Well, to be fair, when it comes to hardware and the home PC sector in general there has never been that much investigative journalism into unsafe products, rip off pricing, unfair practices much to my annoyance over many decades of building and fixing PC's for people totally ripped off to outright extorted for pre builds so GN really is not only one of a kind in this regard but is providing a service I have thought was decades overdue... I mean jesus if GN was around in the days of TIME computers and such through the 90's, all sorts of hooky sh** went on along with many a crap part sold for a high price.

It doesnt matter what the topic is, any big mainstream source wouldnt bother putting in this much work. Theyre told what to say and they say it.

We are lucky to have them doing this. It makes tech/this industry better. A lot of industries don't have this kind of optics. Think about the stuff hollywood went though a decade ago with the scandals. Most people don't do this. Most business is run properly, but it just takes one or two people to have a huge impact, and it spreads because they attract other like minded folks. Ethics are incredibly important. I work at a bit company and we have a lot of training on how to handle contractors ethics for a similar reason. Other companies like EK would do well to get the right message. Learn from this don't do it.

I just left a company who did nearly the exact same thing... Tax fraud, wage theft, late on making payments to property, OSHA violations out the rear and changing the LLC to wipe the company of liability. So many smaller companies are guilty of this and so many more people outside of huge corporations are getting screwed due to them being able to continuously get away with doing business like this.
These loopholes need to be closed, and the people making the call need to be held personally responsible. Not allowing a business to take the blame so it can be foisted off at the stoke of a pen.
Best journalism I've seen in years. The media, tabloids, and reporters should take note of what can be achieved if you put the effort in.

This type of reporting is hard as it doesn't make friends in an already small and deeply interconnected business community. Jesus Christ, I'm only barely twenty minutes in, but I felt like I needed to say thank you; there is evidently something very unique ideologically/culturally about how Gamers Nexus operates, because I just cannot imagine any other "tech KZheadrs" having such strong convictions that they'd: - A. Put in the level of effort required to even just half-ass some sort of shoddy hit-piece of this magnitude, let alone the effort to ensure the reporting is as objective, fair, and reliable as these genuine industry-journalism videos have been. - B. Lose seemingly all sense of self-preservation regarding funding required to make these happen, combined with the potential for burning bridges, blowback, frivilous lawsuits, and so on. It is very refreshing to see, especially when the rest of this sphere seems to speak out only after someone else has been brave enough to take all of the major risks, and even then, only after carefully calculating whether it is advantageous for them to do so.
Thanks for that. You are absolutely right on point B. There is a chance for calculating behind the scenes by powerful people, but I think we are well equipped now to deal with any such problems.

@@wpgspecb GN's lawyer certainly isn't chasing ambulances here. The employment law firm in Texas is also doing great work in holding company's accountable. They'll almost certainly take the cases on commission, which means they don't get paid unless they win. There are so many slimy companies that firms can specialize in getting employees what they're owed. that's not a problem with lawyers, that's a problem with company's and the state not enforcing the laws.

I love how companies forget that a NDA does not apply to criminal activities in the USA: A NDA cannot be used to hide, prevent testification, or hinder investigation of a crime in the USA. Nor, for that matter, does a NDA prevent a person from bringing allegations against any employee or employer. Essentially, if it's against the law, the NDA is cast aside. This holds true in a number of other countries, as well. I don't know if it does in Slovenia, however. 10:40 Holey sheet. My family works in warehousing in the GHA, specifically plastic storage, and I've thrown containers before when I was working in summer during HS and just after HS before college-you get in the container and toss the packaged product several feet to another person who stacks it on a pallet-and that is not a packaged product you can throw! Those should be plastic-wrapped pallets that the forklift can just pull off!
They don't forget. It's a SLAPP using the NDA as an excuse - betting on the fact getting a lawyer and fighting back can get very expensive in the US especially.
Slovenia is part of EU, the law is not on EK's side in EU either.
I don't think you will find a single country where a NDA would cover criminal activities, that would make the law of a country basically toothless.

