Ecto-1 I think is the better of the two. I will not go down this Rabbit Hole no matter how great they look .......James Bond Aston Martin looks so.........dam it no I won't do it.
@@lordmalvada8212 I think I agree, the Ecto-1 is my favourite. Yeah the Playmobil rabbit hole is deep and dangerous. I'm still trying to convince myself I don't need the Knight Rider set but I think it's a battle I will ultimately lose. Thanks for watching LM, I appreciate the support sir👍🐵
I wanted to know if could mix match parts. If the top fits on the other one it would be better. I'm not a big fan of the stuff that attaches to nozzle. Like the Fire Arc or Magic or Spells type of things really. Why does the peg stay in the Yellow part on the Ecto 1 but not the 1A if seems almost same construction? I like one side of the Lintincular though not other. When it fades to the Ghostbusters it don't really work. I would have made it funnier way showed too. The Were Back side is good. In a way its cool having the Ghost Busters 2 logo but tacky too :). Better shock absorbers could help those UK roads nobody drives on Right side anyways :).
@@Daoloth The Ecto-1 has hoses that fit the yellow tanks. The 1A has rubber stoppers that don't fit very snugly, unless I just didn't push them in hard enough.
@@MonkeyboysToys Oh from seeing I thought they were the same. I guess it could just be the way did worked better. I don't know which order they were made even if released first. Tooling usually takes a long time. I got something rattling around my phone driving me batty. Something inside must have broke but its just a LAN portable. Even new TV has all lines on screen from this thing. They so cheap they don't make things properly or secure. I know I can never get the legs on those LCD TVS. NO matter what they will always be kinda loose ;).
This is another great toy from Playmobil! The light and sound effects really are the icing on the cake for me and are a fantastic addition. If I had to pick only one, I think it'd have to be Ecto 1 just because I'm slightly more familiar with it. Having said that, 1A does have the advantage of coming with all four Ghostbusters, which sweetens the deal in its favour somewhat. Both are very nice toys, though. These Playmobil reviews are a lot of fun to watch. There's something quite nice about seeing a childhood favourite being Playmobiled! Thanks for showing these, Monkeyboy. Have a good week.

Having not seen Ghostbusters (yes, I know), I’m not able to comment on how well represented the vehicle is, but it does look very nice indeed.
I would highly recommend Ghostbusters. It still holds up today, and is such an 80s classic. It has some great lines, my favourite being "Listen... can you smell something?" You really did such a good job of constructing the set, MB 😊 well done 👏🏽 It looks just like it did on the box, I'm honestly not as good at building my Playmobil sets myself. Also, I love the addition of moving lights and sounds here (and what's a Ghostbusters toy without slime?) Playmobil's value for money, along with their innovative action features are the reason why I haven't wanted to buy LEGO in yonks!

Thanks sir! This set is a few years old now, but I only got into the line last year. I honestly can't think of a toyline that offers such great value for money. I've recently picked up a few more Playmobil sets from another license, so they will be featured in the coming weeks and months. I've got loads of videos in the pipeline now. There's always a bigger fish! Cool to see the two Ecto 1 versions by playmobile compared. Ghostbuster fans might disagree, but personally I always liked the second film the most, same with Robocop 2, Back to the Future 2 and of course Empire Strikes back. btw, are you a Back to the future fan? Great review MB! Yes I spotted Ray Winstone or Way Rinstone even..... I'm going to say that the Ecto 1 is the better set/car/vehicle, as you pointed out the 1A is a bit to busy. Yeah I hate it when the rubber bits fall out of my bottom too..... 😅
Hahaha there's nothing worse than a loose bung. Or two in this case. Yup, for me the Ecto-1 has the edge. It's a bit simpler and the blue lights look cooler in my opinion. @@GreyHulk2156 yeah, I mean they don't fit perfectly flush like the proton packs but they do fit pretty well. I checked after I filmed the video because it's something I would want to know. 👍🐵

Yes, there were two visible fishes. Absolutely. The set assembly only took about 20 minutes, it was really simple. It was the stickers that gave me the most difficulty. I'm not looking forward to applying the stickers to the Delorean set though, I think that might involve some tense moments and swearing. Thanks for watching sir, hope your week is tremendous! 👍🐵
Yeah buoooy!!! This is a wicked looking vehicle but as much as a love Playmobil, I don’t feel the need to pick these up as I have an original Kenner Ecto1, but still awesome attention to detail👌 I agree the Ecto1 A is a bit busy, but definitely not to the point of been unattractive. Great collectors talk there Luke, 'I don’t feel the need to pick these up as I have an original Kenner Ecto1', to me that translates to, 'I don’t feel the need to pick these up YET as I have an original Kenner Ecto1, but will probably get both Playmobil versions in the next couple of months'......... Or is that just the way my brain works? 🤣🤣🤣

When you are putting the stickers on, Mr Monkeyboy, do you use tweezers? I find it helps if you hold the sticker by a corner with the tweezers, to get it straight, and then push it down with your fingers. Not sure if this would help you or not, but it makes it easier for me with my big sausage fingers.
Yeah I use tweezers or a toothpick, but my the tremors in my hands get worse the harder I try to keep them still, so it's quite tricky for me. Half the build time was in the application of the stickers. I got most of them on straight but it was very frustrating. Luckily the stickers are already applied to the Firehouse set. I think I might struggle with those on the Delorean though... Cheers for checking out the video dude! 👍🐵 Skeletor says you should check out his video this week. @@MonkeyboysToys The toys look so much better with the stickers, but it's definitely my least favourite bit of putting it all together.
@@GreyHulk2156 yeah I really struggled with them. The ones at the back were so tricky to get right. I bet there are loads out there with wonky rear stickers. That will be an issue for collectors looking for perfect examples in the future, believe me. It will be like Transformers are now, almost impossible to find them with stickers that don't look like they were applied with boxing gloves in the dark.
Great review. 👍. The original is the best, more iconic and recognisable. The sounds are fantastic. The 1A would look better without the hazard lines on the sides. Still good Playmobil have covered this film too. What else does Playmobil have in the pipeline?
Yeah I think the hazard lines spoil it somewhat, but you can't fault the screen accuracy. These Ghostbusters sets are a few years old now, but they were well worth picking up. The next Playmobil offering is likely to be the Magnum P.I. set. That's one I don't feel the need to get though. Thanks for watching dude, catch you soon! 👍🐵
@@MonkeyboysToys Magnum PI huh? yeah they really need to get a Battlestar Galactica 1978 license :) They are brilliantly screen accurate for the money - and better than official sets in my opinion. The Playmobil Star Trek set looks amazing but sadly expensive. Your sticker skills looked very good - you're too hard on yourself!

