At the start of 2020, Mike put out a video about a lost British sportscar called the Connaught Type-D, with the unique thing about it being that it had a tiny 2.0-litre supercharged V10 engine. We had so many people messaging us to rediscover the car after the company went under in 2004, so Mike set about trying to find the unique sportscar. And after some serious digging, he found it!

    • @@DrewLSsix there are half a dozen that I can think of between 3.8-6.3 liters and all but one have less cylinders. Sure there are a ton of four cylinder hybrids under 2 liters but they still have much more displacement per cylinder. I’d say 2.0 is a small hybrid but especially when you consider it’s a ten cylinder then it’s very low displacement Indeed.

  • Someone start a fundraiser purely for Mr Bishop. He clearly puts all his heart into his work and would mean a lot to him to be able to show the world what he's got in his back pockets. I want to see more of Connaught. I want to see that this man is capable to achieve with todays technology and that idea for a car.

    • Right? I've owned a Mk2 GLI with a 2.8 VR6 swap. The sound that thing made was biblical. This seams like a VRF(ormula) engine plan that just never panned out so they built a road car around it instead. Whatever the reason, my interest is peaked. I just want one of the engines, really.

  • Beautiful. Imagine the sound of a V10 and the economy of a hybrid. Considering this tech was made in 2004, that car is beyond cutting edge. Hybrids didn’t become a big deal until 2010-ish, and hybrid sports cars still don’t really exist, even though Mazda has called it’s shots, the Miata is going hybrid later. Truly ahead of it’s time, I love it.

  • As much as I like this whole idea, the owner didn't really explain anything that we wanted to know, he said v10 because you need alot cylinders, and narrow angle because it works. I wish he gave a more technical explanation of benefits such confogurations has. Best of luck

    • Hes not banning petrol cars outright you can still drive them but after 2031 manufactures wont be allowed to make or sell new petrol cars so if you have one built befour then you can still drive it

    • Naturally aspirated engines and an electric hybrid drivetrains make sense. Lamborghinis next roadcar will most likely be a V12 hybrid.