I created account just so I can comment on this controversy: USA laws certainly are better, since the country actually exists about 10 times longer and got tired of everyday crooks like these. Even with the "lax" protection workers have in US, wages, enforcement of unpaid wages and other work related things are in many cases done better and faster. This works both ways. 1. Current NDA and "saber rattling" allegations and letters by the lawyers can also be constituted as an actual "threat" to individual and his/her freedoms, esp. freedom of speech and communication and is classified as intimidation. 2. Litigation in Slovenia is unbearably slow even for regular processes. Anything under 2 years is considered fast. Given the efforts of this low tier lawyer corp that makes 300.000€ yearly in total, court workers making protests due to low wages, their success is doubtful. The company may go under water before anything comes to fruition. Given the severity of response, I would personally think that company is more concerned about loosing money (or market value) than actual quality of products. I haven't seen the tweet they want to remove (claim of social network for businessman is bogus), but given "sensitive information that may harm company" it goes more in a way that leadership willingly defrauded investors with falsifying reports and status and value of company, which is far far greater risk and may land them in actual jail for fraud. (Rarely happens in Slovenia, it's land of crooks) 3. Court will probably throw NDA out since it doesn't even relate to the issue - Isues with this corp are publicly known for a while. Sensitive information needs to be marked sensitive confidential etc. and the worker was probably forced into signing NDA in fear for his/her job. 4. 70.000€ is probably the amount they owe said worker in unpaid wages, so litigatee is probably aiming for "compensation" package where they both remain silent and stuff stays undisclosed. 5. Any such documents need to be officially handed in and also need an official translation by official, verified translator to the language the sued person speaks in. Given that they handcrafted this love letter it may get thrown out as well. A response to this however may be needed in some cases, since lawyer firm will claim "client" is unresponsive and claim courts should rule in their favor. Even if litigation succeeds, the claims are unenforceable as Slovenian laws don't apply to US citizens on US soil writing on US boards/networks. 6. It is common for companies to go heavy even on unskilled and low paid workers. Intimidation culture is present a lot in our companies. Usually it relies on worker not having any legal protection from the violence and allegations of corporation. 7. Unpaid work, overtime and other expenses are common in this country. Sadly courts, legislation and inspectors allow a lot of these issues to go unnoticed and unpunished and a lot of times, worker that reported the issue even anonymously is shunned and cast out, losses job etc... 8. A lot of people left ekwb and their abuse of workforce and not paying suppliers is widely known, especially now as it is brought into spotlight. This is also a part of "our culture" that is burdening the country since socialist times ("You should be grateful you have job" mentality).

Both are lacking in the mainstream media of the US, Germany, Canada and Britain. Never you mind any topic thst might ne important for the demos to base their decisions upon, but cast the government in a bad light. Those are swiftly brushed under the rug. I don't think it's hyperbole to say GN's work is close to-if not on par-with major investigative journalism programs like 60 Minutes or Dateline. I dare someone to find a more in depth, comprehensive, and professional investigative report than what Gamers Nexus has done. Every major news network should be taking note of this. Just amazing.
Except this "Investigative report" is mostly filler like "what is an LLC".
Literally any major newspaper that's not owned by Murdoch? If you consume junk media, don't assume the majority is the same.

Most people know that “LLC” means limited liability corporation, but not what that means from a legal standpoint and how it relates to this situation. Hardly filler. The video is 58 min long, definitely not “mostly”. GN investigated something then reported on it. Seems like the definition of “Investigative report”.
@@Schule04 The amount of Americans who don't know the specifics of an LLC, especially in the context, is staggering. It was time well spent. Vincent's description even had a bit of data I didn't already know.
Former EK Employee here 👋🏾 Hopefully consistent CHANGE will come from all this. I don’t want to see them fall, but I do want to see change from all of this. EK has amazing products. I want people to continue using their products knowing they will change for the better.
Some, some are not, Productmanagement needs to start reacting to what Bykski and Alphacool are doing, especially the FLT and Distros need an update, and maybe claim some other areas, like "complete" external cooling solutions.
It's ingrained in the culture of the company and the country. While it is nice to have hope, racism, corruption and the way you treat the very people who make your company a success is far from the minds of those at HQ.

Yeah, it's consistency that's the hardest to gain.... easy to say you'll change, live by that for a week... but before long the engrained sentiment takes root again, especially of the old hands and orignal management is left in place and unchecked. Glad you got out, hope you landed well.

I am old enough to remember that type of real journalist integrity. Dinner hr news was a daily watch, and every week there were multiple hr long investigative journalism exposing the corrupt. Now we have bloggers and L/R spin jobs.

Its so strange seeing a video covering my former employer and seeing names I remember. Never would have thought any of this was as bad as it was. I just remember my pay rate being pretty low. I was okay with it because i was just happy to be there and work with pc hardware I couldn't have afforded myself lol.
