This is an OPTIONAL quest and occurs after The Nuclear Option (Minutemen). Afterwards become hostile with the Brotherhood of Steel. One way is to kill a leader of the Brotherhood (Now is your chance to get Elder Maxson's Battlecoat). Then talk to Preston and he'll give you this quest.

I wonder how one of the most technological militaries in the game feels about losing a flying fortress and there foothold in the commonwealth to a bunch of farmers dressed like like there from the 19th century.
Thats why siding with the Brotherhood is the best ending
@@lordvoldemortsrighthanddea1740 Sir this is a Wendy’s, curb your self importance.
@Rijal Jose You make a good point. Those farmers are very well versed in the ways of battle because of raiders, super mutants, and gunners. Too bad you always have to help them in order to save them though because they’re just that incompetent without you.
you can make the minutemen a lot stronger with mods
Probably how the english felt when a bunch of farmers beat the shit out of them and left to make America

Nah,Gatling laser of General go brrrrrrr
Yet the brotherhood went bye bye
You would think the brotherhood of steel would've seen this coming with the minutemen broadcasting the attack on a open radio
Presumably that’s why the BoS didn’t go down when the Prydwen did.
Scrambled their asses to the vertiberds
This definitely shows the military vs Civilian aspect that these two factions have with each other.
Actually I saw it as military deserters (BoS) vs the National Guard (In my headcanon, my character goes on to reforge the minutemen into the Commonwealth National Guard (especially when I use the "Militarized Minutemen" mod)).
@@Captain_Razor_88 Hey I love that mod! I also view it the same way. Though even without mods the Minutemen can easily destroy the Brotherhood, just give them the necessary equipment and tools then they're gone.
@@kylegivens3120 I believe in brotherhood supremacy
For me it’s a foreign paramilitary vs local militia; orthodox military tactics vs guerrilla warfare
Fascist America vs Capitalist Vietnam.
The short Brotherhood - Minutemen war is probably the most intense thing in Fallout 4. Can't wait to do it when my Castle is full of armed settlers. (I don't use turrets often, it's not as fun as actually defending settlements and arming my own Minutemen settlers.)
Nice.
institute vs bos was more intense
Institute attacking the Prydwen was pretty intense but the synths rely too much on the player to win the battle, they're so bloody useless in combat
The Battle of Bunker Hill was always a highlight quest for me.
Institute vs bos felt like an actual all out war
Wouldn’t it have been cooler if the Brotherhood caught wind of your operation and last minute moved the Prydwen destroying the Airport instead. Then the Prydwen would go all the way over to the Castle and drop troops, that way all the names Brotherhood characters could fight in Power Armour.
But that would only make sense. We can't have that now, can we? But seriously, though. That would've been epic as hell.
And for the finale, lag and settlements
That wouldn't be cool and would be a game over, instantly.
The prydwen is filled with HYDROGEN they could have taken that bitch down with a single missle launcher
Idk I think that would be the death of the Minuitmen
"Because they're ridiculous! Because they galavant around the Commonwealth pretending to be knights of Yore. Or they did, until the minutemen showed them that ideological purity and shiny power armour means nothing when you're faced with really big guns."
Game NPC: we’ve got vertibirds inbound. Me with 29 settlers all armed, rebuilt walls with auto turrets and lasers: “(Sigh) make it quick boys... I got a son to find.”
So, Preston doesn't like killing humans, but now he plans on killing a lot....
For the sake of helping that settlement he sent you to. I'll mark it on your map.
Liberty Prime What do you mean? He just killed off a group of Raiders.
He only kills bad humans like raiders gunners and xenophobic brotherhood nazis
kelly wilson whitehead one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. you see the brotherhood as raiders, but the minutemen can be viewed as raiders too. They move into settlements claiming them as their own, attack raider camps and try to conquer the entire commonwealth.
only if the settlement AGREES TO SUPPORT THEM! "hey, thanks for taking out those . we've talked it over and we have decided to stand with the minutemen." brotherhood: "give us your food or else." i think it is very clear who the REAL raiders are...
Any self righteous military faction is never gonna have a place in my heart. Annihilating the BoS was personal
I really miss the brotherhood run by Lyons I love destroying the brotherhood of steel in Fallout 4 because Arthur Maxson is terrible.
Harrison Bergeron maxson brought it upon himself, he should have never entered the commonwealth
I fine with the rest of the brotherhood chapters bit elder maxon is kinda racist and other stuff and I just dont like that chapter as much as the one in the Capitol wasteland
Harrison Bergeron I made the brotherhood suffer more then usual by siding with the institute and using their best weapon AGAINST them Liberty Prime
You know this is what the rest of the the brotherhood is like right? Lyons was the outlier not Arthur Maxon
I can’t argue with a man that wheres a fabulous coat like that

