  • Over the years, Labour had two types of leaders: those who treat it as a social movement, and those who treat it as a political party. The only ones who got to actually improve people's lives were those who realized Labour is a political party, not a movement - i.e., that Labor can get stuff done if it wins the election, not if they march in demonstrations. Anyway, Starmer clearly realizes that Labour is a political party and not a social movement, and, more importantly, that if he wants to help people, he must get Labour to win the next election.

    • @Swift BMF I disagree, we have a union in our workplace and the turn over of staff was appalling. We told them it is because wages are too low, hours too long and general welfare of the staff not considered. They didn’t listen to us until we went on strike. Now we have a better shift pattern, higher wages and wage increases that match Yearly CPI data. Now we have low turn over and the company is performing much better. Without the union this wouldn’t be possible which is worrying because workers just want a fair wage for making shareholders billions.

His policies and words are designed to appeal to the Tory voter base, but at their core they just as abstract in meaning as "leveling up" or "make brexit work" - the labour equivalent of get brexit done. Even their mantra: "build a fairer, greener, and create a more dynamic Britain" whatever that means, while also saying: No compromises or deals with the SNP - the third largest party in WM and largest in Scotland - explain to me how ignoring that and the 47% voter base is "fairer and creating a more dynamic Britain"?

  • It's absolutely rediculous that people think "just because one thing is bad, the opposition must be good". Unless people grow up and realise this simply isn't true, the pendulum will keep swinging as politicians keep over-promising and under-delivering, causing the cycle continue. Vote for which party's core values align with your own, not what they promise to do, and just hope for the best that they follow through with all the extra policies on top of their values. Honestly, I might just vote labour in to see the country crumble and know that I was right all along. Then I'll pack my bags and live in some hot country where the politics is bearable (most likely the sun).

Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

  • They all play this game when the opportunity arises. Tony Blair woke up in the morning and realised that he could move to the right, leaving labour voters with no alternative but to vote for him. Johnson shifted to the left to take advantage of the void created by Jeremy Corbyn. And now that the Tories are governing as proper Tories it has given Starmer some ground in the middle again. It’s all pretty cynical self interest.

    @nathanb2882@nathanb2882 Жыл бұрын
  • Keirstarmer is unfit to be prime minister. Tony Blair was prime minister from 1997 to 2007. He isn't as good as Harold Wilson he was a real labour leader. The electorate won't forgive the last labour government they overspent their budget because they're financially illiterate. They will never be in power ever again reason being they can't win in Scotland or middle England where the Tories rule the roost. They will remember also the horrible atmosphere where the labour front bench wanted another e.u. referendum. The then labour leader wanted another vote on çontinuing to be a member country in the e.u. as he didn't want to leave the bloc. He didn't respect the outcome of the electorate in 2016. The electorate punished the labour party in the UK general election in 2019 because labour are a complete and utter joke.
