You are the best man.. Like from Tanzania. If this horizontal piston is possible to make make into a v twin then let us think through if we can make a flat twin probably from a single vertical piston..😎

Beautiful looking bike. testament to the hard work put into the project. Allen Millyard would be proud of this.
Yes, wonderful ability and skills here. Its like a mini Moto-Guzzi👍👍👍very cool after all that hard work and thought.
Theirs not many motorcycle owners that reserve such comprehensive skill as this dude much respect brother

The motor sounds great. And has pull.

What a talented engineer. Love that twin V sound on that tiny bike.

When my dad was alive he collected older Hondas, Yamahas and Suzukis that were in this date range.. He probably would've paid like $8000 for this bike. 1 off collector piece.. he would hav showed this thing all over the US. Nice work Dan, very nice work man.
I can not let this pass without a word of congratulations. What you did here is a great achievement worthy of my respect. I am quick to criticize things done wrong without looking at a work by its result. In this event I have no criticism of anything you did to change this into a one of a kind motorcycle. It made me suspect you have some academic skills in engineering? At the five minute mark, the beer I opened when you started was empty as I sat transfixed by the process. That is some big time distraction you had going on there. My beer was meant to last half an hour! Well i enjoyed watching the whole picture and tell you that is one fine achievement, fella! Be proud. You have earned a deserved level of admiration.
👋👋👋... a home-made engine using pretty rudimentary tooling... FANTASTIC! Love the "loose tolerances", too! Well done, great job 🙂
Really amazing work you did on this little bike. I had to watch the whole thing to see how it converted to twin from a straightforward single. I bet the power output has increased significantly. Looks great as a v-twin Bevel drive.

I enjoyed watching. I like the way you built the intake manifolds and exhaust. Very clever. Respect from Australia. 🇦🇺
Fantastic!!. Le Dan's creativity + skills, know NO limits!!.. Many congrats to a brilliant engineer!!. 🤗🙏🙏🙏
Brilliant, it sounds like a small Moto Guzzi. As a Guzzi owner I would so love to ride this, nice job.
Great build , shows great craftmanship. Love to see more projects.
Wow I'm just blown away every time you do one of these from spare/scrap parts! The skill you have to see the end product and just build it is simply amazing! Absolutely loved watching you do these and can't wait for the next one! I'm thinking you try and do a six-cylinder! Or possibly double it up and do a V4?
It’s exactly how Harley Davidson would have done it in the very beginning.

Really brilliant work. The motor seems really great. Before I got to the ride part of the video I was worried that ergonomics were going to a problem with one's knees and shins hitting the motor and air intake. You could move the seat back-wards and make the handle bar positioned back to accommodate the seat being moved back. Might require different handlebars.
Always a problem with tall riders and Moto Guzzi's. It's something you learn to live with, at least you have warm knees in winter.
Definitely one of the coolest retrofits I've ever watched and I've seen many these days too
Amazing, when a lot of people cannot put a jigsaw together without the picture, this guy has made an amazing engine without instructions (a fair amount of knowledge through) to watch it was almost majestic or poetic, with the basic of engineering tools he knocks it out the park! Sounds alright too! Allen Millyard of the far east, I salute you!!!
I do not have enough words to congratulate you on the work you have done! The sound of the engine is impressive! And it was also very nice!
You guys machining capabilities are amazing I don't know if that's a really good engine good idea but the fact that you did it and it works it's amazing

I like the bevel drive to crosshaft, to keep all of the transmission in original layout. Nice, imaginative, saves a lot of hassle. Respect for your skills. 🖖😎
Honda already built a v twin motor like this. Its called the CX motor platform. They built them from 1978-1985. Was put on the CX500 and the GL500 silverwing. So not the motor of the future. But a homemade blast from the past. Still did a great job.
My first motorcycle was a 1978 CX500. It was one of the best bikes I've ever owned. o7
They also built a turbo and a 650 version of the same engine.
@@SixPackDan Yes, and they were awesome!
I've got an 85 CX650.
That's incredible a guy can make a engine in his shop . But aren't there 2 cylinders now on small sport bikes ? That exhaust though , it reminds me of bubbles popping haha . And it seems slow to rev , as if its starving for gas a little.
Sounds good for a 206cc garage bike! The Honda CX twin was a great idea(had this same engine layout) that never really caught on for whatever reason. I loved my Dad's CX-650 Turbo, altho I think the novelty of it being a turbo was just what made it cool for me. These are V-twins, in every sense of the was a twin works, but they still look strange because of what we've been conditioned to see as "cool".
I really like that. The style of the bike looks great too. We'll done! Sounds good too!
Sounds like a twingle. Amazing build!
Absolutely awesome! I will note on the bearing you machined on the circle adapter. Tolerances might be too loose. You should have to Freeze the bearing and heat the casing to slide them in. Otherwise they may spin. Exhaust note sounds AWESOME!
Exactly what I thought! (I'm a precision machinist) for sure he's going to have issues with that bearing not being a tighter fit. Impressive work though with what the guy has to work with 👍
For this application he can probably get away with Loctite bearing mounting compound.
not overly familiar with the mechanics but would it be feasible to pin the outer ring of a bearing in place?