The brotherhood is just a bunch of raiders with power armor and better equipment. Anyways , that coat-
The East Coast BoS is like a pendulum. They go from sacrificing their missions and tech to help people, to going out of their way to murder people and steal farmers' food. A drastic change from the West Coast, which wasn't above killing others for technology but generally kept to themselves.
@@michaelmerritt7406 they already turn back into their old way, sure they open up for recruitment but their way are still the same, they would still do anything to gather technology and purge mutants, ghoul This version of the BoS have already bring back the Outcast into their rank, hence why the red symbol in Fallout 4 BoS symbol
Gunners more like, since raiders are motivated by chems, and do actually have power armour sometimes.

When you turn the castle into a deadly restricted airspace, it's quite a sight seeing all these vertibirds go down
This kinda breaks my heart
I saw Shaun and it reminded me of how Proctor Ingram was asking me why I'd leave a synth in an about to be nuked Institute out of all damn factions a proctor from the brotherhood asking me that. Sometimes I have my doubts and theories that maybe that wasn't the synth Shaun but the real Shaun and that they extracted his DNA and cryo-freezed him again just to save him as a young specimen to be brought out for more samples (if needed) and that he got out of his cryo chamber when the place was put on emergency mode with the Father just being a straight up liar by telling the sole survivor that he was Shaun just to get him on his side. It's always the what ifs to get me thinking if I was justified for my choices.
Wait what about those kid scribes on the prydwen? *We'll be right back*
If you get the overseers guardian from vault 81 and give it the best auto reciciver with all of the other best modifications it would have literally melted the BOS vertibirds and power armor like a white hot knife through microwaved butter
I played for days and weeks trying to unlock this mission it made a big change to fall out without brothers of steal
One Minutemen mission I would make, which would take place after Shaun shuns you following the assault Bunker Hill, would be you giving a summons for both Elder Maxson and Desdemona to meet at the castle for a truce. This would require good relations with the Brotherhood and Railroad, along with the Minutemen being restored to their former strength (otherwise Maxson will laugh you off the Prydwen). This quest could result in the Brotherhood and Railroad negotiating a ceasefire, with all 3 factions concentrating their efforts on their common enemy, The Institute. This quest could also result in one faction allying with you, and the other faction rejecting your proposal, depending on your charisma and reputation. This quest could also fail, forcing you into the vanilla endgame routes.
You do know you can keep both the Railroad and Brotherhood alive with the minuteman. The Railroad will ally with the Minuteman and get synths to safety when the Minuteman attack the Institute. The Brotherhood just gets mad at you but is glad the Institute is gone.
@@tyloyd018 This would be like Skyrim’s “Season Unending” quest, where you bring Tullius and Ulfric to High Hrothgar, in order to discuss a truce until the dragon crisis is over The vanilla way is just doing some quests and not doing others, since 3 of the 4 groups require you to take out at least 2. This would formalize a cessation of hostilities between the other 3 non-Institute factions (or exacerbate the conflict). Plus, when the Institute attacks the Castle, Brotherhood vertibirds would fly in to lend assistance. Maxson and Desdemona would also go into the institute with you, with the Railroad going off to free the synths once you sound the evac signal.
LordMatrim You are one of my favourite fallout 4 you tubers, and I'm thinking of getting a pc for my birthday and fallout 4 on it! Keep up the good work man:)

