    • He can read people's *intentions* like backing down when Thor dared him to read his mind to see he wasn't playing. Considering how much it's Kratos's Berserk Button in general when people threaten his son, Heimdall CONSTANTLY and REPEATEDLY kept pressing said button despite all the chances to back down until Kratos's paternal rage brought him back to his old self, hence the brutal, old school-beatdown compared to his more disciplined warrior style of the Norse Era. Considering Kratos's own arc, *he's* become a god people can look up to whereas Heimdall is just a tool that poked the bear until it killed him.

Either way, during one of the boat talks, Kratos states he's lost all his magic and *tried* to still use those powers and Freya suggests it was because said magic was tied to the land (Greece) and the fall of Olympus meant that magic (save the Blades) went, too.

  • The heimdall fight is actually a great representation of krato's training. He didn't hit him until he went fist of fury mode, and like brok said, it overwhelmed his senses because up to this point no one had ever hit him. And lets be honest its not the old GOW games but he has to kill at least one god for the title to live up to its name and Heimdall just won the "god who dies" lottery. When Thor stares him down he doesn't engage because Thor is most likely someone who could land a hit on him/kill him too, meaning he is egotistical and a coward because he wont fight anyone who would actually give him a fight. Being able to read intent and predict means he also knows who has the capacity to kill him so he bully's the weak and doesn't provoke the strong. Kratos was an unknown factor, merely looking into his eyes he knew about the spear but was so egotistical that he considered it not a threat. Having no Intel on kratos other then the spear really did literally kill him. Conclusion: Don't fuck around and find out with a god who began as a simple spartan but then grew to the rank of god and slew an entire pantheon and as consequence destroyed his homeland/Realm.

    • Thing is, Kratos is not Thor, THOR is someone who can go nuclear, fly, way more versatile powerset than Kratos. Area of effect attacks Heimdall can't defend or run away from Heimdall losing to a goddamn spear is so lame. Cause if you get hurt once by the same fucking attack over and over and you dont evolve- really contradicts everything that built him up as a threat. All it took was a hax spear. Woulda been better if he lived to be humbled for the rest of his life. Cause the reading intent loophole makes no sense. Fact is, the guy was broken, and the ONLY reason he lost was because the script said so, Plotarmor.

    • @@lessermook7608Thor only has some more versatility because kratos greek magic and gear is dead after GOW3. OG kratos is easily more versatile than anyone in the norse saga (odin and freya come almost close). However, older kratos is stronger than before, but he has to restrict his rage every minute or he may become uncontrollable to himself and atreus. If older kratos continued with the same mindset as Himself in GOW3, anyone that was aligned with odin would have died brutal deaths. Kratos is cannonly faster than heimdall (yet his is restricting his full power). Thats how he was able to still land after the spear worked heimdall’s mind.

  • 10:02 i love what a petty person Heimdall is, he moved around Odin behind his back specifically because he could read that he would turn around, and also knows Odin wouldn’t notice Heimdall moving because of the blind spot on his right side. Heimdall basically forces him to move all the way, just to spite him a tiny bit. Not because it matters, just as a little power play because he can. And Odin on the other hand is smart enough to know what Heimdall did the second he sees that he’s not there, and it doesn’t seem like the first time Heimdall did that with him… but he’s so preoccupied with manipulating Atreus that he just files that away for later and goes on talking.

    • @@kaiyamya9882 Heimdall/r had a decent bit about his personality tbh, he was said to be loyal to Odin and Asgard, as well as a lot more benevolent and just than what he was portrayed as in GoW, also in mythology his main trait isn't his possession of forsight/knowledge and nstead his perception and vision which is able to see across the 9 realms and precise enough to see grass grow. • @@blip4106there’s a bit more as to why Loki and Heimdall hated each other. Loki constantly found ways to leave Asgard without Heimdall’s knowledge or consent, and everyone left Asgard with Heimdall knowing about it(except Odin I believe). Plus they just don’t work well. Heimdall is more benevolent and Loki blesses people by causing messes that nobody wanted in the first place. One guy is serious at his job and the other thinks life is a big charade of games. They’re just two different rivers.

  • Heimdall's death was legitimately disturbing to me because: A) It partially undoes the hard work Kratos did to bury that part of himself. As he had him dead to rights by the time he started slamming his head into the ground. There was no need to kill him. But he did it anyway. B) Because Mimir was there to see not only the kill, but the *real* Ghost of Sparta. In that moment, Kratos's closest friend that he had made in his new life saw that , if anything, the stories about him were greatly *watered down* The Ghost of Sparta isn't a legend to be revered and respected, but a monster, a boogeyman to be feared. And should you get in his way or , God forbid, piss him off you are categorically *f@cked* !

  • Something about Heimdall that I appreciate in “God of War” is the possible myth accuracy of his relationship with Atreus. Because in real life Ragnarök, while Thor wins the fight against Jormangandr yet dies to his wounds, Fenrir eats Odin, Hel is doing whatever the hell she wants on that fine judgement day, Loki is actually the one to face Heimdall in the end… on even footing to boot. Because at the end of Ragnarök Loki and Heimdall kill each other. Thus, I like to think this an accurate portrayal how they feel about each other: with animosity. That said, I have no proof because I it only knows of two of their fights: Ragnarök and *the these two Looney Tunes turned into seals and threw hands!*
