However, we got to the end of season dinner, met a few of the players and got a photo with Michu. Seeing how fast he came and went from Premier League football, i feel even more lucky to have that photo, especially a League Cup Final goalscorer from that season. Its still so sad how his career was cut short though, was an emotional day when he left let alone prematurely retired. Many thanks for posting. @@marcossierra4994 Muchas gracias. Lo mismo para Valencia. La época de Pablo Aimar allí fue impresionante.
Hmm... they don't seem to be doing bad since they were only three points behind 6th Sunderland in Championship this last season.
Prime Michu will always be my Favorite Underrated Striker of All Time, love his style of play 🔥
he was a AM
The profile of Michu is truly insane the elegance of his touch high IQ that’s happened to be a streaker with lethal goal scoring abilities, you can’t find players like this today and if you find them the price tag is up to 150M.
One hit wonder
@@hawkeye1044 injuries robbed him
Michu won the streets that season, also Nathan Dyer too. That was obviously his best season. He won my heart that year
I only started watching football in 2014 so I have no memory of Michu, but everything I hear and see of him makes me think what a treat it must have been to watch him at the time, a shame Swansea never managed to push on beyond that but hopefully one day they will rise again
bro michu dyre vs your team 😢😢😢😢😢😢that day
Ronaldinho / Del Piero / Zidane / Totti / Baggio / Pirlo / Bergkamp / Henry / Beckham (tutorial on how he shoots) / Juninho / Maldini / Roberto Carlos / Pavel Nedved. Enjoy !!!
Sad you started to watch football only 9 years ago you missed on a lot
You missed on the 2005-2015. To me that was the golden age of football (I'm a Chelsea fan so go figure😅)
@@omegamwihambi2496golden age of chelsea ruining football yes
Michu and his iconic celebration is always memorable. One of the most remarkable premier league ss
The amount of nostalgia is crazy,i misss this time and i miss my grandma
May she rest in peace brother
@@brady8897 thank you bro that's very kind of you
Great season! I remember the one hit season of Michu! By the way the cup final was against Bradford, not Brentford
That bit did give me a laugh, poor bradford lol
These were truly the glory days, really nostalgic watching this back. What a team! 🦢 🏴
You forgot to mention the most important component of that success, appointment of michael laudrup as manager, he beat likes of liverpool, arsenal, chelsea and won efl cup with a team that was honestly nothing special without him while playing beautiful free flowing football, GENIUS.
I started my first year of uni at Swansea back in 2012, I never realised it but I accidentally came during the most iconic year in the clubs history...great times! Watching Hazard kicking a ball boy, meeting Chico Flores on Wind Street and having him come play fifa in our accomodation the day after, always seeing Michu eating pizza randomly. Great Times!
Don Michu Oviedo, caballeros. Delantero infravalorado aquí en España, pero un gran jugador y una gran persona.
What a player Michu was.
Really enjoyed watching Michu, Dyer, De Guzman, Ki, Rangel, Flores and co! A brilliant side set up by Laudrup❤
I was at all those games with my dad and two young kids. The win at Arsenal with both goals in front of the away fans was incredible. The way Michu seemed to have so much time for the second. Brings back a lot of great memories of that season. What a squad playing for a great manager. I only hope that one day we can somehow recreate that amazing feeling but it feels a world away.
Thanks for this, Michu was and is the best player I have seen play for the Swans, nothing against Trundle, Curtis, (two legends in their own right) but he was really something special. As for this team, some of the football was just breath taking, the best I have seen in my 35 years watching the Swans. And lastly, Michael Laudrup, cool as you like, laid back, roll a ball and lets play football in training, when he wasn't selling wine around the world. 😉😉😂😂😎😎
Better than sigurossan?
@@definitelynotatroll246 I think so, nothing against Siggy, he was class, Michu, just had something really special.