Back to the Citadel for them. Shouldnt have even came to the Commonwealth.
Wait, how did you get railroad and Minutemen to like each other? I tried and Desdemona hates them with a passion
You should have done the evacuation order in the institute ending
So what do you do after this quest? I destroyed the Prydwen and Preston just keeps giving me settlements to help, is that all there is left to do ? I thought there’d be more
Fabian XVI same thing for me, just recycled quests on loop. I destroyed the institute. But that can’t be the ending, right??
Basically you have to choose the minutemen may to destroy the institute if i believe or become hostile with the brotherhood of steel and the institute
How do I trigger “with our powers combined”? I’ve already got the quest Rockets Red Glare, but I don’t want to attack the Brotherhood that way.
You have to defeat the institute first
I wish the prwydwen would occasionally Fly around the map, and then make the Airport an actual Military base like Adams air force base in Fallout 3s dlcs
I used the 20mm rifle mod, everyone had it in either .50HE, 14.7mm APHE or 20mm Vulcan APHE. Even set up a bridge over the front of the Castle and put a couple 20mm turrets, the sound was awesome.

@@papapalpatine8231 good to know because I did it too lol
All these years and I never knew this was a thing. Then again I never had reasons to be enemies with the Brotherhood except for my Railroad playthrough. I always like to think that while the Minutemen and Brotherhood, while having different ideologies effectively do the same thing which is protect the innocent. The Brotherhood are just more indirect about it than the Minutemen. They prevent dangerous weapons from falling into the hands of enemy factions, and well anyone else, and the Minutemen go around protecting people from the same enemies the Brotherhood are hamstringing. If ever there were two factions that would work together, it would be the Minutemen and the Brotherhood with the Minutemen acting as more of a policing force, cleaning up the streets with regular patrols near all the settlements and along trade routes with the more elite of them, equivalent to SWAT in a sense, taking it to certain hostile cells that are well within their grasp or if a situation needs the extra arms, armor, and experience. If they can't handle it then the Brotherhood would get involved as it is clearly a serious threat that needs taking care of, and with the Minutemen already on the scene, they will have extra guns in case things really messy. Having them working together will also help improve Brotherhood tactics as the Minutemen are far more familiar with the land and can teach them how to navigate some parts and also do a better job at scouting and gathering intel, while the Brotherhood can help the Minutemen become better trained not only in terms of weapons, but also battle tactics and squad coordination. Maybe even help standardize weaponry across the Minutemen with upgraded Combat Rifles(standard infantry), Laser Rifles(standard infantry), Assault Rifles(used as SAW due to weight and high ammo capacity and ability to fire continuously), and Sniper Rifles(scouting and long range support). Seeing that level of coordination and cooperation would likely boost recruitment for each one, and eventually the Commonwealth would grow safer because of it. The Brotherhood would likely become a permanent fixture in the Commonwealth, although I doubt the Prydwen would stick around, and honestly I think the Commonwealth Alliance would be a good name for such a partnership, to have one flag to rally under. They could gain enough power to reasonably be able to restart the Commonwealth government project they had going some time ago before the Institute ruined it. If that works, as they become a more well known power, more people will move to the Commonwealth, and more people requires more space, which means that it would grow in size, maybe to the point of retaking all of Massachusetts, or the entirety of New England. Of course that would require a lot of time and rebuilding, but I think that it is honestly what would really put the Commonwealth as well as the whole of America back together piece by piece. Anyway, that is my reason why I think the Minutemen and Brotherhood being on good terms is what is best for the Commonwealth. Such a team up would be hard to beat once they get fully organized, especially with the Sole Survivor having pull on both sides.
This is why I try to build up some robots in the Castel to help
the brotherhood will just come back in later games 💀

@@frankhorrigan1508 the Enclave deserved their destruction due to being an evil regime and harboring genocidal tendencies that they thought they could justify as "bringing peace" to the Wasteland.
