I just let go of a guy I’ve been falling into sexual sin with. Just by this praise, chains are broken, destinies restored, curses lifted, the sick made whole, the blind see, that which was hitherto dead is brought back to life. If this line is really that big of a deal for you to critique the song, then you probably should just stop listening. Because this was one of the best songs on the album. Especially the lyrics of the chorus, it's just so powerful. When they say "his life was taken" they're simply talking about his death, not a literal taking of his life. No need to overthink that line.
When they said "when his life was taken.." they mean as when he died.....

When I came back to my Lord after being a prodigal for 17 years, Hillsong was the first music outreach God led me to. What a powerful entrance back to my Fathers house, with singing, dancing, and dining with my Savior! I never ever want to go back to being a prodigal again, as it caused so much destruction, but how beautiful was the presence of God as He ran to me, put His robe of righteousness on me, gave me His ring, and embraced me like I had never left! This is a truly moving song, with lyrics that carry so much meaning, but......it isn't about the singer or the other musicians it is only about Jesus and Him crucifide, if Jesus does not attract you and bring to repentance because of His cross, then, the song as beautiful as it is is meaningless. That is why there is a wealth in His cross, a wealth of forgiveness for all who would seek Jesus.