I got to tell you, I am not born and raise in the UK but I am a huge huge football fan, back in the time when I was exchanging in UK to study, I watch my first ever premier league match: Southampton vs Swansea City I think in Feb 2015 when Jonjo Shelvey scored the only goal of the match to secure Swansea City victory. It is not a big match for either team, but for me, this match will forever be remember in my heart. (I am actually a Brighton fan since 2012 when they are still in the Championship)
That Michu was a special player, had so much talent just a shame he was a 1 season wonder, really enjoyed watching him play.
No one mentioning the effect of Michael Laudrup, great coach!
Positional play at its finest. Waiting for him to hopefully return to the prem one day.
Yep. And he was such a great player in his playing days as well, well he was soo good that he was schooling this Swansea team in their training sessions and games and doing it effortlessly at that lol.
@@chinmaypednekar501 I read that too! Hah unreal!!! Miss his approach
What a moment to be alive as a Swansea supporter 🦢🦢
I remember this Swansea, in FIFA 14, on my brother's mobile phone. They were a nightmare to play against. Michu was a beast.
The fact that they won the League Cup in that 2012/13 season is an incredible feat. I really liked watching them back then, mostly because of Michu.
Michu this season was the definition of a clinical finisher
This is why we love football, the underdogs making it to the headlines! Thank You Michu and all the teammates! Thank you, Coach Laudrup!
I remember at this season Swanse and some of their player has the highest stats of pass completed and possession ball even higher than Barca with the Tiki-Taka. This team is not just about Michu, one of the most entertaining team to watch on that season. Edit: And little correction to the video, the team they beat in the League Cup final is Bradford and not Brentford.
I mean, their coach WAS Michael Laudrup - arguably the most essential player for the 90-94 Barcelona "dream team" by Cruyff.
agree
Swansea had the one of highest pass completion rate in europe for the past 2 years before this, leon britton had the highest pass comp. rate in europe above xavi and iniesta whilst they were under pep guardiola in 2011/12.
They were a lot of people’s 2nd team that season without a doubt.
So many great memories. Michu was a breath of fresh air in that Swansea team. Excellent video
I'm an American and hopped on the Swansea bandwagon that year since I didn't have a favorite team. Have stuck with them since. Hopefully back up to the Prem soon, although it's unfortunate that new ownership doesn't seem intent on investing in the team.
There were few players that made me watch football just to see what they will do next: Futre, Hagi, Zola, Okocha, Hugo Sanchez, Ronaldinho, Michael Laudrup, Suarez, Michu
You’ve done Bradford dirty with the mention of Brentford in the league cup final. League 1 Bradford reaching a league cup finals a story itself..
For a team that's supposed to fight for not being relegated every season, winning a national competition, finishing top 10 on the positions placement and almost qualifying for European tournaments it's something unthinkable that only happens in videogames. Much respect to this team, so sad they're far from their golden days, same with Leicester and Malaga
As a newer soccer fan it's cool to see videos like this. You hear all about the big 6 clubs, so seeing Swansea a team that I haven't seen talked about at all succeed is nice to watch. That Michu dude is a baller.
I remember Ki Sung Yueng bossing United at Old Trafford. Wilfried Bony was great too. Good team with great players around that time
@@yoloswag6663 Sigerson's free kick against united in the prem i was there behind the net it was incredible i was 9 me and my friend talked abt it all the way back to swansea
Angel Rangel is such a great name. He was also criminally underrated. Joined a League One squad and helped them get to the Prem and win trophies.
still remember watching their game that season for the first time and the way they kept their possession is crazy.
Growing up, my football hero was Michael Laudrup. I get the sense this group of players loved playing under him.. so much knowledge and creativity to share!
This is what football is truly about. Beautiful. A beautiful fairy-tale.
Small correction, it was Bradford in the final not Brentford. Great vid!
Michu was a true one season wonder.
Hell yeah, this team was good! I had just started getting into the EPL not too long before this and they were one of the first squads to catch my eye.
Fun fact, Haaland has said that Michu was one of his favourite players. In fact, he used to tag michu in pictures of himself on Instagram!
