  • This video pissed me off 😅 You can’t tell me that the driving force behind the hostility Serena has faced from crowds throughout the years isn’t racism. I don’t know how Serena got through those moments. She is an absolute rock because I would crumble if I were faced with such hostility and hatred.

Absolute nonsense, it’s the equivalent of “I can’t be racist, I have a black friend”. Serena is a dark-skinned black woman from Compton. Heather Watson is a light-skinned British woman from Guernsey. The two are not the same. The animosity exhibited towards Serena from that Wimbledon crowd was racist, period.

    • @@holygrail102 Why would Wimbledon be racist? What other instances can you name of her experiencing racism at Wimbledon and why didn’t she experience racism in the QF, SF and F that year when the crowd was actively rooting for her to win #21? What proof do you have of this or are you just projecting? Serena herself realized they were rooting for her because she was British if you look at the press conference, the thought of racism did not even cross her mind. Brits are very patriotic people and we’re rooting for Heather because she is British. Jack Draper got the same treatment against Djokovic in Wimbledon last year. Every controversy Serena is a part of, people always blame racism. Accept that crowds sometimes root for the underdog and that Serena is an unlikeable person, regardless of her race. You can’t use racism to justify everything and the word does not revolve around Serena.

Fantastic player, but not the GOAT. She had the opportunity to be the GOAT by playing in the weakest era of all other GOAT candidates (going by ELO ratings), but the fact that she only won 73 titles and was not very committed to the tour outside the Slams for the majority of her career was very costly. She was never able to be as dominant or as consistent week in week out like Steffi and Martina and saw winning Slams as a shortcut to greatness. But there are no shortcuts if you want to be the GOAT. She simply wasn’t good enough. And that’s completely fine. Being in the top 5 all time is a historic achievement, but we mustn’t undervalue the achievements of other women who accomplished more than Serena just because of recency bias and because Serena is American.

Williams - 54/79 (68.3%) When compiling this list, I noticed that nearly a THIRD of Serena’s Slam results have been exits before the QF, which is absolutely SHOCKING. Dominance factor/ Slams won from total Slams played: 1. Wills - 19/24 (79.2%) *amateur Slams 2. Court - 24/47 (51%) 3. Graf - 22/54 (40.7%) 4. Evert - 18/56 (32.1%) 5. Williams - 23/79 (29.1%) 6. Navratilova- 18/67 (26.8%) - Graf is the only player, male or female, to be ranked #1 for 377 weeks. - Graf is the only player, male or female, to be (officially) year-end #1 for 8 seasons (other unofficial include Tilden and Wills) - Graf is the only player, male or female, to win each Slam at least 4 times - Graf is the only player, male or female, to win 6 Slams on each surface - Graf is the only player, male or female, to win the Golden Calendar Slam (1998)- all 4 Slams and the Olympic gold So as you can see, Serena does have a legendary career, but to be considered the GOAT, you need to tower above everyone else in history in terms of accomplishments, which Serena does not. She is a top 5 all time great, but not the GOAT.

  • I'm not a fan of Serena nor do I believe she's the GOAT for women. But definitely one of the top no question. However, she deserves respect like any other player. Certain crowds, past and present, are racist cowards PERIOD... but there are many who are respectful fans. There's a difference between passionate and disrespectful. You don't have to applaud for Serena (or any player) but I think booing is very 6 year old like. I just hope these people don't have kids of their own - could you imagine?!!??!

    • Wayne Boyd I wholeheartedly share your sentiment. The only difference is that I'm a fan of Serena and I do objectively believe she is the GOAT of women's tennis.

    • I was surprised that the US open stadium called her the greatest of time after her matches so confidently this year. I do agree she's the GOAT though to be honest, but I also think it's not as clear cut as people make it out to be

  • y'aura jamais de serena Williams chez les français jusqu'à la fin des temps. leurs jours ne sont que des perdants. d'où l'animosité du public français envers les gagnants et les dominateurs.
