In my entire 73 years of life, I cannot remember a time when I did not proclaim Clair de Lune my favorite piece of music. Has always been and will always be. So I thought I had heard every rendition of it ever played. Now you give me this. I am too grateful for words. Thank you!
I agree!
So agree.
I've been a professional for almost 50 years. I've played this more times than Debussy and most people. I could play it a million more times and each rendition would be different. I want to write more pieces like this. I hope I can someday.

Have you heard the Kamasi Washington version? Very beautiful and soulful. kzhead.info/sun/ftWDepFqmoSIY4U/bejne.html

Gave me goosebumps every time it hit
When I was a kid I used to spend all my holidays in South of France. I remember my mom making the breakfast. As we were eating our breakfast in the early hours of the morning in front of those huge huge huge wheat/corn/sunflower fields in the valley in front of our house she always put this same old kind of classical music in the background. Delibes. Saint-Saëns. Satie. And Debussy of course. This is what this song reminds me, 30-ish years later. This kinda hurts but it also makes me feel good at the same time. Merci beaucoup.
That's really touching

Looks like the flashback ego had in ratatouille
When I was young we were very poor but in me my parents instilled a love of reading and music. Days where there was little to eat, I would return from school and just eat chips and sandwiches and have milk or whatever and listen to classical music while reading. Good times.

It’s like 4,000 years into the future and most of humanity was wiped out along with our history but somehow the civilization that reigns was able to recover and reconstruct this beautiful piece using their technology. What was left of it was translated to this.

right at 2:20, there is an almost brassy sound momentarily that took my breath away. i don't know much about modular synths but that alone makes me want to understand what the heck is going on here (besides the incredible arrangement and rich textures that others have noted)
Thank you :) honestly surprised me too, modular has a mind of its own

Multi-waves Offischal music You could consider it a kind of incidental distortion, it certainly accentuated the bar with some intense texture
「Clair de Lune 」 is the culmination of Debussy's aesthetics . This performance is the supreme arrangement of Debussy's aesthetics called 「 Clair de Lune 」 . I just am intoxicated with this incomparable arrangement's performance and this Debussy's masterpiece . From chaotic Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun .
The picked / strummed nature of the sound is incredible. Very akin to a harp at times. Well done
I was genuinely questioning if i was listening to samples from a guitar cover at certain points, i have never heard such organic rhythms and patterns of notes played from a nodular setup or even software
@@markog1999 Its Mutable Instrument Rings, it falls under the Physical Modelling umbrella. The notes themselves are a MIDI version of Claire de Lune. :)
There is something oddly congruent between this manner of modular synthesis presentation and the musical impressionism of Debussy.
Mmmm yes I concur!
He was not being pretentious at all. What seems 'pretentious' to you, that is simply called 'knowing how to write eloquently in one's mother tongue'. Oh, one more thing: this rendition is beautiful! Thank you so much for uploading it, Annie.
I do kind of talk like I ate a dictionary, but I come by it honestly. :)

As a pianist that holds this as one of my favourite pieces to play, and as also a rabid synth fanatic... I think this was marvelous. Debussy was arguably the father of impressionism in the musical form, and had a thing for gamelin music so he would have LOVED this version! I've been fumbling around with the question of whether a eurorack rig would be money well spent for me. This goes a long way toward my justification! Don't tell my wife.
Best 4:33 version of all of time
Some might decry this display, but I think Debussy would have experimented with it. Bravo.
He absolutely would have - with the way he played with his thematic material based on his travels, his instrumentation, his risk taking... we often think little of ourselves where I think the 'greats' would be smiling down saying "keep going!"
Thank you! I think the greats in classical and “traditional” music would’ve loved seeing the evolution of their music, at least the curious ones

She is obviously not playing this live so she is feeding MIDI into the system. :)
MIDI. Really easy. But, I don't know how he/she is feeding 4 pitch note CVs into Rings separately (Rings has 4 v/oct inputs?)
There are two rings modules (top row, 2nd and 3rd model from the left) with identical settings. Rings can keep sustaining notes while playing new one, so theoretically you can hear eight notes with two rings.