Michu's Luca Toni celebration was brilliant too 👌
What a joy to watch they were

Went to two matches that season and we lost them both and couldn't be bothered to try the final as by the time our ticket priority started, we would be high in the heavens. Memories that won't ever be repeated or anywhere near thanks to Livien and Kaplan.
Laudrup was such an underrated coach, always thought that he would fit perfectly with that Barcelona team after Pep left them
Love this crazy stories of underdogs season wonder Swansea and Michu partnership was historic and I was lucky to see it by that time how magic it was
they were incredible!! i even play fifa career with swansea 😂
Man Michu was ice cold, what a baller 😂😭

as a LFC fan from Wales i remember this Swansea Side as i remember there EFL cup final battle with Bradford City who were in League 2 back then but more importantly the hype for 13-14 season as Cardiff won the 12/13 championship so the hype watching the South Wales Derby in the 1st tier of English football like man the memories
I became a swansea fans since now and still supporting the championship club till now!! I love Michu, My childhood idol.
I will never forget Michu, one of the best one season wonder
The year I fell in love with Michu the guy was sensational very clinical and scored some really good goals
Michu 🔥🔥🔥 what a player he was
Michu was on his bag the whole season. Shame we lost a star so early on
Football during those years were fun - miss those times....
Can't explain how much i loved Vorm this season
Im glad was able to see and understand Michu and this Swansea team and Leicester City winning the league.
These guys were so good. A legendary Swansea
Honestly i really admired this team, pace , trickery, movement, finish, defense were all on point
I remember myself as an 11 year old gooner absolutely hating Michu because of those two goals at the Emirates😆 Now I appreciate what he has done for Swansea
Swansea's football was so good it opened up defences at will
Cech’s save vs Michu in the second leg was lovely
I watched this Swansea team it was legendary...
That fingers rolling celebration, Iconic!
It was Bradford in the final not Brentford😭😭 but still brilliant videos, lots of amazing memories
I was thinking about this team the other day, used to hear so much back then
Everyone talking about the players, but seems to forget the maestro and legend Michael Laudrup, who created a true and beautiful fairytale story, that sadly seemed to be forgotten, when Leicester won the league few years later. Michus performance that season was purely phenomenal and it still remains a mystery to me, how he’s career just seemed to vanish afterwards.
S.Y KI fan here. Swansea played some sexiest football at the time. Loved watching them
Michu was unstoppable and Underrated.....
1 season only
Not underrated at all. He was a 1 season wonder which is what everyone knows him for. Notoriously one of the most known "streets won't forget" players
Another clown misusing the word"underrated" 😂
@@cell2179yes he was. He’s only seen as a one season wonder because he picked up a career ending injury. Had that not happened he would’ve continued and probably gone to the very top.
@@cell2179 He was the top scoring Midfielder in La Liga the season before he joined Swansea, without consistant injuries he would of carried on.

I used Swansea on fifa manager cause of this season! Miss it dearly now
Finally videos that show the hidden legends
I lived in Swansea during this Swansea City golden era. It really made the town a much happier place to be.
I swear to god that year Swansea moved the ball better than anyone In the league. I loved watching them 🤣😂
I remember playing as Swansea on fifa when they was in the Prem, such an overpowered team 👍🏻
I'll never forget watching Michu that season 🔥
Great memories…. Fantastic team….
This is the Swansea I grew up with 🥲will never forget the joy this team gave younger me
what a player
RESPECT FROM ALGERIA
Also that years Wigan Team which won the FA Cup, were relegated into the championship and still played in the Europa League the next year
A striker so good, Sir Alex got mad at his scouts for not picking him up.
Ki was amazing during his time at Swansea as well
They were so impressive I even got Swansea jersey that season
Now the best striker of the world appreciated this team when he was a kid. Beautiful.
Fantastic. Love a breakthrough team like that. Brilliant to watch. Did any of these go on the be successful elsewhere? I can’t think of any really.
What a finisher michu is 👏
