This is my review of the Herman Miller Embody office chair after owning for 1 month. I highly recommend checking out this chair and think it is worth the money if you're looking for a ergonomic chair for your back and neck. I recommend looking for a used chair if you can get a good condition one for cheap.

  • I am a 58 year old japanese businessman, we are using 12 of those in the meeting room in one of my companies. They are good chairs, but I would highly advise NOT to buy anything from a private person. There has been known counterfits that gets sold off as "used", the other thing is you really can't advice anyone to spend 1500 if you have spend 1/3 of the money. In my eyes it is a good investment, but the asking price of 1500 is too much. You are also paying their name on it, the production costs are a fraction of it. If money is no big concern it is justified but if someone would need to save to buy it I would say there are cheaper and better alternatives.

  • Excellent review. One think I would note is that you can not transfer the warranty on a used herman miller chair, so any repairs or replacement parts will cost you money. I have heard that Herman Miller is very responsive and will replace or fix any part that break without question, so that is the only reason why I might consider buying it new..from what i have read, these chairs really do last a long time. I am currently trying to decide between the Aeron, the Embody or the Xchair x3. I have sat in all of them and they are all pretty close in comfort. I would give the Embody a slight edge for cofmort if I was just planing on sitting upright. I think if I was planning on leaning back, I would want a headrest. You can get a third party headrest for the aeron, but there is no way to add a headrest to the embody that I have been able to find. Though I did not like the Aeron as much, it was because I initially sat in an aeron B size chair, and when i went to a herman miller showroom and sat in the C, it swayed me back toward the aeron. I also like the Aerons ability to tilt forward as I am an illustrator that sometimes has to work on a desktop and being able to lean forward is a nice feature that very few ergonomic chairs have...

Today I've moved house and my back is dead, and that's exactly when the embody arrived. And after a short adjustment, the chair is just awesome, how well my back is accommodated, and my back is really done from the move. The only thing that bothers me is that when you put the armrest all the way out, it takes on a sloping angle and my arm slides sideways when I lean on it. Otherwise 10/10 And yes, it´s expensive, but absolutely worth it as i dont have money to buy cheap chairs anymore. even if you are a broke streamer, save for this chair instead for led blink blink. • Quick question .. Does it get hot sitting in this chair doing the summer or just when the weather is warmer? I'm very close to pulling the tricker on this chair, but I'm wondering if the gaming version will be better in the long run, since it's using copper infused foam or whatever it is. Right now I'm using a cheap mesh chair, but at least that runs cool doing the summer 😅

  • Check out the new "Gaming" variant of the Embody, it would suit your studio lol. Apparently has thicker / cooling foam in the seat pad, and a recolour. (Expected a tad more but eh).

  • Thanks for the video. For anyone who are experienced in using the Embody - My back fit adjustment knob is stuck in one place and is not turning. Is there any fix that anybody can recommend? (It stopped working within 5 minutes of receiving the chair after a few adjustmetns)

  • For anyone looking at purchasing, contact any office interior sales stores that are Herman Miller dealers, I bought mine for $1300 Canadian dollars, taxes in with rhythm fabric and upgraded casters.Great chair that will last a long time with the 12 year warranty.

    • @Le Justicier du Net I actually like that I can tilt my head back and stretch. TBH I've never been a fan of headrests, so I'm going to be biased. I like to lean way back like I'm resting my back on a yoga ball.

  • Btw your armrests are supposed to hit the desk. The best way to setup your armrest is by having them at the same height as your desk and lean your arms on the armrests.

  • 1. Thr arm rest u have is the 4D armrest which is basically known for moving up and down & left and right.( But u can have an option for the updated armrest) 2. U forgot to mention about the gas lift. 3. They also have this chair in option of fabric and mesh. My personal suggestion will be if u r finding for the best herman miller chair ergonomically than AERON is thr bestest