Recentky I discovered that the original Kenner line also had a Ecto 1A version of the Ecto one.. As I understood the big difference with it's predecessor were the stickers and the (awesome)package artwork. Playmobil made a much more accurate version ;-) Btw, Recently there was a version of the classic Kenner car by Hasbro, what did you think of that?
Yeah the Kenner Ecto 1A was basically the same toy with different stickers. I have the recent Kenner Classics version too, it's exactly the same except the mechanism underneath is covered up. The original one had the winch gear exposed. I don't think I will open it though, but I might show the box when I open the Hasbro Afterlife Ecto-1 that I also have. I think maybe I have too many Ecto-1 vehicles. Is six too many? 😅👍🐵
@@MonkeyboysToys Six Ecto Ones, Great scott! Could be interesting to compare these. A top six of movie accuracy? Top six of material qualites, etc.. How much more (licensed)Ecto ones would there exist? I might sound a bit cruel to a collector, but how I would love to disassemble these ecto ones just to see and compare their construction, industrial design, use of materials etc.. but hey, I would never do that to a vintage beauty ;-) Keep rolling with the channel Sir!😀

Does it let you swap the tops or they don't fit? Why are the pegs staying in place on the Ecto 1 compared to A? Maybe you put them in the wrong ones or so. I wanted to see if could just swap the tops on them how that would look or work. Egon has too much of an Elvis or Bubba Ho Tep kinda vibe way they did him I think. Reminds me of Butter Battle Book where one side would butter it side up while another side down for toast or bread. I guess in the UK they don't know how to hold a proton thing as everybody knows its laces out err the other way then said ;). I think even Skeletor would have put those stickers on straighter :). I had my own issues with Multi Use Decal for Knights Stanley Cup stuff ;). I think I put a few up on an angle not right ;).
Yes, the tops can be swapped and some of the other parts can be switched out, but I'm not sure why anyone would.want to do that. I would say the Ecto-1 is the must-buy set, and the Ecto-2 is for completists or for fans of the second movie in particular. Thanks for the comment Daoloth! 👍🐵
The yellow tanks on the Ecto-1 come with hoses. On the Ecto-2 they are just rubber bungs in the tanks which don't fit very well I might try forcing them in further.
@@MonkeyboysToys Weird they didn't have it tooled from the same mold I guess then. Unless its like the Game Genie or when would buy the N64 games from Japan having to cut off the edges to fit. Would have been a lot cooler if could swap tops to have different Sirens. I would have had the G on the far right so it would have been funnier seeing the Ghostbusters without the G when did the Lintincular sign :). I'm sure they would fire me the next day but it would be worth it once its out there ;). Its like the Punisher Action Figure the replaced or recalled ;).

@@MonkeyboysToys Yeah I didn't know PAL had like a different frame rate or something for Blu Rays. I had Amiga so would go into that mode. Yeah if you had the Game Genie for N64 the Japanese Imports like Virtual Pro Wrestling would plug into that fine. Yet some genius thought it was good idea to make the USA console cartridges differently. It was the same system I think but they had the extra piece. So there if recall were two plastic pieces on back that could cut off. Otherwise it wouldn't fit unless used the in between :). I ran into this with having to charge things. They have like those 3 sized plugs. Then even like threads some of them convert or fit into the battery but others you need an adapter. CDs or DVDs I think last tech that we can see from any region or convert the player to play. I had to get Ray Harryhausen stuff that wasn't Region Locked from like UK or Australia :).

Am i the only one who has a problem with a proton pack? one of them, is good, the black part doesn't fall off and doesnt move. The other one, the black part moves and its so annoying... i tried switching them and i realized the problem is the beige piece. any ideas?
Sorry to hear that, it must be very frustrating. The beige harness piece has two little pegs in the back in the middle, these should clip into the two holes on the proton pack. It sounds like these might be broken perhaps, either that or it's an error in the molding. Does the harness have the two pegs? If not then sticky tack or superglue is probably your best option. @@MonkeyboysToys i could show you a vid probably. Yes, i tried switching the black pieces. It's the same. One harness piece works for both proton pack pieces, but one moves for both. it has everything the other one has, except probably some lines that every piece has. It has the 2 pegs, and the upper left piece that fits there. weird that other harness works with both of the proton pack black pieces. Thank you for telling me that! Oh and also, a slimeblower green container keeps falling. I tried switching them. it keeps falling. idk why i think imma glue that one too
@@BuVidOG That's really weird that the harness doesn't hold the pack properly. It must be a manufacturing error. How annoying. Yeah those slime blower canisters don't fit very securely. Thanks, Adora! Yeah it was a fun build and I was very happy to be able to add it to my collection. I still find the first Ecto-1 to be slightly better because the blue lights really pop, but this 1A version is also a great toy. I'm looking forward to building the BTTF Delorean soon!
