of contrasts, from the grey of the town to the colour of the coastline, the happy smiles of the friendly people to the sadness of the monkey in a tiny cage. All life is here on your channel which is why we love it.
so beautiful
Thanks for sharing. You are venturing out of China into obscure less visited places in the world.
Awesome. : )
Beautiful people ❤
👌, 🙏 Namaste to you both from India.
Way to go Drone Queen, you never dissapoint❤🇨🇦
Went there once pre covid. The inland region was cold and very beautiful. Looking forward to that ep

It is already a member of ASEAN
I was inspired watching your video..hoping to travel in China soon...from Philippines with love❤❤❤❤
Welcome to Timor-Leste 🇹🇱
East Timor has come a long way. It's beautiful now. Not too long ago it was on the cover of Time magazine for all the wrong reasons- chaos, destruction, war. In a few decades I'm sure it will be a prosperous place. We can tell you two are wilting from the heat. Nice show. Thank you.
Without money from outside will be no development. The money will not come from Indonesia or islamic countries. So this country will stay a fail except they find natural ressources. Maybe they will have debts from war time too. Does not look prosperous.
@@thomasmuller9243 Australia is the largest backer for Timor Leste to separate from Indonesia, because australia eyeing oil and Gas at the Timor sea ( border with australia). Australia get all the benefit now, but give little to none to Timor. Indonesia invested heavily in Timor to get people heart during the occupation periods, and now day even separate still helping by the largest investor in Timor.
@@thomasmuller9243they already found oil and gas but all the money went to Australia
They should team up with China. That will bring more progress. Beautiful island! could be a destination for brazilians because the shared language
OH Yan, you have come closer to my Country, East -Timor, beautiful people, all seem to be happy in that tropical Paradise and sharing their food with total strangers ,East - Timor, maybe a poor Country, but it has clean air & beautiful seas, with crystal Aqua marine waters, l think its just beautiful, now Flo drove the Bike,Yan Flys the Drone with the Eyes of the Golden Eagle seeing all that beauty that surrounds them, what a view the Golden gave ,when it followed the Coastal Road, just splendid work, on that note Yan, see you on the next video,Keep safe ,God Bless, Cheers & Best Wishes, Trevor.W.Bacelli. I've been to Kupang (Indonesian part of Timor Island), but never go to East Timor
People of east timor very similar to filipinos approachable
As a Portuguese person I really wish someday I can visit there! So sad that colonisation can be very harmful… I Hope that in the future the country is able to be financially more stable. Thank you for the video !