Wow dude, like wtf. That’s just insanely pure awesomeness to have those metals right there. That’s so cool!
A little constructive criticism, I would have made the front engine/crankshaft cover with cooling fins. Would look less blocky and would be functional. But I do love the build. Looks like a mini Moto Guzzi. I wish I had the machinery to do builds like this. - Nate
yeah I think he could, he did have a 2 axis milling table...what amazing is that he didn't have any CNC machine, yet he succeded
Thats exactly what i was thinking,i know that bike isn't build for a very long run bike it would be perfect for the engine..maybe he lack materials i dont know!
@@tukangiseng CNC machines require modeling, regular milling machines are best when one of prototyping. A good mill will take you anywhere you need to go.
Excellent job on the longitudinal (what -seems-to-be) 90 degree v-twin. MotoGuzzi is famous for this layout, but Honda also experimented with this setup in the 1980s. As other commenters have stated cooling fins would help with aesthetics and some of the internal aluminum seam welds could have better.
Just experimental, next build can be perfect
Only concerns i had with this build was timing and oil feed, thank you for spending the time to show us the oil journals and such. Wouldn’t be too much to make an add on and a new shaft to make a v-4 now would it! (Hint Hint) 😉
Inline 4 will be more balanced, but V4 may be stronger and less chance of failure.
Can give it v-boost too 😉
Sounds fantastic! I envy your skills and knowledge.

I don't know that it's the engine of the future for everyone, but it is for you. Good job. Remaking engines have been done almost since engines have been made. They have cut them in half lengthwise, across the middle sideways, and even put two inline 4s together to make v8s, mainly as race engines. It take a certain skill and you have it.
I believe in alot of asian countries this engine is mass produced for different mopeds, so this would be a big deal in the after market scene of said mopeds.
This is incredible! You are a genius!!
Fantastic work! Just Subscribed!! Thanks for Sharing!!!
10/10 excellent sound.
Best project 🔥
It's amazing what was done there, bravo. I once had a Honda SS50 too. After I over-revved the engine, it was repaired and then had so much power that the front wheel lifted off briefly when I shifted to second gear. However, this only worked a few times, then the gearbox was broken. With two cylinders, you have to be very careful, don't you?
Awesome work man! Much impressed!
The CX500 and especially the 650 should have never been killed off. I want to like guzzies but I've never been a fan of air cooled twins. Awesome project by the way. That sounds amazing.

This is impressive. It's work as ambitious as Allen Millyard's, done with considerably more basic tools.

Congratulations great bike and work you´ve got a natural talent
Nice build right there, you're going places😊 But I just want to add that you don't make an engine of the future by adding even more moving parts, however I can give you a clue to what your next project can do for you. Two pistons for compression, no cams, one cylinder, diesel like the Enfield Taurus. I think you know where I'm going with this, because I'm going to make something like this in the very near future to use on my own motorcycle, it's basically almost unbreakable😜
Deisel is going to be phased out in Europe over the next few years. Since the VW emissions cheating scandal (not just VW as it turned out) more work on the very real dangers of diesel particulates has been done so I can't see that being the way forward. Deisel motorcycles have been tried before, as I'm sure you know, but there's a reason they never succeed. Superchargers, maybe clean 2 stroke tech a la KTM, now that might be a way. Good luck in your project anyway Jan.
I agree, he shows marvellous skills, but he's still wasting them on projects that don't open up new ways of motor building. Excuse the hard words, but I think it's a pity to work so hard on beaten paths while there still are many types of heat engines that wait for well done realisation.
@@vincenthamilton2828 People have been building these engines for 100 years. There isn't much new under the sun, so this is basically a fun hobby IMO. It's possible to start a machine shop business and sell after-market parts for engine tuning, but the KZhead channel probably has more profit potential.
I am as well. Opposed pistons in one cylinder, no head / valves, intake/ exhaust ports opened by pistons, maybe a reed but no parasitic valve springs, will be supercharged / forced intake/ exhaust scavaging, a two stroke like a detroit deisel but gasoline or methanol with super hi compression and no head gasket. Direct injection even better but adds complexity.
This guy builds his own Moto Guzzi. Amazing! 🔥🔥🔥
