Fishing For Crucian Carp & Tench - Traditional Float Fishing
For this latest video we were invited down to the incredible Mill Lodge Fishery, set deep in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. A small intimate lake, with a fantastic stock of fish, including one we're calling the 'Shyest Biting' fish in the UK, whilst the other was one of our favourites species.
Armed with one rod and minimal tackle, this was one float fishing session we were really looking forward too. To find out how we got on, watch this latest episode from the waters edge.
As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.

  • That's how I started my fishing life. Fishing a farm pond lift float style for Tench and Crucian carp at the age of 12. I'm 50 this year and still love this kind of fishing. It's not as popular as it was once though.

  • Great if only all clubs would adopt such policies instead of the permanent menu of common and mirror boring offerings

  • Tench and crucians - two of my favourite fish to catch! My local fishery has lots of decent crucians although most people are aiming for commons or mirrors. When i started fishing there i caught a couple of crucians that were close to 2 pounds and didnt think anything of it - I thought they were all that size! Didnt know they liked meat though - did you use spam?

  • Pure delight, and so enjoyable, your small tench was still bigger than the one I had last weekend, but these farm ponds are a real gem, thank you for fishing and showing this, lovely job.

  • Lovely stuff! I had many a happy session in the late 90's to early 00's on a club lake near me. Granted many of the 'crucians' were crosses (not all) but the tench fishing alongside was magical. Sadly the lake is still there but the fishing is done for. I've some great photo albums from there but I do miss it, particularly at this time of the year.

  • First swim is my favourite swim, halfway across from peg to pads. Best I had was 50 Crucian and 18 tench on an evening session out of that peg. Fished the 2nd peg yesterday morning.

  • An interesting Video as I spend as many Sessions as possible doing just this. The Crucians are pure bred, straight from the Fish Farm when the lake was cleaned out, and no other Carp Species have been stocked. Our local Tackle Shop closed last year so without Maggots I've been using Diced Tulip Bacon Grill very successfully to land fish to 2½ lb.👍

  • Question. I'm newly returned to fishing after 50 years away, now approaching retirement. When I'm fishing with maggot I'm inundated with annoying tiny Roach and Rudd. If I use sweetcorn as hook bait should I feed with maggots, or hemp or ground bait?????

  • Preserve crusian carp? Shy biting? Are your mad over there in UK? It’s a junk fish, it proliferates excessively, borderline invasive. You have such an abundance of freshwater species and for some reason crucian carp is special there?

    @Comrade_Akimov@Comrade_Akimov11 ай бұрын
    • Yeah they are, true Crucian Carp were on the decline.

      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV@FromTheWatersEdgeTV9 ай бұрын
    • You have another type of crucian carp. We´ve got it here in sweden recently and they are a invasive species. We call it "Silver Crucian" They take over a lake from the original swedish (and UK) crucian who really is a shy biting fish.
